Now if you were like me and didn't like Erica and Lydia while loving all the Argent ladies...that's less common. It's so uncommon I haven't found anyone to share that opinion with.

Who isn't? Yes, you have the Sterek fans but I am interested because of his background. I want to know what happened to his mom and I think he is fantastic as a cop's kid. He's a natural detective. Plus, the dynamic of Stiles with his father is so interesting, it could probably be its own spin-off. (You know you want to see the Stalinskis fight crime together both natural and supernatural.)

That's fairly common in most corners of the fandom, I think. Scott is pretty okay, but Stiles is the heart of the show.

to be fair, this is a pretty common sentiment in a LOT of fandoms, not just this one. When the main character is supposed to be the entry point for the viewer, s/he can end up being a lot blander than the characters that surround him/her. Side characters have more freedom to be silly, crazy, unethical... whatever... and without the added stress of a lot of exposition to explain *why* because they aren't the main character.

I'm not saying it should be that way, just that it often is.

Welcome to the majority of fandom.

But yeah, Stiles is animated, energetic, bold, brave, political, curious enough to get into trouble but sensible enough to get himself out again. He's constantly concerned about other people. Scott has a cute face and personality and has an awesome body, but doesn't really seem to be interested in anything beyond himself and his girlfriend. He has to be shoved into the plot by other people, otherwise he'd spend the day lazing about doing nothing much.

Well, comparing him to Scott I do like Stiles more.

I don't care for Derek or Allison.

I WANT to like Lydia, but I don't like where the story is going with her. (Her and Jackson really make me sadface. Neither of them ever seem happy together)

I did like Kate before she went too crazy, then she got a bit too creepy for me.

I am really curious about Scott's mum. Like, I really hope she gets something good going on in her life.

I'm equally curious about Stile's dad...and the vet.

and I really hope the show doesn't pair the two single parents as a simple solution...although I do like both of them so if they did it carefully and slowly I could get behind it.

But, yeah. I do find Stiles more interesting than Scott because Scott is incredibly annoying with his "omg true love I can't let her go even if it means danger to everyone else" and lack of thinking things through.

Before I started watching Teen Wolf, I assumed based on the tumblr posts I saw from my friends that he was the main character of the show, lol.

A large majority of the fandom feels the same way, anon, but to me, it's the whole cast that makes the show, I like them all. Plus I just can't stop adoring Scott's "clueless as a newborn puppy" demeanor.

I like Scott just fine, but definitely prefer Stiles. He's one of my favorite characters, if not most favorite. But, tbh, the stanning for him, how others (especially Scott) are demonized to woobify him, how there are countless fics where at least three people are in love/lust with him at once because he's just ~so perfect (YMMV, because to me, he's cute enough, but I like him based on personality more than his looks), put me the fuck off.
