#1 - YES IT IS.

#7 - There is a little gen out there but...the non-slash community's such a bunch of pricks - you put anything there and they just make fun of you. The slash community's full of idiots. There isn't any het because, well, no one liked whatsherface, and any other females would be / have been self-inserts, so don't wish for it.

#17 - I agree - you have to kind of admire someone who is SO INTO what he is doing, even when the rest of the world is kind of making fun of it.

Re 7

It's true. After making that secret, I realized how weird the people in the fandom were.

I guess I'll have to put up with what's there already.

[identity profile] kinneas.livejournal.com 2007-06-16 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
7. DO YOU FOLKS LIKE COFFEE?!?! STRAIGHT FROM THE HILLS OF COLOMBIA

8. Have you even seen a dead body before? In person? And no, I don't mean this condescendingly; I am just genuinely curious if you have any idea what you're truly wishing for in the non-history sense and what exactly it entails. (
Dead people, especially after the livor mortis and the bloating set in, are disgusting and at times horrifying, btw.)

11. <33333 So much love for this secret. Y'know though, for me it's not even pretty vs not so pretty, it's usually a matter of age. You must be at least thirty (with a few exceptions) to pass ;[

12. You should really give TV a try =\ I mean, yeah, a lot of it is shitty CSI-knockoff and Fox crap, but some is genuinely good and not "cliche" (primetime eg Ugly Betty, Heroes, 30 Rock, House, Jericho, Raines, etc). You don't even have to search anymore come fall, what with serialized dramas being the prominent feature nowadays.

Seconded recommend on House and Heroes.

[identity profile] pretentioustfu.livejournal.com 2007-06-16 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
These are the two fandoms that made me like American TV somewhat again. House/Wilson and Hiro/Ando forever. ♥

9.) LOL OMG. Being part of this, I'm kind of paranoid and also flattered. XD WHOEVER DID THIS, JUST OMG. *flails* YOU PUT US ON THE SPOT, LULZ.

[identity profile] pretentioustfu.livejournal.com 2007-06-16 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
8. Don't glorify war. It's a miserable, painful experience that will eventually lead to nothing being left on Earth but rats and roaches, who hopefully (if there is any justice) will evolve the capacity to laugh at the stupid humans who nuked their civilization to a radioactive ruin.

11: So you like older and more "manly" men for the most part. That's fine. Some of us like bishounen and less rugged geeky types. That's fine too. I'm kind of tired of people acting like liking anything but the Rugged Rough Manly Man Stereotype is some sort of "childish" or "fangirl" thing. and Hiro > Mohinder. Deal.

12: Honestly, I'm annoyed with the concept of "weeaboo." Yes, there are some REALLY annoying and batshit anime/manga/Jrock/whatever fans. That DOESN'T mean the great majority of us don't at least try to be somewhat culturally sensitive, don't go around babbling in Japanese, and do understand that every culture including Japan is 90 percent crap and 10 percent YES THIS IS THE BEST EVER. So we like Japanese stuff. What harm is that to you? *headdesk*

[identity profile] kinneas.livejournal.com 2007-06-16 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
12. I think the problem comes from people that are fans of Japanese stuff going out of their way to bash Western stuff, but that's just my perspective :\

#13: OH JESUS GOD DO NOT WANT. Like... okay. Granted, it probably depends on the nature of the relationship, but for me, in a lot of ways sex and RPing smut couldn't be further apart. So to know my RPing partner is seeking fulfillment in a way that I don't want to be intimate with them enough to provide is... D:

#14: This is different. Sure, maybe it IS a little TMI to know that someone's spanking it to my fics, but it's still kinda flattering. XD; But then, that's because the person is getting off to my writing, and not to me.

[identity profile] longlongwaytogo.livejournal.com 2007-06-16 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
1. Not heard of that book but you're right, that IS a really great name!
Though I like the character's name in the Jasper Fforde books- Thursday Next.

5. yay, Reboot! I'd forgotten they were blues and greens!
10. That'd be hilarious.

what's a weeaboo? :S
15. yay, chaser
17... who's that?

[identity profile] maeda.livejournal.com 2007-06-16 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
17 Richard Simmons. :b

1) I love that book so. The first chapter owns me.

4) Word. Just... word. (I write GW fanfic and I can't stand the series. XD)

12) I finally looked up "weeaboo" because I had no idea what it meant. And now I'm worried that people will think I'm one because I play the koto (it's a really cool instrument), am taking Japanese (because I got sick of definite articles and irregular verbs when I took German), read manga (in Japanese since it's good practice), and like Japanese food best (because it doesn't upset my stomach). ;_;

See my posts upthread. ^_^ There's nothing bad about liking stuff from Japanese culture, and IMO anyone who labels you a "weeaboo" for choosing to like some parts of a culture that you were not born into is being an ass.

2. I'd say something smart like 'welcome to my world' but fortunately, pretty much every writer who tackles my OTP (as seen in the icon) does it well. I just want more of it. Insatiable, I know.

5. REBOOT! :D Oh man, that was my favorite cartoon EVER when I was a kid. I fangirled like an idiot at AN just because one of the designers for S4 was there. (He autographed my ReBoot art book. 8D)

11. It's funny, but... I'm doing the same. While pretty boys are lovely, men with a little more testosterone are HOT. (Who's the third guy on the top? The one with glasses? He's sexy. <3)

13. Wow. Um... I can see how that would be uncomfortable! Still, it's kind of flattering, really. In a stalker-ish weird way.)

14. Now that sort of thing IS flattering. Yeah, I'm weird, but... isn't that part of writing smut? I mean, honestly. It's meant to be erotic. (Though there's some things I've written that I'd be frankly horrified if someone told me they wanked to it.)

17. ................. MY EYES THEY BURN X_x

18. I am too, hon. So don't be ashamed. it's a pain in the ass, but don't let that stop you!

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_dahne_/ 2007-06-16 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
11. Otacon, from Metal Gear Solid. He is made of awesome and adorable and fabulously rampant subtext with the tough manly main character the American voice actors totally ship it and looking more and more like Hide Kojima and everyone should play this series now.

Gosh, I've gotten to do a lot of pimping today.

4. Wow, you must have been sick of explaining yourself. xD If anything, I got what you were saying and didn't think you were a pretentious twat? A lot of people word their secrets maliciously because that's how they were feeling at the time, I think, so things get misinterpreted. *shrug*

8. I understand what you mean, but for the other side. I have always wanted to be a protester in the sixties. I really just want that rebellious spirit to come again, I think people are too... apathetic about things these days. At least people in the sixties gave a shit.

Dude, totally. I mean, I enjoy writing fanfiction (and almost conceitedly, reading my own fanfiction) but at the same time, it's much more fun to read someone else's work.

It's like scanlating. I scanlated a manga once and it wasn't half as fun as reading the series. =/ Just the hard work, prolly.

[identity profile] maeda.livejournal.com 2007-06-16 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
1 Agreed.

2 Oh man, forget Fayt, but I have a massive boycrush on Cliff. His voice actor could have done to sound a little less stereotypical, but beyond that...

11 ... I think they're all hot, or at the very least good-looking. :| (Except for Orlando Bloom. God damn, that dude truly IS fugly.)

17 I don't care what anyone thinks - that picture is awesome.

[identity profile] kyaa.livejournal.com 2007-06-16 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
2. I know I know I know. It makes me feel like I'm too picky about characterization or something!!

8. If you think you're cool for thinking that = lame. If not, get a shrink. Like. Stat.

10. Art snob here thinking the designs are ugly :/

11. I would sex Mohinder any day of the week.

17. Yeah, me too. I mean, he's far too perky and obnoxious for my personal tastes, but damn, I mean - he's got a sense of humor about being a running joke and that's really cool.

[identity profile] jazz-glass.livejournal.com 2007-06-16 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
8. I wish I was born in the early 20's just so I could live through the Great Depression. Because I'm insane. (I also think the men were so much sexier back then as were the styles. Then I could also fangirl Charlie Parker and Gerry Mulligan, but that's just me.) Some of us were born in the wrong time period. =(

(Anonymous) 2007-06-16 10:32 am (UTC)(link)
8 - Insane people unite!

What's weirding me out is all the people telling me that ohmygod, Vietnam was traumatic, ohmygod, you would be killed, and I know all that but I still want to be there. I feel like that was my time period, as bad as it was.

Hi, #4,

I don't believe I've heard of 0079. But if it's that good I'll probably have to check it out, considering I am a fan of Gundam Wing. Thanks so much!

17. Break me off a peice of that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

17.

I admire him too. He's a true philanthropist who's done a world of good for people who couldn't help themselves. He's saved a lot of lives, and yet all he ever gets is jokes about what a giddy twink he is.

Solidarity, Richard. <3 Respect!

I've seriously being trying to understand this one all night. I can't. As someone who lived through the Troubles in Ireland, even I don't come remotely close to going through something like Vietnam and yet I would never desire to go through that again.

I really don't think you can understand what living through something like that is like. I wasn't even a target in the Troubles and yet I did fear for my safety at times.

I am recovering from illness related post traumatic stress disorder and that is no fun either. I'm not going to go into it, I'd rather no,t but this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post-traumatic_stress_disorder - is a start.

From your responses I really don't believe you actually want this secret to come through. It seems like you're trying to stir shit. Perhaps not. Perhaps your just not very good at explaining your position.

Regardless, I think 8 is idiotic.

Yeah, yeah, you can come along now and go 'You can't tell me what to think', well newsflash, I can tell you whatever I want. You don't have to listen, frankly I don't care if you do, but I can say whatever I want.

(Anonymous) 2007-06-16 10:27 am (UTC)(link)
8 - I didn't know the response would be so overwhelmingly negative when I made the secret. After getting them, though, I'm getting pissed off. Newsflash, people can state opinions and frankly, you never had to listen either, and I can say whatever I want.

I still wish I were there. :)

Totally with 4. The best alternate universe Gundams are the ones that do something besides strip-mine UC for ideas, like G, Turn-A, and...well, G and Turn-A, really. G made Gundam into an unabashed super robot show and it worked out great, Turn-A turned it into more of a character-driven...steampunk isn't the right word, but I'll go with it, drama and it worked out great, the rest just ripped off UC and weren't nearly as good.

Or maybe I'm just getting sick of A CHARs. And again, the best ones aren't really Char knock-offs at all.

(I'll admit to kind of liking SEED Astray, but it won my heart with the Powered Red Frame in Super Robot Wars W. 150 meter long katana? HAHAHAHAHA YES. ....Not that I ever really used him anyway, but the GGG units take up a lot of space. Sorry Lowe, you're cool, but you're not a Yuusha or Voltron so you can sit in the hanger.)
