Twilight is mysoginist crap, and stupidly bad-written, and it's disgustingly overrated

And this is exactly why secret Twilight fans don't come out, even if it is just a 'guilty pleasure'. Maybe they don't want to hear that kind of shit from their friends.
I don't care if it's supposedly the truth in your opinion, not everyone wants to hear people they like talking badly about the things they enjoy. Sometimes it's better just to keep your mouth shut and avoid the inevitable wankity-wank and accusations of being an anti-feminist sheep and whatever other nonsense.

Me too. It hadn't dawned on me until I actually saw the first movie and when he first appeared on screen all I could think was, "Holy crap it's Mike Dexter! XD" I started laughing out loud in the theater. I must've confused some people since the scene wasn't funny at all.

I randomly remembered the Outnumbered one of this series a few weeks ago, and had to go searching for the name of it. It was the only one of the Super Solvers that I had on my crappy old computer, as a child.

Go figure, because I sucked (and still do!) at math. That made the game even scarier for me than it would've been normally. I'd get so anxious when trying to hurriedly answer the computer robot's equations in time.

Yes, sometimes I think that, too. A long-long time ago, when, obviously, my poor drawing skills were even poorer, when I worked hard on something, I liked it by the end and posted it. Looking back now, of course it's like, awful, but my views have changed since then. It's just that at that time, working to reach my greatest potential was less than now. Now I feel like it has to be super perfect or I don't like it. Which is, bad, because I like drawing because it's fun, not because I want to be the next Leonardo DaVinci.
Don't be afraid to post your art, people might be even able to give you constructive criticism. And even so, if you had fun drawing it, put your heart into it, that comes through, believe me.

Agreeing on everything, except: why the hell is this a secret? It should be preached, taught in schools and written on milk boxes.

(Anonymous) 2010-06-27 10:10 am (UTC)(link)
It's really about what you draw, and where people see it. Just by posting it on dA, there is only a small chance it will attract views, as it will only appear on the main/newest stream. As others said, try groups, advertizing and stuff if you want views.

Anyway, I have two friends on dA. One is an incredibly talented artist with unique style drawing mostly original art and she gets a around 2000 views per artwork, tops (even though she is active at dA), while the other girl, who has a regular 10-year-old's drawing skills, got like, 50000 views on a Naruto/Hinata drawing once.

I don't know, just enjoy it.

I don't think she's unaware of the fact that men are just as gendered as women are in fiction, anon. I think she's saying that this is not as often their sole defining feature, as it is so often for female characters.

I don't think anybody would deny that many a male protagonist has I AM A MANLY MCMAN written on his forehead ;p

If anything, my fantasies have got less disturbing as I have grown up. Glad it's not just me, though. Of all the people who have posted secrets about messed up childgood fantasies, no-one has topped mine yet. xD

To be honest, by today's standards, she's pretty goddamn chaste. In all likelihood, she's wating for marriage.

[identity profile] mistress-siana.livejournal.com 2010-06-27 10:23 am (UTC)(link)
Our women's team won the World Cup twice in a row. That's well, kind of nice, according to the news, and some of them are even making an honest effort not to be sexist.

When someone on the man's team sprains an ankle, it's OMG BREAKING NEWS STOP THE PROGRAM WE'RE DOING A SPECIAL.

I love Eleven, but yeah, if I could choose one of these two - I'd so go with Nine! ♥

There is a firefox add-on, LeechBlock, which you can use to block certain sites for a while. Very useful if you need to finish a paper but you just can't stay away from livejournal. :)

(Anonymous) 2010-06-27 10:39 am (UTC)(link)
You are a GIGANTIC douche for using someone's picture like that. I can't imagine why you would think that was okay.

(Anonymous) 2010-06-27 10:41 am (UTC)(link)
It's not a contest, numbnuts.

[identity profile] foxhound.livejournal.com 2010-06-27 10:49 am (UTC)(link)
Your icon! It is so fabulous.

[identity profile] perfica.livejournal.com 2010-06-27 10:56 am (UTC)(link)
I would pay good money to see that happen.

(Anonymous) 2010-06-27 11:19 am (UTC)(link)
I meant more that, as of yet, none of them have really been that fucked up.

(Anonymous) 2010-06-27 11:21 am (UTC)(link)
This could have been written by me. I have three important exams next week and look what I´m doing. Good luck!

[identity profile] rally-pchan.livejournal.com 2010-06-27 11:50 am (UTC)(link)
Really? 'Cause I think ONTD is hilarious.

[identity profile] angary.livejournal.com 2010-06-27 12:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, good point. Now that I think about it, that would make for a hilarious episode on So NoTORIous: Sasan hooking up with Smudge and then introducing him to everyone and Tori being all, "Um, he's... he's you." And Sasan has no idea what she's talking about XD

Well, a character in my fandom was called a slut because she had the gall to almost-kiss one guy and went out for drinks with a different guy. That h0r!

[identity profile] kathkin.livejournal.com 2010-06-27 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the depressing thing is that, troll or not, there are people who really do think like this. >_

[identity profile] sky-queen3.livejournal.com 2010-06-27 01:45 pm (UTC)(link)
They want may credit for the composition of the icon. Despite it not seeming like a lot of work, it can be. Editing colour and cropping is work, as well as choosing good text.

As for fanart icons, icon makers should seek permission before using fanart as an icon base, most artists are cool as long as they are mentioned. :)

Personally, I’d like credit but I don’t demand it, as long as when asked they say they got it from me. Does that make any sense?

What's your oppinion on mini-movie/animated gif icons?
