1. I know, I can't find good fanfic about villains ever, because most people like to make them, well, less villainous. But if I ever get around to writing my Jafar fanfic, that's the last thing I'm gonna do.

13. Carmen Sandiego=awesometastic. Enough said.

[identity profile] luisa-f.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
10. It's okay, I mean I have friends who are H/Hr shippers, and they're nice people, but please, whoever says they'd never judged a person by their ship preferences is lying, we've all done that at one point or another.

To me it's the H/G shippers, whenever someone I know tells me they ship that I have to resist the urge to run and never speak to them again.

24. Me either, I prefer slow burn fics, of fic with UST, but not fics that have the ship already resolved.

26. I don't know, looks boring.

9 I like him, but I also like the show. The world appeals to me so much, as does the storytelling. Nothing endears me to a work of fiction more than characters who withhold information or lie. *_* But I still love me some hot Hei fanart too. I think there's no reason I can't love an incredible artistic and well-written show for it's good parts, and still love it for the shallow reasons too. xD

11x12 It's like a secret OTP. Can I ship you two together? ...or, I mean, you two can just be friends if you'd like it that way. xD

35. I want those books SO MUCH NOW. CURSE YOU. The Forbidden Game was the HOTTEST THING EVER and got me hooked on relationships like that. It changed the things I ship to this day. I don't have any of her books anymore, but if I ran into them ever again I'd buy a million. o_o I don't care how old I am, that shit was amazing.

9 -- I halfway agree with you. The Darker than Black fandom is one of the nicest I've ever been in, and one of the smartest, too. I love Nishijima so hardcore, and even more so because MikiShin voices him. D8 And November? Dude. That just killed me. I think I died right there with him.

But I love Hei, too. D: I think it's a little touching how desperate he is to find Pai. Touching, bordering on creepy. It makes me so happy.

Gods, I love that show. D8

12 -- That comic makes me laugh. What the hell. XD

OP of 9 here

(Anonymous) 2007-09-21 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I know, everyone in the fandom is so nice and well-spoken. I must admit that as the story is coming to an end, I've grown to appreciate Hei and his...multi-facetedness a lot more. :D

And someone finally knows Nishijima "exposition man" by name? Hehe.

[identity profile] lalita-b.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
22. Lol, Sakura rules and Karin sucks :P If you were my friend, I wouldn't care you like her *hugs*

24. Word. I mean, I can't get in any fandom without being totally involved in shipping (except Ouran, I guess) but when I read romance fanfic, I tend to drop it after several chapters, when the characters become OoC. I mean, I've read some really good fics but sadly they're minority :(

I don't think pairings are a factor in porn. Maybe they are for some people, but regardless of pairing popularity, people like porn! So go for it. ;)

3. I am a hardcore fan and writer of smut using unpopular and unconventional characters/parings. Maybe the people in your immediate circle won't care for your fic, but there's a market out there for it, whatever it is - I'm here to tell you. If this comm has taught me anything, it's that. I would write it anyway - if for no other reason that you can do no less than ship the parings you love.

18. Really, sometimes you just have to write it yourself. Who knows, you might just bring out some of the same character-lovers out of the wood work with you.

30. Aww! <3

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)

1. I understand exactly how you feel.

6. I can't reread any sex scenes I've written in fic or in RP. They make me laugh.

8. There's nothing I hate more than people doing that. Or how they name all their friends after characters and seriously refer to them as that. Sure I've made jokes in the past that my friends and I were like certain characters, but the ones who take it to that extreme that you don't even know what their real names are ... creepy shit.

32. I enjoy yaoi, but I can't stand hearing about it all the time either. There is more to life that two men getting it on.

[identity profile] missmorrichan.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
13. That is so cool. :D Many points to you, secret poster! Carmen Sandiego is awesome!

16. I know exactly what you mean! In my case, it's not with Utena, but with other shows like Bleach/Full Metal Alchemist/Other Stuff I Forgot. All the fangirling and obsessing ruins most of the magic a series could hold for me before I've even seen it.

Utena is a good show, from the little I've seen, so I hope your friends will lay off and in a while you'll be able to enjoy it.

1. I gravitate towards the golden-eyed psychos (: I'd say there's nothing wrong with it.

3. Dude, when my friends write smut, even if it's not a series I'm into, I read it. Try it. ♥ You might be surprised, and you might even get people into the series.

8. Oh god or like in chats when people just start like SERIOUSLY roleplaying (Not like little short scenes that are cute and everyone can lol over -- like long involved stuff)? SO RUDE.

18. ajgfak I want to know the character. I'm in the same boat *dies*

20. EBA SECRET, WOOT. And, adorable ship is adorable. ♥

3. Believe me someone will like the fic. Every pairing has a fan somewhere. ^^

9. I cried to. D: But hey, at least we got some fanservice before he got killed. XD

[identity profile] daphhime.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
3. Totally know the feeling. Though in my case it's not that it's not a popular pairing (in fact it's the most popular) it's just that the fandom is too small and scattered (and kinda has a huge age gap) to really care. :/

21. He's preforming at my college next week and the tickets sold out the instant they were avalible. T___T

32. Here here. I like yaoi as much as the next fangirl, but for the love of whatever tone it down, please! Don't get me started on the het pairing bashing.

[identity profile] sky-pirate-tat.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
You would be surprised. Just because it's not a popular pairing doesn't mean someone won't enjoy it. :3

[identity profile] queenie-z.livejournal.com 2007-09-20 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
3. I wrote porn and only like 4 or 5 people ended up reading it. But I still like it. :3

39. I think part of the reason why so much of fandom gets so up in arms is because they're insecure. People who are insecure IRL for one reason or another flock to the internet and start getting defensive (or offensive) when someone doesn't like what they like, because they're afraid of being disliked/looked down upon for liking said thing. Then again, I just base this on personal experience, so I could be completely wrong.

[identity profile] kyrakitty.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
In regards to 39, I think you're sort of right. the problem here is that you're implying that a certain type of person tends to be drawn to fandom, so to speak. And that might upset people, though I don't disagree.

I'm into some nerdy shit (including cosplay), and I'm big into fandom. But I'm, personally, willing to take the slings and arrows from people completely unfamiliar with the subculture in stride. Though I don't think that means I'm an entirely secure person (though I try).

I think I'm rambling now. Haha. I don't know, maybe it's just easier to take a much stronger, "I'm right, you're wrong" stance on things on the internet, because you don't have to talk to people face to face. It's easier to type to a screen that someone should go "Die In A Fire" than it is to seriously tell someone that in person.

Imagine if people really acted in every day life how they do online in fandom? Heaven forbid.

[identity profile] speaky-bean.livejournal.com 2007-09-21 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
3. I have no idea what pairing you're talking about, but I implore you to write it. I'll bet you anything that there will be at least one person who's dying to read just that pairing, and if not, you might just get other people into it. I write for the Death Note fandom, and I'm writing an L/Sachiko (Light's mom) fanfic. No one who's reading it ever thought of the pairing, but now a bunch of them ship it. =P It's totally worth doing, and fandom would be boring as hell if all we had were mainstream pairings. Whatever your fandom is, you'll only be helping it.
