12. Another one chiming in to say I know what you mean. I don't mind some romance, as long as it's handled maturely, but as the focus of a story it bores me to tears. Naturally, I don't go making an effort to find romance in character dynamics either (although my crack-pairing-dar has gotten pretty finely tuned...). I can think of maybe two pairings that have really caught me enough to ship, ever. I just can't relate at all to the fixation on pairings which characterizes so much of fandom, which is one part of why I'm not very into it.

Similarly, I don't think most fen actually have trouble seeing any platonic relationship as such; I assume they just prefer exploring the romantic/sexual version. Although the crazies do exist, and they're creepy. But sometimes it seems like everywhere you look there's another pairing, and it kind of adds up into the attitude that no character dynamic is ever enough without mad lust.

Course, there's always things like this post & comments around to remind us that the love for gen is out there...

Also, 19: Lucky! My brother wouldn't go for it.

11/12) THANK YOU. I wish there wasn't this obsession with pairing up friends. Platonic relationships are just as fulfilling as romantic ones. And I wish I could come up with more explicative reasons why you rock for these secrets that haven't already been said.

I accepted the fact I always like the villians a long time ago. Hell, when you're a 5 year old girl watching Star Wars for the first time and your favorite character is Darth Vader, there's not much to be done about it. :D I have no regrets about it. In my opinion, with very few exceptions, villians are always the more interesting characters and it pisses me off that they always wind up being killed off stupidly, or (worse yet) turn good.

I know what you mean about the fics though. Some fandoms have a good amount of awesome fics about the villians, but some are pathetically lacking.

11/12. I think Maya and Phoenix are great best friends who've been through a lot together and trusted each other, so I agree. But I don't get how people can say that about Maya and Phoenix then say that Edgeworth and Phoenix can't be friends; they must be gay for each other lolwat. Friendship is just as important as romantic ones; why would you take that away? I'd honestly think that I'm not even allowed to think Edgeworth and Phoenix are good friends with all the buttsex dominating the fandom.

My perspective on Maya and Phoenix's relationship is different from my perspective on Phoenix and Edgeworth's... because those two relationships are different. Phoenix and Edgeworth interact in a completely different way from Phoenix and Maya, they have a different history, there are different nuances to the way both pairs of characters regard each other.

Given that, you're of course perfectly free to think of Phoenix and Edgeworth as good friends, too, if that's what you prefer.

To a degree I can understand that, but for me, Phoenix and Maya's response (or lack thereof) to Pearl's badgering--particularly in the third game--demonstrated to me further that it just wasn't about romance. I thought it was a clever device, actually, to further reinforce that their bond was about family.
