Well then- maybe it's just me, but I felt a fast connection to Amy, Rory, and even the Doctor in this past series. Though, granted I've only gotten up through 3 episodes of Season 2. I just think that everyone's going to have some characters they connect with, and some they don't.

I think Moffat just tends to go for more quiet and sometimes subtle developments that not everyone's going to pick up on on the first watch-through. But that's just what I think. *shrugs*

Same. I kind of realized I didn't really even care that 11, Rory and Amy were continuing on, whereas I was desperately attached to all the characters in S1-S4.

Even if I didn't like a character I usually had more of an emotional reaction in series 1-4. I'm also hoping I get more attached in series 6.

I'm not saying 'don't donate' - of course you should if you can, I've donated, I know a ton of people who've donated.

At the same time, it cannot be understated how much good there is behind #helpjapan, both from the domestic and internationals giving support and those receiving it. At a time when most people there only have internet (most internet access there is via phone) japanese people are repeatedly being thankful for any support, and it helps to stamp down the just as voluminous hatred such as large chunks of Facebook suddenly posting about Pearl Harbour.

Instead of having any helpful qualities, Amy was just adds more (unneeded) whimsy and craziness to the Doctor. I get that she's really excited to be a companion but she's just so immature. Both Rory and 11 only enable her further.

It's the odd personality of Amy's I find so irritating.

There's no balance. Rory is the straightman of the group, which is why fans like him so much. Amy and 11th make a bad combination; Amy needs some fucking growing up.

I don't know that second watch throughs really help, I watched series 5 twice but I still feel less attached to Moffat's characters then I did to RTD's.

I may get attached with more time, but I loved 9 pretty quickly so I think it's okay to assume I'm just not loving the characterization.

I feel potential to love the characters since I do like them, I'm just not quite there yet.

This just makes me think of my friend telling another friend he looks like the Mad Hatter. Now she hits him every time that's mentioned. I'm not expert in acting, his acting included, but I'm convinced he's probably at least a decent actor who got bad direction in the Twilight movies. Plus the material itself sucks. Hard to pull out gold from crap. :/
