27. Doesn't everyone want Ouran love?

24

[identity profile] luna-kitsu-blu.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
you are SO not alone.

I watched 23 just the other day and have fallen head over heels for him in it (Really, I think his comedy stuff is so over the top, it loses its funny anyways), and I know lots of people 'apparently' don't like that movie (WHY?! It was GORGEOUS. HE WAS GORGEOUS) but I thought he was absolutely amazing and I want to find his other serious films just to compare.

It's not often that I see a movie I want to watch over and over and over again. 23 was that awesome of a movie.

He doesn't get the respect he deserves as an actor because of his sense of humor, but you're not alone. I actually think most comedy-driven actors do their best in serious parts (like, say, Robin Williams)

Watch Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind if you want more serious films of his.

Do it. Now.

05. For what it's worth, my childhood crush on Leo is still alive and well!

17. Because you hated or loved it? If it's the first, you really should still give the game a try -- it's nothing like the movie! And, yeah, the same does apply for the latter too, I guess... just, y'know, reversed. Wow, did that even make sense? -_-;

23. I think we all do :\

2. Dude, bring the fluff. :) I'd rather read fluff than angst any day. Fluffy!sex is even better, but I'll just take G-rated fluff too. ♥

3. I cried. I have no shame in admitting it.

4. jkasgfka ENOUGH CASE SECRETS *dies* He's not your fandom, goddamit!

9. There's a lot of more "normal" anime/game clothing that I would gladly wear. Just the more normal stuff, though. ^^' Capes went out back in the 1600's.

11. You know CASE lolol~ But yeah, so would I. *dies* Hakuryuu is a hot little dragon. I saw a human!Hakuryuu pic once and it was the most adorable thing ever.

18. I KNOW. It's like in Gurren Lagann. I felt so terrible for poor Yoko. Because you KNOW that's what Kamina meant and then she never got it, poor dear.

20. I'm terrified that will happen to me. I want so bad to accomplish my goals but realistically, there's a 75% or so chance that I'll fail. :(

26. I wish I was a BNF sometimes. Then I realize that people think you're a bitch, arrogant, elitest, etc. if you're a BNF.

24. He's fantastic in serious roles, even if the movie sucks he plays a part brilliantly, I've watched The Truman Show more times than any of his comedies, I mean he's really funny, but there is a sort of pain that seems to be buried deep inside of him that he allows us to see whenever he plays a serious role, it's touching.

[identity profile] crackjaw.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I read somewhere that he didn't exactly have a very easy childhood, so maybe that's where that's coming from.

2. Fluff can be really wonderful as long as it's believable.

3. Oh god, I remember crying my eyes out at that part ;_;

5. Oh lawd, is dat sum original Ninja Turtles I see? :'D

8. Every main character in that game is too darn sexy for their own good. Never before have I played a game that's made me gay, straight and pedophillic all at once.

24. IAWTC. It's a definite change for him, but he's very good at playing serious roles when he tries. And I just loved him in 'The Truman Show' and 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind'~

I wish I wasn't alone in my local area, too. I work at a video store, and no one likes his serious roles, I swear.

We have a 'Rent these' promotion at work, where we put his older movies with The Number 23 to get people to rent them, too - and I said that if anyone picks up The Truman Show to rent, I'll give it to them for free, because that's how unlikely I see that being.

Eternal Sunshine is a great movie, though isn't it? <3

2. I don't like fics too far on either side of the spectrum. Pure fluff, and pure angst usually is boring. The pure fluff is cute, but I get a toothache, and pure angst usually makes me hate everyone involved. I think the best fics are where they work in tandem. A fic can be both fluffy and angsty, and the fluff makes the angst just so much more tragic and heartbreaking, and the angst makes the fluff just so much more meaningful. But I don't read drabbles or plotless fic a lot. But that is just my take, you shouldn't be ashamed of what you post.

24. I love him for his serious roles too. 'Spotless Mind' is one of my all time favorite movies, and while some of the other movies I didn't like as a whole, I did enjoy his roles in them.

[identity profile] revulo.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
11. HAKKAI IS BEING INAPPROPRIATE WITH HAKURYU. (Oh god, why is this pic so hot? *loves*)
21. YES. I hated it when that happened. This show gave me freakin' anxiety attacks when I was a kid. Man, I wish I knew when this came on.
27. Everybody does. I know I do.

Not the OP, but it's the dragon -- the secret mentions it by name, so.

1: You don't the character, you love fandom's interpretation of the character. As for what's wrong with it? Well, on one hand, nothing. Love what you love and be happy.

On the other? Fans like you are the reason writers are encouraged to ignore canon in favor of fanon. Eventually, this leads to either characterization typified by "in character" meaning "spouts catchphrases", or one trait taken to such extremes the character is a one dimensional shadow of his/her former self. Often these are combined to deadly and awful effect. (I offer Emo!Suicidal!"..."!Cloud and SugarBuzz!Hyper! Can Only Say "Hoi" or "Nya"!Eiiji as proof.)

14: If you want to save your friendship, you need to tell your secret to this person. Seriously. If s/he still won't give back in equal measure then it's time to cut him/her off.

17: To me, AC was like a love letter to the fans. The new canon, the little touches (the victory fanfare on Loz's cell phone!), the music, it was all good. So, why the hate, OP?

Re: 1, 14, 17

[identity profile] panksters.livejournal.com 2007-09-04 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
17) It was a love letter full of Tetsuya and suck. The "new canon" made Cloud into the huge cliche he so cleverly fell short of in the game, and like... idk, I just really didn't give a shit about the remnants or anything they did.

Also, the outfits were pretty gay.

1. I see your point, but it's worth going to the source. I had a friend the watched the first half of Chasing Amy, then just read the script for the last half. I slapped my forehead for a YEAR over that shit.

And since when does fandom have a heirarchy? Since always.
