Sometimes a fandom looks different from the outside than the inside?

Like from the outside it's all "what's their deal? why do they keep doing that"

And then once you join it's totally worth it and you're right there making a fool of yourself with them because it's fun. Do I think Sterek's a little overblown? Yeah, but I can enjoy it and avoid it when I want.

Honestly, I thought it was going to be bad. I got the impression that this show would be the spawn of Dawson's Creek and Supernatural after they had crazy mad drunk sex one Friday night under the full moon.

Then Sterek happened. And I was like "Fandom, stop trying to make Sterek happen. It's not going to happen." Then the whole Slash Tourney on AfterElton happened and some of the actors from the show were even like "FFff! OMG vote for our couple!" and it was hilarious and then I decided "fine, I watch your damn show!"

Surprisingly, I actually liked it. It might be because of the actors and the characters they play. It might be because I am suckered into the idea of Sterek and I'm having to see for myself whether or not people's slash goggles are strapped on too tight. Or it's probably just the kind of silly fun that I found myself enjoying because I haven't had anything like that in a while and Teen Wolf just has it.

I disagree with what some of the actors have said though- that it's "a show that appeals to everybody." It really doesn't. For starter's there's this whole theme of teenage drama in that was originally meant to appeal for high school kids that I'm pretty sure a lot of people above twenty-four or twenty-five would roll their eyes at.

So really, I do get why you wouldn't want to get into the series if the premise really doesn't appeal to you. I mean, it's exactly what it says in the title. It's about a Teen Wolf. Just don't be a jerk to people who do like the show. It's not that hard.

EDIT; ...Yeah, it doesn't help that I find the actors all kinds of adorable.

I don't hate the fandom by itself, but as a multishipper am annoyed with the One Ship To Rule Them All fandoms. Especially since they keep claiming to ship everyone. There's nothing wrong for a pairing to dominate the fandom; just be honest.

Also, I think Teen Wolf is a freakin' huge fandom which has had very little wank yet. It's because it's pretty new. Sooner or later, I bet something will happen which will implode the fandom. Anti-Sterek getting big, or a new character threatening Sterek (okay I'm thinking Supernatural here), and the fandom will go crazy. After that, though, it'll probably simmer down and become more or less normal and happy.

No, I despise Homestuck. Because people. will not. STFU. about it. There must be some sort of word or phrase to describe feeling overloaded with seeing it everywhere, but my head hurts too much to think of it right now. Suffice to say, you can actually drive someone away from something by blaring incessantly about it.

I watched the show and was underwhelmed. NGL, it feels like I can't say that un-anon though, without being crucified by their rabid fans either here or other online places

so I understand the reluctance to watch it because of the fans

Was going to agree with you, OP, until you said you've never seen a single episode. The show itself is awesome, but the fandom is nuts over Stiles and Derek and ignoring Scott, the actual main character. The fandom is insane but don't let that that detract from the show. Just find the saner corner of the fandom.
