Re: Platonic male/female friendships you love

Harry/Hermione

Their friendship makes me specifically look out for platonic male/female frienships in books. When I write original fic, I like putting in platonic male/female friendships too.

I also love Carrie/Stanley from Sex and City. It's a little like my relationship with my best friend except he's not as stereotypically gay as Stanley and I'm not as man/boyfriend obsessed as Carrie.

Repulsive? Really? Wow. So we can't call ugly people ugly, but if we subjectivelly don't find someone attractive we can call them repulsive?

John/Karkat. I used to ship them so hard until one day I just had this epiphany that they just don't really have much chemistry together. It just doesn't click for me at all anymore. Odd, considering I ship Karkat with basically everyone else in the cast. Okay not literally but close

I'm so sorry anon! I once worked for a company that answered calls for people inquiring about making appointments for apartment complexes, and a man called in to confirm a schedule and that's all he needed to do. I was stuck listening to him bitch about his current neighborhood being filled with terrible teenagers for like an hour.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-01 07:45 am (UTC)(link)
I was talking to my best friend about this earlier tonight. We're not sure if another of our friend is aware that she comes off as no longer wanting to be friends with us since she never calls us or texts us. She also doesn't answer our texts very much. Maybe she is unaware and is just busy or doesn't think she needs to be in contact with us as much, but whatever the reason, we decided we should talk to her about it.

Re: Makeup

(Anonymous) 2013-03-01 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
Late but I love makeup! I agree about makeup giving me more confidence. Just a little bit of lipstick instantly boosts my spirits, especially on days I feel like crap and need to run out quickly to do a couple errands.

What's more, they ripped it off from a Sci-fi Channel movie a couple of years ago.

I understand, anon. I don't know about 5Dolls but the shit T-Ara got, and still gets a little, for something that wasn't even real is ridiculous.

Yeah people totally stop having kids during wars, amirite?

I love your icon.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-01 08:09 am (UTC)(link)
There was a strong rumor when Hwayoung (one of the newer members to the group) was being bullied by the other members in the group when she left/was let go from the company. It turned out to be fake completely and she left because she wasn't doing her job because she didn't want to be there due to casting shenanigans.

It seriously damaged T-Ara's reputation.

Does Cullen act differently if you play as a human v elf mage? I've only played as an elf and he still got a big crush on me. Then again the fandom in general seems to like human characters a lot more than I do (3 playthroughs... 3 elves...)

Nope.

And pagan fem!Loki? Totally onboard with that.

Icon entirely unrelated except for tragic underuse as of late.

I WOULD LISTEN. WOTAN IS A TOTAL DICK. TO EVERYONE.

Which does not stop me from listening to his music over and over because yessss.

Definitely agree with you about it not existing on an institutional level, but existing on an individual level. But I'm not sure I agree that that's always what people mean when they say misandry doesn't exist. I've seen people say misandry doesn't exist even in contexts that are clearly talking about individual people's feelings about men, and where it isn't being compared to misogyny.

It's definitely one of my favourite icons XD

And yeah :( I think RTD was going for some big tragedy, but it honestly just made you feel like... "They're ending it like THAT? D8" I think that's honestly the point where I stopped liking RTD's work quite so much...

Unusual and desperate relationships and the wish to have comfort and a family and not be alone in the face of war, utter uncertainty and fear... It's almost unthinkable...

I watched Landspeed after a few drinks the other night & cried my eyes out over all the footage of teen Ryan. I can't even bring myself to watch Haggard =(

I haven't seen any of the movies past GoF, but from my experiences in the book fandom, I don't think this is an uncommon opinion. Actually, while I'm sure there are Lupin/Tonks fans, I don't think I know any.

To be fair, a lot of the annoyance I saw was from gay and lesbian fans who liked the idea of one or both of the characters as possibly being gay. And I liked the idea of Tonks being a lesbian, myself, even though I didn't see it supported much in canon. But while I would have been open to the idea of Lupin/Tonks in general, the way the romance was handled in the books did feel like it really came out of nowhere, and in a way that stripped Tonks of the fun personality that made her interesting.

Again, haven't seen the last few movies, but I'd be surprised if the relationship was more developed than in the books.

Nah. Maybe it's just me, but usually when I think of what is 'anon' I think of mainly euro-centric people. Dunno why.

That, coupled with my ability to think that most anons are the same may cause me to say or do things I should rather not say or do.

Oh boo-frackin-hoo, you don't like a popular slash ship.

Re: inb4 "DIE SCUM DIE"

(Anonymous) 2013-03-01 08:54 am (UTC)(link)
The thing is, when you say "misandry," you're comparing that treatment to misogyny. Even if you don't outright say it.

"Misandry," as a word, was created by anti-feminists/misogynists as a direct counter - its intent is to compare the treatment of men to the treatment of women in an attempt to "cancel out" misogyny and act like it doesn't matter because but what about the men.

When you use the word "misandry," you are comparing the treatment of men or a man to misogyny. And you're also being a misogynist and an asshole!

P.S. Misandry DOES NOT EXIST ON ANY LEVEL
not even on the "individual level"!

Same. Now I view them as best friends and nothing more.
