There are some issues I have with the show, yes. I have the biggest crush on Jane Lynch, however, and they're not afraid to make it ridiculous. It's a love-hate relationship.

There will always be haters, for any fandom. It's much easier to come up with reasons for disliking something than liking it.

Same here. I've found that to be true with Mad Men and Deadwood, too. And personally, I don't even look for fic for those shows because I can't imagine anything any of us writes could be as satisfying as the writing/acting in the source material.

No, you're right. I mean, the way the Paz date was done didn't squick me because she wasn't as sexualised as I'd been expecting (and compared to how Kojima handled the BB Corp it was actually almost tasteful), but the 'Kaz was my favourite character until I found out he was a fag' crap on YouTube just makes me hate fanboy culture.

Homophobia aside, it's especially upsetting to me because the fact you get a choice between dating Kaz and Paz is one of the few intentional concessions to female gamers in the series. (Not that MGS isn't really girl-friendly insofar as games go, but I don't think Kojima ever has girls in mind when he writes it.) And so that just compounds homophobia and misogyny and makes me loathe everyone.

And the last thing that makes me rage is that it's not just on YouTube. I was checking a walkthrough for some info about the different outfits, and it had a really obnoxious comment about the Pink camo (http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/9/2010/05/500x_pink_snake.jpg) that 'it should be worn by female soldiers only, unless Big Boss is on a date with Kaz'. In a walkthrough. What the hell.

I write fanfic and I love Breaking Bad... but I don't intend to write fanfic for Breaking Bad. Like JLH said already, it's very tightly plotted. Plus, it's so damn good that anything I'd write would be an injustice to it.

Ha, I guess it's a good thing that the fans are so satisfied with Breaking Bad that there isn't a need for fanfic... Hm, that'd be a hell of a research topic. So The Wire was pretty barren too? I know critics are head over heels for that show (starting to watch it, pretty awesome so far).

It'd be neat to find a relationship between "superb" writing and the magnitude (or lack thereof) of a fandom. Although that'd probably end up sparking a bunch of controversy...

Yes, in that he finds her diary entries in which All Is Revealed (By Means Of Cute Interludes About Kittens, Soccer, And Female Bonding Via Cookery). If you mean, did he know before jumping in that box with her (I must be the only person who uses the boxtank because she specifically says she loves it)...a) it's an optional 'mission' so whether you play it before or after reading her diary entries (or not at all) is up to you, though it does first become available before you can start finding her diaries, and b) in any case it's the other way around - she jumps him.

That's not Lasseter being self-deprecating, that's you reading too deeply into shit. Calling it hand-drawn animation at its finest does not mean he's saying Disney animation cannot also qualify for this title, unless there's some part I missed where he also said "...way better than OUR shitty films DOHOHOHO".

Kristoph is a nasty guy for sure and fairly clever to boot, but no, he doesn't really strike me as a major villain. I think that and Klavier's codependence on him are trumped up A LOT in fandom compared to what's actually in the game.

I didn't like Buffy and Spike myself, but I don't know how much I can blame Joss for all the inter-workings of the later seasons of Buffy since he wasn't even very much involved (usually his overall ideas were present but he was very busy at the time.)

It's a fine line between personal preference and bad writing though, I don't think Buffy is devoid of bad writing, I just think you have to be careful when pointing to what is and what isn't (I'm no expert at that either.)

Look at the most recent animated, non-Pixar Disney movies. While the animation isn't "4 year old with a crayon" bad, or even necessarily bad at all, it doesn't have the detail and gorgeous-ness of a Miyazaki film.

I'm not a "ZOMGMIYAZAKIISTHEBESTEVAR" fangirl. I like his movies, but agree with a lot of posters here that his stuff does seem repetitive after a while. You can't, however, disagree that they're beautiful.

I do too, seriously. It's the same thing with Deadwood. Shows that are actually crafted impeccably just seem to be enough for viewers, I think. Or, at the very least, viewers are wary about contributing to already terrific writing.

It would be gilding the lily. I'm always kinda sad that there is less of a Deadwood fandom, but really... I wouldn't want any fic. I don't think any writer could hold a candle to the original screenwriting.
