I think it kind of sucks that there are no male gay characters in any of the animated ATLA media (that are visibly gay and not Dumbledored in). They can do several female queer characters no problem but gay men? /gasp Too risqué, apparently.

I didn't think it would happen, but my shipping heart was kinda sorta hoping for Mako/Wu by the end of Korra. I acknowledge the two of them would be disastrous together in the long term, but I think Wu's outgoing and surprisingly insightful personality would have given Mako the kick in the butt he needed to loosen up and get over himself while the latter's stability would keep Wu from, I don't know, accidentally falling into a manhole because he got distracted by fancy clothes from window shopping or something.

I'm rewatching Grey's Anatomy. And wow are all the men on this show terrible. I love almost all the women. But the men? The writers seem to think being "masculine" means being a dick.

All of the women have some dick moments, too. But, yeah, most of the men were/are terrible, especially Richard and Owen. Alex swung wildly between a complete douche and a somewhat sweet and decent human being. Derek would be okay for a while, then bam, horrendous jackass (petty, jealous, faithless, thoughtless, denigrating, capricious). Burke was horrible. Thatcher was exasperatingly dreadful. Riggs, Shane, George, DeLuca, all did some appalling stuff. Mark, I kind of liked because they only ever sort of pretended he was a decent guy, like, it was acknowledged that he was a dick. I think Jackson was less of a dick than most of the men, I mean, he definitely had his awful moments, just in comparison, from what I remember. Maybe Ben, too. Henry was pretty decent the whole time, but he didn't last long (RIP) and probably if he had been there longer, he would have achieved dickishness.

You know the problem with modern Star Trek?

They adopted common TV wisdom, and that is the opposite of what Trek used to be.

You know the old saying of "show, don't tell"?

Well old Trek used to defy that and was always "tell, don't show" to the point of the Briefing Room and Captain's Log being nearly Main Characters.

Make with more of the exposition and splainy, Trek fans actually love that shit.
