I haven't watched the show since the middle of season 2, but I know that before I just quit that I was frustrated with how Elena was being written. All of the things I loved about her in season 1 (all of the things I liked about the show in general in season 1) were being overshadowed by her romance with Stefan; she wasn't a great friend anymore, she wasn't there for the people she loved. Katherine messing with the Stefan/Elena relationship made the writers push her character into being only about that relationship, and as someone who enjoys her relationships with her friends and family over any guy, it was making me not enjoy her character anymore.

Same story here. Mom had one before having me and my brother and says there is nothing to regret; she made her choice and did what she thought was right.

Good luck OP! No matter how silly something might seem, if it gives you courage, go for it.

Yeah. Pretty much the only thing I don't like too much about Lyra is her outfit. It bugs me that so many people rag on her for being sweet. :/

bless both of you. Bastions of sanity in this secret.

I like new Lola. But I can see where people could dislike her.

What I can't see is how anybody could argue old Lola was interesting. I mean, she was clearly a movie character. No way that personality and character could actually be used regularly and sucessfully in an ongoing show.

I love Russian Holmes. It's flawless. Holmes is great, Watson is great, and their chemistry is great. And it's just a great adaption overall.

[identity profile] insanenoodlyguy.livejournal.com 2012-01-16 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
This is not the first time he's been the straight man. That happened often whenever he was co-billing, especially with Daffy.

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
I'm just going to love all of the versions of holmes and watson. That's one of the awesome things about a character that's been reinterpreted so many times over - there's always something different to see in each version.

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry, but I just have to...I don't even know. I mean, seriously? "OMG, I HURT SO BAD because you don't comment on my stuff!"?

Seriously? This is one of those times when I think I have to say your friend sounds rude, but you're being oversensitive.

At one point she runs off with Pepe.

[identity profile] hells-hikari.livejournal.com 2012-01-16 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
I liked both. Also, a bit OT, but I lost my Crystal version about... 8 years ago. I was SO SO sad. I had a shiny Butterfree (not-cheated, it just appeared before me during that bug-pokemon tournament), I had almost all Pokemon save for 3 (which I knew where to find in my silver version, I just had to catch them and trade them over)... and then I lost it.

And now, 8 years later... my grandmother found it in a drawer in her kitchen. And it's still my game that's there, the clock hasn't run out yet. I could cry tears of joy, I have it back I have it back I have it back.

Okay, back on topic, Crystal is my favourite game, so naturally, I had extremely high expectations when it came to Soulsilver. And they were met. It's not a flawless game, but I was happy enough. I especially liked that your first pokemon is following you. I thought it was a cute idea.

I was always terribly ashamed too. But I told my boyfriend. And I found something I knew he'd like (FMA) and showed it to him.

Now he can't get enough of anime and he's going through that SUGOI DESU phase we all went through as new fans.

It actually doesn't take much energy to hate people who think I shouldn't have the right to decide who uses my body. Wanting to take away my rights is a behavior that makes it easy to hate someone.

[identity profile] kribban.livejournal.com 2012-01-16 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
It's the personal medical decision to not volunteer your body to safe the life of your offspring. It is absolutely a medical decision since pregnancy always comes with a risk, but to imply that it's a medical decision akin to having your appendix removed is very callous. Abortion always mean that something, or someone, depending on your philosophy, dies.

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
I'm going to be the one to say it, but it's probably not the "it" everybody is expecting.

You're making a choice, and it's a valid choice, but it's not brave or amazing or special. If we want to end the potential life of a child we don't want, that's well within our right, but I don't think we need to be putting that action on a pedestal like some of y'all seem to be doing.

But best of luck to you, OP. I hope it all goes swimmingly.

I don't think that, say, talking about drug use is triggering for anyone

From what I've heard, it can be, because it can trigger a relapse in some people.

[identity profile] insanenoodlyguy.livejournal.com 2012-01-16 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
Eh, eventually he starts killing anybody who gets in his way as well.

Anybody. Including good noncorrupt cops, people who criticize him on the news, he fully realizes his god complex, which a lot of folks seem to forget.

[identity profile] weekendoffender.livejournal.com 2012-01-16 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
To some people it is akin to having my appendix removed. I certainly treated my abortion as such. You may not feel that way, but many women do so please do not talk like you know how everyone feels about the subject.

[identity profile] insanenoodlyguy.livejournal.com 2012-01-16 07:15 am (UTC)(link)
Good luck finding that universally accepted omnibus of moral facts. Rarely will people agree on just, and certainly not enough that any vigilante is ever going to be able to run around killing people based on their own judgement in any way close to a flawless methodology.

There are people who could ascribe to what you propose and will go out targeting drug dealers, and then the next guy believes he must kill the president.

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 07:15 am (UTC)(link)
Even though I can't thank you for wanting to make my body public property, I am glad you spoke up to defend self-harm trigger warnings. Mental health and self-harm are actual, serious issues that people close to me have struggled with, and they really don't need to be dismissed that way.

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think most people are really saying they're glad OP is getting an abortion because that's the best choice in general, they're just happy that she was able to reach the best choice for herself and that she's comfortable with it. The same thing happened a few weeks ago when someone posted a secret about being a teenage mother who was happy with her choice. A bunch of people told OP they were happy for her for doing what she felt was right even though others didn't agree with her choice. Same thing that's happening here. I'm pretty sure there was a secret a few months ago where someone mentioned giving up their child for adoption and the reactions were pretty much the same.

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
Interesting, I generally think of hatred as a very draining feeling that I can only feel for so long before I just want to let it go.

The thing that makes it seem particularly difficult to me would be the large amount of people that includes. Maybe where you live there aren't that many pro-lifers or something, but it's about fifty percent where I live. Do you, like, ask everyone you meet what their position on abortion is so you know whether you hate them or not? If not, what happens when you become friends with someone and then find out they're pro-life? Do you just break off that friendship and never talk to them again?

(Anonymous) 2012-01-16 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
Oh wow I'm so happy for you that you got your game back after all those years! That's awesome.

[identity profile] tigerdreams.livejournal.com 2012-01-16 07:27 am (UTC)(link)
Everything will be okay, OP. I'm glad you have the strength and courage to know what's best for yourself and to see it through, and I hope you have some IRL support to lean on if you need or want it. And I hope you live in an area where abortion access is inexpensive, legally uncomplicated, and free of protesters. *hugs if wanted*

It's not really the same thing, to me. With Daffy or Elmer, they were in a cohesive bond, which is really one-sided here. The funny here comes from Bugs not being over the top to Lola's crazy. With Daffy or Elmer, it came from both people being a little crazy, but with the recognition that Daffy or Elmer was the prat man. He's being Porky's kind of straight man here, which is weird, instead of Tweety's kinds of straight, if that makes any sense.

ETA: Basically a Bugs who isn't messing with people is weirdin' me out.

I think I revealed myself a little with all of that, but I guess I'm in good company.
