4. I liked Phoenix Wright back in the days when it was Japanese version only, was called Gyakuten Saiban and I only had a grand total of one person to talk to about it. It made me feel so sparkly special.

Oh wait, I didn't like it like that!

[identity profile] rayiroth.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 12:41 pm (UTC)(link)
(Seriously though. I'd hate to get into "When I was blah blah blah" elite bastard talk, but the fact that people actually have someone to talk to about a game they love... Seriously, why would anyone want to take all that away?)

UGH. I am so happy I have never read fanfiction because I sure am sick of everyone comparing all the books to fanfics. This is why fanfiction kills. :(

Also, I love all the books, including DH. ♥

13. I can totally see it. ♥

It'd be adorable in a... well... FLCL kind of way. ♥ ♥ ♥

9 - I've always thought rap would be the type of thing to make him want to kill someone. Same with heavy metal. Panic at the disco is much more like him. :D

23 ~ Woah.... that's... kinda creepy! I never noticed how bloody tall Lantis was compared to Hikaru. XD;;; Well,. i am bias because I don't like Lantis/HIkaru together anyway T_T However.... I think your 'problem' isn't so bad. The reason it is bothering you is because you are thinking of each couple sexually XD; And you don't always have to that dude.

(Anonymous) 2007-07-26 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Hehe... yeah, I know. I can take a woman powerhouse, but when a man seemingly overpowers a woman sexually, it seems to squick me out. I know that height SHOULDN'T necessarily be correlated with strength/power, but subconsciously it does for me...

I think this might stem from some horrible yaoi fanfics I've read (I'm an equal opportunist when it comes to love... I'm a fan of shounen ai, shoujo ai, and het... as long as there's love, I could care less)... doesn't help that the some people like to use the height rule when determining seme/uke for their fics - and sadly, the uke's end up being portrayed as SUPPAH %UKE$$!!! (Y'know, extremely cute, defenseless, naive, innocent, weepy, whiny ukes?)

And then I come back to het fics, and suddenly that height difference becomes so much more obvious. Like I said, I can read the fics without much of a problem, I just can't really enjoy romantically-portrayed pics of the couple.

1. Dawwww! I play a cleric in Rappelz and I always kind of figured that's why people would run up and stand next to me. I don't usually buff unless they ask though. ;3

2. I've had that happen on several occassions (where the real life personality is a complete 180 from the online one). I don't usually see those people again, lol.

4. Yeah, us old timers get a little grumpy with our fandoms sometimes huh. But I'm always glad stuff gets popular cause then there is more creative talant pouring into the fanpot. :D

5. I agree with you, but it's one of those things where the few people who perpetuate the "weeaboo" stereotype ruin the reputations of all people who like anime, sadly.

10. What is an "RPF"?

12. I've never heard of that musical but I bet it would be a little awkward saying, "I LOVE URINETOWN!!!" out loud. XD

10. Real Person fic I think. So... Yeah, the secret maker ships two real people together :P

I think the problem is the "weeaboo" concept itself. Yes, there are some childish, unintelligent anime and manga fans. Yes, there are some wanna-be Japanese. However, by othering them as "weeaboo," we're both hating and insulting them AND giving up any chance we may have of helping them to overcome their ignorance and overenthusiastic views or to channel them into doing something positive with their lives by announcing that They Are Not Us and we therefore must avoid them to avoid being "contaminated."

7. Don't worry, Book 7 was awesome. :D

3. Pfft. Shikasaku = HOTTER.
7. Well, I somewhat understand, but I never thought she was that amazing to start with.

13. God, at least someone else pays any attention to Amaroa at all. He's one of the hottest anime characters out there, even with his little horn.

23. Seriously, it's not that hard to be polite or civil to someone. I think most of the time people want to look like internet toughguys. It's a lot easier to insult someone when you're not within hitting distance.

1.) Funny, I play MMOs alone to go into the arenas and kill asshats for laughs. :-)

6.) Match made in Hell, but ain't it fun?

10.) Whoops, indeed. Points for being different!

11.) (I'd comment, but I think Blood + isn't quite the same thing as the Blood: The Last Vampire movie or the Blood 2002 manga.)

13.) Another week, another weird "I Ship It!" secret. Do you ship the dude or just his forehead or his eyebrows?

14.) Forsooth, 'tis Earthbound (or Mother, if you prefer).

22.) Gatekeepers ... never really found its audience here in the States, I guess. I mean, I watched a large chunk of it, and I was very "Meh" about it. It didn't do anything for me, and there wasn't enough manga to leave a lasting impression on me, either.

24.) You also get points for being different. That's a unique squick. (Huzzah, CLAMP, for weird proportions.)

4) I like it... I'm not really 'new' or 'old'. I'm just in it. Same with everyone else. It's fandom. Enjoy it and stop taking it so seriously. I like the fact there's more people in it. I don't know where I'd be in my RP without a Maya to hang with my Ema. ♥ PS. APP GODOT.

[identity profile] maladaptive.livejournal.com 2007-07-26 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
24. Huh! Part of the appeal of Renji/Rukia for me is because of the height difference. But I'm 4'11 and I'm attracted to guys over 6 foot, so... er. XD

[identity profile] sakurabatou.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
25. There's nothing wrong with not liking smut. It's porn, after all, and not everyone goes for that. I'm a yaoi fan and I don't read smut, and people tease me about it, but in a friendly way. You shouldn't worry about people ostracizing you for it; everyone has their own preferences.

12. ♥! Urinetown is one of my favorite musicals.

21. I have no idea who that is, but he's very hot.

[identity profile] thano.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
5. Hmmm... personally, I'm Asian, and I never use the phrase (I've found that "whiteboy" suffices 8D). In fact, the only people I actually see use that phrase are white, or male, or those who hang out at /b/, or a combination of all three, which are very closely related to each other. In fact, the term comes from /b/, which is predominantly white and male. Take that as you will.

26. nodame. ♥~

EAAAAAAARTHBOUUUUUUUUUUND!

I dunno about them all dying at the end though. I'm a sap for happier endings though.

I'd also be worried about anyone making a movie about it because video game movies often end up sucking really badly.

10. Okay, old post is ooooold at this point but

I can't decode the codec so I don't know, but I must say you immediately put Hideo Kojima/Masahiro Sakurai into my head. Because I have heard that one reason Snake was in Brawl is because they seriously are BFFs.

THANKS A LOT
