Nah, people who truly aren't interested in sex can't be arsed to give this much of a shit about what others fap to. My guess is they were raised by religious wingnuts of some stripe or another, because those are the only people I've ever encountered who are this militantly anti-porn.

I think you've missed a couple of points. The first is that Harry has spent years with the Dursleys pounding "Don't ask questions!" into his head. And the grownups beyond the Dursleys (his teachers at school, for example) don't appear to have championed him much beyond insisting that he get glasses. He hasn't been given a lot of books to read, hasn't ever been encouraged to develop his own interests, doesn't go on outings, doesn't even have any friends to stimulate his mind with conversations. Not until he gets to Hogwarts. If Harry's learned anything from his life before Hogwarts it's that when you put your head up someone tries to take it off. That sort of life doesn't make for a scholar. It makes for a kid who does what he's asked to do and hopes that no one will punish him for doing it wrong.

Not to mention that he doesn't value himself all that much. Year after year he takes stupid chances with his own life whenever he's convinced that if he dies he will have saved others. :/

rofl dude the vast majority of religion doesn't teach SEX IS SINFUL, they teach the conditions desired prior to having sex. The emphasis is on how SPECIAL and SACRED it is, something the media lacks with how casually they toss it around.

I'm as annoyed by some people's need to slash everything under the sun as the next person (and I mainly read/write slash!), but I don't think this is the best example for a "Really, slashers? Really?" secret. Two people from different worlds meet, form an unlikely and longlasting friendship, learn from each other, and become reliant on each other as they go onto great, world-changing things? Portrayed by actors who developed a well-publicized bromance during filming? I don't slash them personally, but I think anyone with even healthy, relatively loose slash goggles could see why this might lead to some people shipping the characters and/or actors.

All I'm saying is if you're going to worry about someone's slash goggles becoming too tight, it should be because of a truly incomprehensible pairing. This isn't one. Your friend doesn't have a problem, IMO (although you might...)

I would kill for the series to continue. I really don't think the fourth book was meant to be the end. It just feels so...unfinished.

The magic of the Enchanted Forest was just so amazing. The dragon kings and queens kind of annoyed me because keeping the names didn't actually make the concept more egalitarian- it just made queen a weaker ruler than king, no matter the gender. Also, soapy, lemony water vanquishing wizards? Most awesome interpretation evar.

Totally know what you mean. I think SPN's a bit of fun (not in the fandom), but an episode does not pass without one or both of them taking their shirts off and oiling themselves up/getting soaking wet/flexing their muscles.

I guess the makers know their audience :/

These books are awesome! I was actually thinking about them the other day. I had the whole series, and I think I gave them to my cousin to read years ago. Now that I think of it, I wonder if she still has them, because I would love to have them back to read to my niece.

Aw, me too. I loved the GFs in FFVIII. Shiva & Quezacotl were my go to summons. I used them like crazy and loved Shiva's animation. I can still remember the sound it made. lol

this mindset has always kind of bothered me. I mean I don't care if it's just a preference over old vs. new, like the secret pretty much means.
But I have friends who refused to play the newer games because their summons weren't the same, and I've seen people who hated the new games for this reason and only this reason.
