I've read so many fics where I get to the end and go WTF just happened?? I usually ending up reading the reviews to understand, which makes me think everyone but me gets them, so I guess it's a case of YMMV, but I do prefer when things are explicitly stated.

This. I don't ship things to get me off, I ship what makes me squee and what I think would make sense.

I get that other people tend to ship for their porn (and that's okay), but being straight doesn't automatically mean you can't ship m/m or f/f, or that being gay means that you can't ship het pairings.

See I'm not quite sure exactly how many shows have them, but I do know there are a fair few. Assuming from pictures of guys kissing in secrets on here there are ENOUGH with valid gay guys but fair enough if you don't like the show, or the intended 'theme' where the producers are setting out to make some deal or other about homosexuality.

Okay, from my perspective, it seems to me that more people UNDERSTAND this behavior (the men watching lesbian porn), while so many people just can't or refuse to understand why a girl could ever enjoy m/m porn. Though to your point, from my very limited anti-social perspective, they both get about as much rage.

[Honestly, I am most excited about Edgar Wright, I think the man is a brilliant writer. I cannot tell you how many times I have watched Hot Fuzz. It's a little bit ridiculous. However it's caused me to come to the conclusion that the man is brilliant, because I swear he writes so tightly and does not waste a line. And on top of that he's hilarious :D]


I admit to being mildly concerned about the animation style, but I am willing to give it a shot, because I don't think I can give a fully informed decision until I actually see it in theatre.

But the fact is, CGI that tries to emulate humans as realistically as possible will always fall into the Uncanny Valley territory. CGI simply isn't advanced enough (at least, not yet) to not look slightly off and creepy. It's the same problem games like L.A Noire or Heavy Rain suffer from. They try to make the characters look as realistic as possible, yet there's still that unnatural fakeness due to it being CGI as opposed to real people.

I remember seeing a couple of clips of Odin from FFIX as a kid and thought him and his horse were the coolest characters ever. Then, I was disappointed to learn he wasn't as much a character as he was an attack/move/item, at least from the explainations I got.

Uncanny Valley: The uncanny valley is a hypothesis in the field of robotics and 3D computer animation, which holds that when human replicas look and act almost, but not perfectly, like actual human beings, it causes a response of revulsion among human observers.

So no, they really haven't avoided it at all. The more realistic an animator tries to make their CGI humans, the more they will fall into the Uncanny Valley. Because no matter how good a CGI human might be, they will never look quite "right".

Yeah, I'd actually guess the problem is not so much the wait as the way the show has been steadily losing steam since the beginning. I really want to like it more but the season 2 premiere didn't do much to grab me back into it and I just can't see how they're going to keep the concept interesting. :/

I was pretty disinterested in this version of Andrea until that argument with Dale, who has been irking me so much. Seriously made me love her right there even if I'd never support her suicide; it was her choice, and Dale had no right to coerce her.
