12. I prefer yaoi because it's less realistic. :)

And yaoi is realistic if you make it that way, geez people; you know, with the right words of course.

Ha ha. I keep hearing people say that, even a year later. It makes me wonder how many were watching us before we called it quits...?

2. PAUL IS KAWAII UKE-CHAN N-E-WAYZ. D:

9. I've got the same problem. And he's far from the kind of guy anyone should be idolizing.

OP, here

(Anonymous) 2007-05-22 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, it's the same with me. I'm surprised I've picked up the traits I picked up from him without getting the really frikken negative ones as well.

I really loved this secrets post. ♥

1. I love pairing people off when it comes to an anime series. BUT. I can be perfectly fine without pairing people off from games [for example, FF8 - FF10, just because the proposed pairings are...well...kind of unappealing]. I sometimes wish I could do the same thing for animes. I would be able to appreciate more from the series, most definitely, if that were the case.

2. Hot.

3. tonnes = tons. TONS. D8 And if you feel like that in an RPG that you're participating in...either solve the problem, or find another game to go to.

5. HMMMM. This makes me want to keep an eye out...

6. What I really want to find is another good Phoenix Wright-verse roleplay...like a hardcore, life-absorbing game with fantastic characterization. I want to put Phoenix into his element again. ♥ I get the feeling I would have to create it, though. :|

13. I never joined CR because of that exact reason. There are TONS of terrible posts to wade through...and I don't have the time to slog through all of it.

6 here

(Anonymous) 2007-05-23 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
I would LOVE that! That's exactly how I felt during the old RP. It was such a blast to be involved in such an awesome game. (Though I always was weary about being IC. I guess it was because I never really played a main character before...) If you started it, I would definitely apply! ♥

But if you don't, I might actually be tempted to do it myself now. @_@

9. The way I see it... so what if (s)he's a fictional character? You found a positive role model, and followed him/her. Forget this crap about not being strong enough to fix yourself. What do you think the point of role models are? Why does the world have therapists? It's because most people try, but still need some help changing themselves for the better. You're still the one who became stronger and more independent. Don't berate yourself just because the person you follow happens to not be real.

9. Some people tend to roleplay characters that are similar to them because it's easier- and you're not alone, I'm actually quite that way too.

10. ...this is such a sad secret.

#12.

(Anonymous) 2007-05-23 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
You keep telling yourself that.

[identity profile] luzerna.livejournal.com 2007-05-23 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
3. You answered your own question. Don't lurk! Get involved in the game, even if it's just with your friend at first. That way people can see what you're like and get to know you. They can't love you if they don't know who you are, remember.

9. I do this too! =D

13. Just don't tell them you made an account there if it scares you so much. Nobody needs to know.

ALSO.

2. She's better looking as a woman.

2.) You know, that person in the picture turned me off. But then I read the thing about he really being a she.. and that's a BIG turn-on. I like girls that look like boys. People throw around uke like it's vomit at a bar.. it's sickening.. really

3.) I like Loveless but only for the canon Yuri. Ritsuka and Soubi are cute... but definitely not what makes me want to read more of it.

7.) I feel sorry for you! Ewww.. just eww. Some things are just better left unsaid.

9.) Wherever you draw strength from I think. Strength is strength, regardless of the source, and if you are made confident through something like that, I don't call you crazy.. (it sort of makes me smile because I remember when I was going through a very hard point in my life and I was watching Utena, and I took strength from trying to be a 'prince' like Utena... but then I was going through a really shitty point in my life.

15.) Agreed!

NO cosplay?

Good thing that it wasn't a series called Star Trek that started slash. And started conventions. And started the concept of dressing up as characters.

But I guess since you're a "smart fan", you probably already know that. D:

Srsly, better immature people who have the vague notion that they're immature than immature people who are fucking elitist about it.

2. Holy shit, that's female? o_0 Damn, need to call my mom now, I think I just figured out what my sexuality is!

[personal profile] vangirl 2007-05-23 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
9. ...HOLY CRAP. Do I know you? Are you me? Because seriously, I totally did a double take and wondered if I somehow wrote that secret without knowing. I've just...been there. ...and I probably still am in a way but I doubt that's a secret to anyone who knows me. Dx

The way I see it, you found a role-model and managed to make yourself more like him/her. I see nothing wrong with that, even if the role-model is a fictional character. |3

[identity profile] icemilk.livejournal.com 2007-05-23 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
2. Male or female, I would hit it.

5. Seeing Landel's in the secrets made me giddy. :]

15. Most of the time I skip over the links and look for wank in the comments. It's usually a lot better there. X)

[identity profile] chikapus.livejournal.com 2007-05-23 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
1. Don't worry, you're not the only one. I usually prefer gen.

2. That's kind of making me interested in the game now.

9. ♥ I love that book. and the movie

[identity profile] pretentioustfu.livejournal.com 2007-05-23 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
12: Yaoi and slash are the same thing. Different words for different cultures, e.g. yaoi is Japanese source and slash is American source, but there's no reason either can't be as realistic (or unrealistic) as the writer wants. It's about good writing, not about your cultural approach or your name.

Also, your bashing of "creepy otaku" makes me laugh. Um, unless you're the kind of fan who doesn't write fanfiction, doesn't do fanart, doesn't participate in "the fandom" at all aside from watching/reading/playing ONCE and moving on to something else, "normal society" views YOU as a creepy otaku just as much as it does me. Pot, meet kettle or "normal fan" meet "crazy otaku".

*sigh*

[identity profile] happy-cupcake.livejournal.com 2007-05-23 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
1. I wish I could do that!

[identity profile] forchancookie.livejournal.com 2007-05-23 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
4. I read scanlations of Loveless so long ago. Recently, I watched the anim and started reading through the manga again, but i just can't get into it. I'm tempted to blame the fans as well >_> I can't see what all the squeeing is about. It's cute sometimes, but it's also pretty dark, occasionally hitting on something deep but also drifting through bouts of fluff. I dunno, it just does nothing for me. I blame Yun Kouga for not knowing how to tell a damn story. Love her, enjoyed Earthian, but honestly wished she'd get an actual writer to tell the story while she just sat back and drew pretty pictures. x_x

7. I feel your pain ;_;

8. More fangirl populated fandoms means that anything there is instantly more popular, especially if it contains a favored pairing. Sucks, but that's how it is.

11. I saw that XD I don't know the characters so I can't comment on that, but I did feel a sense of sadness for the poor guy. He was completely emasculated there.

12. Blah blah blah shut up. -_-
Sorry, but slash is not more realistic. Hello! Harry Potter slash? Harry/dead father? Harry/Voldemort? Harry/Unicorn/Hagrid?
Opinion.
Don't kid yourself, slash writers have plenty of stereotypes.
Opinion. If anything, it has more older fans/writers as opposed to yaoi that draws in younger fans who then produce questionable material, but they're young and they're learning. (This is not an excuse for everyone, some people just suck, yes, in slash fandoms too)
Fangirls, braindead or otherwise, stupid, and wank are everywhere. Again, Harry Potter fandom anyone? You have all three in spades.
If you think nobody cosplays slash fandoms, you're stupid.
There are always otaku. An otaku is any super obsessed fan, and yes, there are super obsessed slash fans.
Opinion.
Opinion.
Opinion.

Wah wah wah. If you want slash friends go out and make them and stop whining about the friends you have. You're the only one to blame for friending them.

15. But it's so funny for the rest of us to read about. I laugh XD

On a random note, I'm tired of hearing about RPers falling in love with each other. I love my rp partners and all, but as friends! I like their characters as characters. If you can't separate yourself from your character and your friend from their character, you need to stop role playing. SRSLY! It's called role play for a reason!

It's perfectly possible to fall in love with a roleplayer for who they are OOC, since you start talking and all. The secrets aren't about "I love this person's character," it's "I love this person," you know? I don't find it so stupid.

7. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA OH GEEZ.
12. PLEASE WRITE THIS ARTICLE. Seriously.

To number 9

(Anonymous) 2007-05-23 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
I understand. Really. I know that's easy to say for some random person on the internet, but when I read that secret I stared at the screen with my mouth hanging open and went "Wait, I didn't write a secret like tha... oh, wait" for a moment.
For me, it was Luke from Tales of the Abyss (I can say that because well, no one knows how much "one of my drive-by fandoms" really means to me in that respect). I saw him change for the better and was... kind of envious. When something bad happens, he at first said "It's not my fault" and that's how I have been acting, too. It's selfish and all, but whenever something bad happend or whenever it was actually me who did something wrong, I blamed circumstances (or others). Not openly, but in my mind, and it really made me feel bad when I thought about it.
And Luke... well, in a way he taught me how to change and all.

Sometimes I feel like you do about it, thinking it's crazy, but then I tell myself, if I, like this fictional character, change for the better, it's not really all that important why, right?

Sorry for the tl;dr. >.<

4.

Loveless is crap, but Earthian isn't that great either... I don't know if it's really fair to draw a comparison.

1. Actually, FMA is one of the series where I can't imagine anyone together. It's such an enjoyable anime that I don't think there really needs a lot of sexual tension/love. For me, it's the same with some other series too. Although, it depends on the characters, really.

I don't know the difference.

But I'm doing just fine, thanks.

...and absolutes are hard to listen to.

You know?
