Why hello fetish I had no clue existed until tonight.

I'm pretty sure the skullfucking fic was written to be shocking more than it was written to get people off. But there is so much kink-shaming - fandom likes to tell itself it's open and accepting of all weirdnesses and perversions and it really, really isn't. If you like 'mainstream' kink, you're fine, you're among friends. If you like anything truly weird, you're a sicko, and we don't want to see that in our archive/community/kinkmeme! Eeew!

Agreed, Anon, I hate that any kink outside of the ~mainstream ones are frowned upon. I have a lot of kinks that people would cause people to do some major side-eying at me if they found out, and it makes me sad. :(

I've always been of the mindset that as long as you're not doing anyone (or anything) any non-consensual harm, then have whatever kinks you like.

Yep yep yep. I don't do much but read on kink memes because what I want to request aren't 'approved' kinks. I mean sure, I like spanking but there's already 100 prompts with that same request!

The weirdest thing is how kinks become 'mainstream'. Like maybe five, six years ago, if you requested knotting fic there'd probably be only a scant few people who knew what you were talking about and there'd be a whole lot of kink shaming from everyone else. And now it's everywhere. (Disclaimer: Not kink-shaming knotting, just fascinated by the way it's become as much a meme staple as spanking and bondage.)

I think kink memes in general go through trends, and kinks you'd think would be too specialised or too conflicting with canon ideals become huge. Like the huge number of cutesy gore pics and fics for Kurt/Blaine. I was genuinely surprised to find out it was so popular.

I think the weirdest part is what exactly has become mainstream. When have you ever heard of mpreg as a kink outside of fandom? But in the last week, people have freaked out over bestiality on this comm, generally defended necrophilia, and decried Nazi-fetishization, all of which I've actually seen porn for in the real world (okay, not necrophilia, but if I were to mention it to people they would know what the hell it is).

Also, what do you want to bet that had this exact secret been posted w/o the last bit about "why is my kink not as acceptable as yours?" that people would have gone nuts over how wrong it is? My kink is not your kink is the magical way to get discourse instead of judgement.

Uh, I still don't quite understand what dolcett is (although I'm beginning to get the picture) but um. I can see why they went after you (and I'm sorry) but I'm also pretty sure the skullfucking one got a lot of personal attacks, from within the fandom and out of it.

IMHO, the skull fucking thing was a lot worse than what this kink is, if only because this kink seems to ignore any sort of logic (people being still alive while impaled, people experiencing no pain while being mutilated, etc). It's pure fantasy, whereas the skull fucking thing was pretty realistic.

I'm not sure about the skullfucking one, but some of the shock fics came from people being pissed off about the strikethrough business. I remember someone from school showing me a fic their friend had written that strived to be the most disgusting thing ever written... without including any underage ships or noncon. If the skullfucking one was the same thing (or even some form of trolling for some other reason), I can see how somebody might think it's okay to write seriously disturbing shit to mess with people, but not to write seriously disturbing shit when it's actually your thing?

I mean, I don't think it should be banned and they certainly shouldn't have done what they did. Gore is not for everyone, but if you need to expand a thread to read any of the potentially squicky parts, nobody is really harmed by it existing, especially if the kink meme does allow and accept things like noncon and abuse. (Full disclosure: I like gore. Not sexually, but I enjoy a lot of fics that would make many people very uncomfortable.) But your request and the shock fics really aren't the same thing?

I'm always weirded out by what does and doesn't get dog-piled on a kink meme. I mean, I'm totally not into your kink OP, but my fondness for torture, non-con, and snuff fic isn't any better. Generally it's pretty well-received when I prompt for it, though. *feels bad for OP*

Just out of curiosity, did you prompt using the word "Dolcett"? Because describing a kink instead of naming it can work a lot better, because then you express part of why you think it's sexy. When you make people Google search, you never have any idea what information they'll end up with, or how they'll interpret it.

Situations like this are why I'm so hesitant to post prompts or the most graphic parts of my own fics even in a fandom that heavily involves torture as part of the canon.

I genuinely hope you get your prompt filled by someone eventually.
