1. It is a bit upsetting when people ignore anything for an addiction, and online can definitely become a consuming addiction or escape. However, some of us just really aren't interested in the things that most of our RL friends want to do. When I'm on vacation, I like going out and sightseeing. While I'm here, I love having picnics and reading in the park and just taking walks. ERrrrr, my friends just want to get high, drunk, or meet up with boys that I don't care to interact with :O but maybe I just met the wrong crowd? In the end, I hardly have any time for RL friends or OL friends, and OL takes less energy, lol. I'd rather be alone in nature either way than spend time on the computer or with stoners ;B

It's not good to shut yourself off completely, though. At all.

oh and 18. I love avatar and kim possible but i hate those other two shows D: I guess it's just all about personal taste? I get deeper stories and that aren't afraid to portray icky icky gayz with manga and anime, while I get better humour with Kim Possible.

YES.

I get bitched at for calling him "Raito" because OMGWTFFANGIRLJAPANESE!!11 In reality I only call him that because "Light" is a really stupid name. All the non-Japanese names in that series are so incredibly stupid.

I just want to know, what kind mother would name their kid Light?

I guess one not in their right mind? =/

[identity profile] happy-cupcake.livejournal.com 2007-07-16 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
1. I've never understood why people wouldn't want to go out with their RL friends. Then again, I don't have many online friends so yeah.

21. LOL

22. Don't think it rules, it DOES rule! :D

2. That picture is adorable *_* As for the secret... I hear ya. Tho I think if I ever do go to a con, I'll just cosplay and not care.

[identity profile] nashidesei.livejournal.com 2007-07-16 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
...You do know Avatar was inspired by the works of Hayao Miyazaki, right? That's it's referred to as an "American Anime"? That its anime-esque elements are intentional and obvious?

Saying you like Avatar and then bashing anime is like saying you like Pixie Sticks and then complaining about people who like the taste and texture of sugar.

Just so you know, I'm an avid anime fan, but I also love me some Danny Phantom and Mulan remains one of my favorite Disney movies ever.

Generalizations suck.

[identity profile] medeaberry.livejournal.com 2007-07-17 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
iawtc.

I've met a few elitist anime fans who refuse to watch or draw anything else. In fact, I used to be one of them.. >_< I love anime, but I'm glad I opened up to the other things out there.

18. I like both.

[identity profile] aviy.livejournal.com 2007-07-16 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
3... me too. Also, that's the best picture for that ever \o/

18. I have to wonder about the quality of the anime you're not watching if you still think the old 'the art/style/drawing/struture/noses are identical' cliche applies. Maybe you should try manga.

19. I'm still vaguely surprised everytime I find a nice guy in the anime fandom who isn't freaked out and/or jaded by me being a slash fangirl.

21. Me either =\ I'll always call him Raito in my head.

22. ...........................i-i don't even know how I feel about that.

14. I don't get blog crews either, so you know what I do? Don't join them. :P I mean, you're the one on an ego trip if you somehow find silly banners in userinfos offensive.

16. HAHA. XD I remember those guys.

18. Honestly? I feel that hardcore American-animation fans are way more judgmental of hardcore anime fans than the other way around, and I personally feel nervous if I tell someone in RL I'm into anime for fear of being judged as overly wannabe-trendy, poser, etc. I mean, I have no beef with American shows/movies at all and love a bunch of them, but if you're praising one category as definitively "better" than the other, then you're no better than the close-minded anime fans you're critizing. :/

8. Everyone keeps falling in love with the people they rp with, wth.

14. The point of blogcrews is that they're pointless. They're harmless. I mean, it'd be nice if friending through a blogcrew actually happened, but trufax? it doesn't usually. It's just for fun, hell. Personally, I don't think I'm any of the characters I've claimed in blogcrews, I just claimed them because I happen to like them.

But lol if it's an egotrip anyway? I would not mind having a blood harem and sacrifices made to me, ala Azim from the VCs. >8D

22. I do too, aha. :x

14

[identity profile] 1849.livejournal.com 2007-07-16 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
14. What exactly is a blog crew? A lot of people on my f-list are in them/have created them. Do people in these blog crews do anything?

Re: 14

[identity profile] radarsparks.livejournal.com 2007-07-16 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope. You just pick a character you want to represent and put the code in your profile or an entry or whatever. ._.

[identity profile] swammi.livejournal.com 2007-07-16 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
7. I'm in the same boat. :'( I've even made journals for some characters I'd like to play in said unmade RP.

[identity profile] iverin.livejournal.com 2007-07-16 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
NS!2) OH MY GOD THERE'S A "LIFE" LIVE-ACTION???????? WHAT? When did this happen??? NEED MOAR INFO. I need to get more of the manga, it's so freaking horrible but I CANNOT STOP READING.

14) Oops. I love blog crews. They're totally an excuse for me to point out which random characters I like. XD And I actually made a LOT of friends through the blog crew I run, so :P

22) Amen.

3. I'm sorry, that makes me laugh so hard.

18. There are shows on both sides of the animation fence that suck balls. There are also shows that freakin' rule. What does and doesn't is a matter of opinion, but the people who refuse to watch Western animation simply because it was made by people who aren't Japanese are close minded fools. ;D

19. This also makes me laugh very hard.

7. Personally, making an RP with two of my friends is one of the funnest things I've ever done in fandom. We built something we all could agree on wanting, implemented it (Wiki for rules, data, character profiles + bboard for the game), and have been going ever since.

One of the things we did before we ever started, though, was one of us put a post on our LJ that outlined both the game-concept and what we thought the rules would be, and then invited our f-list to comment. We got a pretty good bit of feedback, since a) we were planning to initially recruit from my f-list, and b) most of the RPers on my f-list are talkative. That helped a lot.

We started with five players with one character each, including the three of us who built the place. We've grown to thirteen players and twenty-six characters. It's been about, oh, three months since we started the game.

I'm loving it, and actually buckling down and making the game has been a great experience.

2. I don't understand how people are bothered by fat cosplayers. Seriously, I see pictures of fat men in Sailor Moon costumes or something equally unappealing and I go "lol how cute" and go on my merry way while other people scream "DO NOT WANT" and apparently need to go to therapy. Weaklings.

I think you should at least do it once for the fun of it. You only live once, right? (btw, that picture you used is adorable, even though I get the message. :[)

14. I joined a KH blog crew once just so I could claim Demyx. Because... well, it's sort of obvious. I felt awesome for 5 minutes, and then I went back to my life. I don't see how most people get an ego trip off of it though, it just seems like an exclusive character claim thing or something.

21. I still also do not understand what the big deal is over the whole Light/Raito thing. Who gives a shit? The only thing good that ever came out of Death Note was swimming lessons anyway. >_>

[identity profile] ew-younerd.livejournal.com 2007-07-16 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree with you so much on 2, but then again I'm not really afraid of the human body at all :\ And don't want to scream whenever I see someone who doesn't look like a supermodel.

6. yes. D:

[identity profile] pretentioustfu.livejournal.com 2007-07-16 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
1: I totally believe everyone should have friends in both fandom and real life. That said, it can't happen all the time for some people, and also, fandom friends can definitely become real life friends.

2: Hmm, but what if you cosplayed a character who was overweight in canon? I'm wondering if I can get everything together to cosplay Hiro (from Heroes) or, if I can't pass as even a fictional male too well yet, Milly from Trigun. Both aren't exactly skinny.

13: I know what that's like.

14: Get over it. ^_^ I don't even have a blog crew, but if you're this annoyed over a userinfo graphic that really isn't that offensive, you kind of need to step back.

18: Generalizations suck. Everyone has a right to like what they want. I wouldn't go yelling American cartoons suck and so do their fans, since American cartoons and their fans don't bug me for existing, so can you show us the same courtesy? And dammit, I like serious plots and stuff that isn't kiddie appropriate on occasion. Which makes finding American animation I like pretty hard, because most of the mature-themed stuff is comedy. >_<

19: We're in your fandoms, being your dudes. ^_^

Yeah, idealistically, everyone would easily be able to make friends offline. That's why it makes me sad when people who have them ignore them. =(

18. I'm more a fan of animes, due to them being more readily available (fansubs), but I love me some American stuff too. Foster's? Love. Fairly Oddparents? Ecstatic about it. Lion King? ♥ I also pursue my anime fandoms more actively because I can more actively ship in those fandoms.

It's Seto no Hanayome. Pure, undiluted CRACK. As an example, the loli in the secret is a junior high student / wannabe police superintendant, while the guy is a shark (not metaphorically: he's a shark. And no, I am not making this up).
