WE PRETTY MUCH HAVE THE SAME FUCKING AMOUNT OF ACTIVITY AS WE DID IN THE COUPLE OF MONTHS BEFORE WE MOVED FROM LJ.

IN MAY OF 2012 WE CONSISTENTLY HAD 17-20 SECRETS (and there were some points in the preceding months that we had even less) AND USUALLY HAD BELOW AROUND OR BELOW 1000 COMMENTS. IN SOME RESPECTS, WE ARE MORE SUCCESSFUL ON DW, SHUT THE FUCKING FUCK UP

I agree. People need to stop whining. This comm is decently active, and, imo, has more of a "community atmosphere" than it used too. Maybe it's a a bit quieter because people are busy with school, but not by much.

DW is the best thing ever, we should never have been on lj to start with. All the special feels the peeps have is so cools on DW and the best of the best is here and totes nice. Agreed. F!S isn't dying because it's on DW, it's dying because fandom in general seems to be slowing everywhere, especially since most of it has migrated to Tumblr. Plenty of LJ groups that I'm in, which used to get thousands of posts, have only a fraction of that these days.

I like the current amount of activity. I hated how many secrets there were back on LJ -- couldn't get into good discussions of all the secrets I wanted to discuss when there was like 40 per day, and there were so many trolls and haters in the comments. It was ugly and gross. DW is the best thing to have ever happened to FS.

I feel the same. It was way too busy for me and most of the time I didn't even bother commenting. I like the size and activity levels these days. Admittedly we do have lulls now and then, but generally it's fine.

Stop whining about the move to DW already, people. It happened, get over it.

Also, the idea that quantity of comments is the sole measure of the health of a community is really not a good one, especially when it manifests as an active desire for vicious wank and flamewars. The relative paucity of bitter, vindictive arguments is not a bad thing as far as I'm concerned. And increasing the # of comments by provoking idiotic flame wars is not something that increases the health of a community. That point of view, frankly, makes no sense to me.

I never used to hang out in GC when it was on lj- I feel like I know everyone who's here so much better now.

Although I really wished they had moved on secret post #2000. I'm pretty sure it switched on an odd number, and I DID NOT LIKE THAT. They should have waited and moved on the milestone (and even) number. IDK if anyone else noticed but it still irks me just a tiny bit in the back of my mind when I think of f!s now.

LJ is dead. Get over it. The few places that aren't dead are dying. LJ isn't exactly helping themselves with their changes. At least here on DW people can actually USE the service. And being on DW means including people from places that can't use LJ because it is Russian owned. That will probably affect the Americans a lot more in the future too, since they're on the precipice of another Cold War with the Russians.

I'd like DW more is if had the little "new comment" messages lj did. And the pre-collapsed threads. I'm hoping they get adopted here at the next upgrade.

Here's what I want to know from you and your ilk:

Who is actually on LJ these days?

Seriously. All the comms I used to watch have died. Some have migrated to DW, but most of them have either shriveled up or been unceremoniously deleted. Fandom is not there anymore. It's moved on to other platforms.

Truth is, you're not actually lamenting the move of F!S. You're lamenting the fact that the nature of fandom has changed. For whatever reason, you can't accept that LJ is now something totally different than it once was (e.g. it's now mainly a meeting place for Russian bloggers and activists). But it is, and nothing you can say or do will change that.

IDK, I think somewhere between 17-23 secrets is perfect. It's not enough that you find yourself having difficulty commenting on every secret (if you so desire), but it's enough to have some variety in fandoms/secrets.

Plus, as others have said, the general comments are awesome. Yea we have our slow days, but people have a lot of fun and thoughtful discussions here and there is a somewhat close-knit feel to the comm. I like it.
