Oh my goodness, I thought I was the only one who shipped it.

I'm so glad you're here to tell us what has value and what doesn't

you're like one of those enlightened people who realized that animated movies are less worthy than the superior live action ones

guide me, oh wise one

[identity profile] agentak.livejournal.com 2011-11-25 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I adore Donna. She is, and always will be, my favorite.

[identity profile] mistressmerr.livejournal.com 2011-11-25 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
There is no resolution to that plot that wouldn't be horribly anticlimactic, they spent seven goddamn go-nowhere episodes on a storyline that only really had two possible outcomes and they went the edgier one. Big whoop. Curious as to how the OP has actually seen the episode in question, though.

Oh, you're right. I guess that what you get when you've been reading textbooks all day.

:( Well, OP. I hope you find one someday.

[identity profile] vickyblueeyez.livejournal.com 2011-11-25 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
what's this?

(Anonymous) 2011-11-25 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Her role on the bridge wasn't therapist, it was empath -- she helped by reading the feelings of the aliens they encountered, limiting misunderstandings and helping to detect hostile intentions.

[identity profile] agentak.livejournal.com 2011-11-25 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, came here to say this. In any gender-changing characters/plots, I always lose track when they are constantly refered to (in the writing, not in dialogue) by their actual gender.

Awww, so sorry anon. *hugs*

I think there seems to be this idea that the memory needs to be a huge, significant, once in a lifetime moment, like a wedding day or a special birthday or, of course, receiving your letter to Hogswarts. But I don't think that's necessarily the case - the memories are just to help you produce the emotions you need to summon the Patronus, but they're not a specific requirement for the spell. They're just an aid, a teaching method. So if you can recall any time you laughed until you cried (even if it was just at a tv show or whatever) or a song that uplifts you or anything like that, if you could let yourself get swept up in that emotion, then you'd be able to summon a Patronus. After all, Harry doesn't have to search deep inside himself for a happy memory each time, it's only when he's learning and he doesn't know how to create that emotion without the guide of a memory.

I guess what I'm saying is, it's the little things that can make us happy enough to glow, you don't always need a Significant Moment to focus on, and so I hope you have at least one small moment you can recall, one experience or film or image that always makes you smile, that can help you stay positive or at least happily distract you when things seem most difficult.

[identity profile] jessieheart.livejournal.com 2011-11-25 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think that your "happy thought" has to be anything revolutionary, it just has to be real to you. It doesn't have to be this detailed, concrete memory of the Best Thing Ever, it just has to be something that made you genuinely happy, like a childhood friend or a family dinner. I'm sure that you have something, OP. It's in there, I promise.

[identity profile] ariseishirou.livejournal.com 2011-11-25 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Who wasn't? :/ This shouldn't be a secret.

(Actually, there was data released just a little while back that 30-40% of CoD players never touch the multiplayer, purchasing the game purely for the single player campaign and offline co-op and spec ops modes. That amounts to like eight million people playing the game for the campaign. Source. (http://www.thetechgame.com/News/article/sid=1020.html) That CoD is an MP-only game is one of the most egregious misconceptions in the gaming world right now.)

What? Just because you read and enjoy a lot of books that have alcohol doesn't make you an alcoholic. Most of the books I read (for fun, not school) have alcohol or drug references and scenes where the characters go to parties and get wasted, yet I've never had alcohol or done drugs. And I have no interest in ever doing so.

That being said, I'm sorry you feel those books you had to read influenced you in a negative way. People are probably going to get on your case and tell you if you were in high school, you should've been mature enough to handle hearing about those things... but the fact of the matter is, people are impressionable and repeated exposure to certain ideas does change our perspectives. (Not to say it's okay to blame our problems on the media, but I do think we should be careful about the kinds of materials we take in, and especially the kinds of things we make students read in school.) So, sorry to hear that, and I hope you get the help you need.

idk, if anything I could see him as loki

or maybe Eris

[identity profile] foxhound.livejournal.com 2011-11-25 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Assuming that a character is white, unless stated otherwise, is a stupid.

Cinna did not have much of a physical description in the book. He has gold eyeliner, short dark hair, looks normal, and has green eyes. Save for the green eyes, Lenny Kravitz has all of this. To say he looks nothing like how he did in the book is just wrong.

There's nothing wrong with having a picture of a character in your head, but to get butthurt over the fact that they cast a black guy when his race was never stated, makes you sound a little racist.

But now you can relate to beautiful songs about mutual love.

That's just a picture. I'm more wondering how they know it came from 'an awesomely awful scene!!!'

Comics aren't only about superheroes. I don't understand why you're being so dismissive when you acknowledge that there are good comics that are online for free.

Also, I'm curious: was 'fanties' an honest typo or some odd way of shortening 'fantasies'?

[identity profile] swaggerdoodle.livejournal.com 2011-11-25 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
From this (http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/) blog/webcomic.

[identity profile] checkerbloom.livejournal.com 2011-11-25 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I have no idea what this is but... did the author specify that Cinna was white? No? Well then.

Haters can suck it. Donna is awesome. Ten and Donna will forever be my Team TARDIS.

[identity profile] inboots.livejournal.com 2011-11-25 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
if it is, it's a good one. the block about character development and psychologically real problems sounds like a real vent.

(Anonymous) 2011-11-25 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Never again...? Are you seriously saying you don't think you'll ever break up? I think you might be expecting a bit too much. Don't put too much pressure on your first love, OP. o_0
