I remember hearing someone around here explain why they really like this pairing in a compelling way, but when it actually happens on the show as opposed to just some people's pet pairing...it's really hard not to see it the way OP does :(

I don't believe it was race-motivated and certainly not in any kind of racist way. I don't even see it as pairing up the spares. I think RTD honestly wanted all of his characters to end up happy and had probably worked out a complete backstory for these two in his mind, and we would have seen it had Noel and Freema been available for Torchwood. As it is, of course it is out of the blue and doesn't really work. But I do love the idea of it, and this is exactly what fanfiction is for.

I do sort of like the pair, but not the execution. Full third season of Torchwood w/these guys on it, the two of them slowly growing together and getting tired of rules/regulations/etc. would have been appreciated. though one of the Torchwood audiobooks has Martha on her honeymoon with Tom, so...

I'm way behind (season 3) but I've found that this show has more interracial couples than any other fandom I've ever been in. Even the BBC Christmas game had a mixed family at one point. Although I'm not far enough to comment on the validity of Mickey and Martha as a couple, I probably wouldn't really give it a second thought considering how much variety they've shown so far. But that's just me.

If CLAMP had to do some other ridiculous crossovery spinoff manga, I'd want it to be about the vampires and the hunters (as if we don't already have enough S/F/S/K stuff out there, I know, I know). But with more of a focus on Seishirou-Fuuma snark and Subaru-Kamui fluff. And mid to late X style, not as noodley as they're drawing now. lol never gonna happen

Also I don't think "love" can be used to describe what Seishirou felt for Subaru. Obsession? Yes. Fixation? Definitely. Love? Not in any sense you or I would recognize or ever demonstrate to those dear to us. The "you are to me like a child's favorite toy" thing (from Nukume Dori, iirc?) is really the best way to describe it.

I've found it by chance, and couldn't feel more gleeful. 165's photo (Cleese and Palin) is incredibly sweet, as the idea of the relatioship being canon; what you wrote must be wonderful.
