THANK YOU.

12. IAWTC. Of course, I'm nowhere near straight, but God. She is sexy. Even her tranny voice. Her attitude cracks me up, and The Moth is so lucky D: She's so sexy, wtf.

1. I'm actually that way to, but to less of an extreme. I end up changing characters slightly when people tell me that. And it makes me pissed at them on occasion though not always.

12. I can't say I blame you. Its Dr. Girlfriend after all.

20. I am deeply intrigued.

[identity profile] atoli.livejournal.com 2007-07-31 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
13. Yes pleeeease. I want to play with one as well. I would hand over my eternal love if I could.

1.) I have a friend who has that problem, and I always tell her that every idea has been used at least once. I guarantee if you give them enough story and personality, it doesn't matter who they look like at first glance. People will get past it for the real story. If you change them a lot, it's hard for people to get attached to a consistent image.

10.) I've seen a lot of RP secrets on here, and I keep wondering what RPs people are talking about when they don't mention the name of the RP, unlike with this one. (I remember someone mentioning to me a "whore" RP and I had to go detectivating to figure out which one they were talking about). Mind linking me to some of the panfandom ones you know have been mentioned? (Can do it anonymously)

20.) I'm wondering how you even managed to do this. Your imagination must be mighty one with a giant wang.

22.) Are you pretending to be nice in real life and actually are a pretentious asshole on the inside? Or are you pretending to be a jerk. Sort of makes you wonder which role you're actually playing. I guess it comes down to whether or not you actually feel bad for it.

Your response makes me laugh. Sorry if you were trying to cause great introspection or anything. Didn't work! ^.^

I'm actually a very, very nice person. I just have latent sadistic tendencies, and I love pretending to be someone I'm not occasionally. It's just like RP and cosplay for me. Honestly, I never say anything that anyone else wouldn't say. They are never baseless "attacks". They're just things other people are too shy to say. None of the trolly stuff has been me. Just the bluntness. In person, I'm far too shy to say witty or cutting things.

I empathize with you. I had a similar situation, where the person desperately wanted me to go with them on everything even if I was low on sleep. I thought I was being a good friend, and I was even offended when people told me this friend was greedy and self-centered. But one day the person found a "better" friend, and told me off for not being good enough, even though I sacraficed whatever I was capable to even. I even broke up with my boyfriend for insulting them. If I were you, I'd gradually weed this person out of my life altogether, or keep it sparse. It sounds like the sort of relationship that would eventually wear you down and take it's toll.

Don't worry; I talk to her occasionally on AIM (where she just keeps talking about her own fandom, of course) but it's not more than very loose back-and-forth, and not even once a week. I won't see her again until January, and even then it'll be just running across her for a few minutes because we'll be at the same place. I don't consider her a part of my life anymore.
I'm really sorry that happened to you; that is HARSH. Better luck in the future.

Tenchi Muyo, Ranma 1/2, Saber Marionette J! I have to admit that I love a bunc of the older harem shows. :( There's a lot of comedy to found within em and Augh. TENCHI MUYO. asdjasd Classic love. -happy-

Re: 15

[identity profile] samuraiter.livejournal.com 2007-08-01 11:18 am (UTC)(link)
Can you believe that the original Tenchi Muyo is over ten years gone? ^_^; Yikes, we're getting old.

4. Me too, strangely. But it had absolutely nothing to do with the book and EVERYTHING to do with me ranting about the book on my LJ, to which a friend replied "Ohay I know the fandom's scary but try reading [livejournal.com profile] shoebox_project you might like it," and now I am completely incurable.

I still don't even like the books so much, but dabbling in the areas of fandom that aren't completely terrifying is really not so bad.

[identity profile] fairyfey.livejournal.com 2007-08-01 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes. I actually like SBP a lot more than the actual books.

4. Well, while it certainly was fun [like when the seven book was about to be launched, I'd never had so much fun with another fandom ever], there were times when the wank just made you want to run out of fandom. After OoTP I had to take a time out because I felt the wank was ruining the books for me.

11. It is creepy.

20. Now you got me interested.

11. That stuff always creeped me out. What's worse is how some people treat it like real art ... it's not. It's photomanipulation and often poorly done photomanipulation at that.

[identity profile] ladyelleth.livejournal.com 2007-08-01 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
I agree that RPS is creepy, but why not leave people their creativity? I'd like to know how photomanipulation isn't art...

1. Have more confidence! I think pretty much anyone who takes pride in their OCs will feel a twinge of pain at the idea of them being like someone else's character, but keep in mind whoever witnesses your character only knows as much as what you show them. Ask yourself: are they REALLY like that character? Did you, infact, make a mimicry of someone else's work? Which is also nothing to be ashamed of, but it might mean you're not letting the character be who they are. WHICH might sound a little crazy, I don't know. But to me it's not possible to go and 'change' characters, once you've really found the character. They are who they are. Certainly, you can write them different, but it's... a lie then, right? Instead of trying to change them, why not find out more about them? Any character, from any movie, novel, anime, manga or even real life, looks like someone else from a far enough distance. There's no shame in that, it's just impossible to avoid. But as you zoom in on them; their mannerisms, their look, their opinions, their mentality, preferences, outlook on life, past, present, future should make them different, make them who they are. Have confidence in that, love that and you'll never have a reason to 'change' anyone again.

Characters are like people in a way, it's easy to relate one person to another, but that doesn't mean they're really anything alike, and there's no reason for them to change their clothing on their walk to make that more apparent, because in the end they're just making themselves look more like a completely different person.

9. o/

11. ....that does look creepy. However, 'just draw' isn't an option for some people, and photoshop is! And the actors are visual representations of the characters. Additionally some people probably find real people more appealing than drawn ones. So...

13. RP somewhere else instead =\

15. I enjoyed ranma 1/2 and for some reason never mentally classified it as a harem anime even tho it clearly is. Also, that whole paragraph about the horrible misrepresentation of women makes me wonder if get get all self righteously pissy over things like Fushigi Yuugi or. Hell. Any anime ever where men are emasculated or made nothing but mindless sex fiends.

18. o/

20. ....who were the characters?

22. I'm not sure a genuinely kind person would enjoy treating others badly under an anonymous guise. Maybe you're just a regular semi-sadistic person who can't be a pretentious asshole to people's faces? There is a quote I saw the other day that went something like "You character is what you are when no one else is looking".

11. .... yes, so much yes. This is partly why I can't slash characters in shows that have real people playing them. O_O
