Cool story, bro.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-19 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
What a useless thing to say. Why even comment?

You're welcome, I guess?

So here's your remind to download the lackluster finale, OP!

References to spoilers for "The Name of the Doctor"

[personal profile] elephantinegrace 2013-05-19 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Lackluster? Maybe it's because I was one of the lucky 210 so I've had more time to think about it, but I thought it was pretty cool. Not the deaths-that-aren't (that trope is really over used by now) or the big reveal at the end with cough cough but a lot of the little things in the beginning were pretty neat, and the way the monsters were set up actually scared me for once. Maybe the Matt and David video will clear up a few things (I'm pretty sure he is supposed to be the Valeyard). At the very least, it better be good; I deserve it for being so technologically hopeless!

What series were you watching? It wasn't the one broadcast by the BBC that's for damn sure.

Yeah, Name of the Doctor was the biggest mess of WTFery since the episodes that kissed Ten goodbye.

1. Minor character fanservice? Check.
2. Multiple expository infodumps and vague prophecies? Check.
3. Villain lecturing The Doctor and companions about morality? Check.
4. Major plot mechanics introduced mere minutes before they're relevant? Check.
5. Maudlin "goodbye, or not" dialogues? Check.

Really all we need now is to have Strax, Brian Williams, and Stormageddon winking at each other while flying the Tardis.

If you like the show, shouldn't you know to watch the episodes on your own without being reminded?

....oh, shiny!

(Not the OP.)

Because OP doesn't have cable and has a wonky sleep schedule, and is thus lucky to remember what day of the week it is half the time.

Because I get so buried in fanfic that if it wasn't because the computer was in the same room as the TV, and Mum watches it practically religiously, I'd miss the show.

And it's not my main fandom at the moment.

I love that Steven Moffat has been confirmed in the post of Showrunner and Head Writer for the next two years too. Hopefully the haters will throw a tantrum and fuck off to sulk at that news.

They don't seem to realize just how unwatchable their version of what they think a Doctor Who show would be.
fauxkaren: (Default)

[personal profile] fauxkaren 2013-05-19 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. Because people who complain about Moffat all have the exact same idea of what a Doctor Who show should be.

We are a hive mind.

YOU FOUND US OUT! (Now we have to kill you. Sorry.)

Less inconsistencies and better character developpement make for an unwatchable version ?
Well okay, then.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-19 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
.....I haven't watched for a year, so how can I sulk? More to the point, why would I "sulk"?

I make no bones about the fact that I no longer watch the show, however. There are quite a few of us in the same position here at F!S, it seems.

Can this into a thread where we complain about the finale then?

(Anonymous) 2013-05-19 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
It wasn't as bad as last series (but then very few things are that bad) but I don't really think I like what they're setting up for the 50th.

Like why no McGann.... why...

Otherwise please let that be the last we see of River so we can all forget what a mess became of a character with such potential.

The Finale was great, go whine somewhere else unclefucka

(Anonymous) 2013-05-19 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
The finale was awesome though. There is nothing to hate in it. Oh and there was McGann. There was a brief glimpse of him in the echo chamber, and then a much fuller glance at him recast as John Hurt.

Not just no McGann, no anyDoctor except David. I'm still bitter.

Re: Can this into a thread where we complain about the finale then?

(Anonymous) 2013-05-19 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I really don't know what to expect for the 50th with this final twist.
Also I found the last image so embarrassing with the text appearing on it... I don't even know why they thought it was a good idea.

About Jenny's "fake death" (the first one, where Strax ressurect here with science) : On one hand it was seriously ridiculous but on the other I'm happy because I'll be able to continue laughing at the people thinking Moffat is a ~monster killing all the characters~.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-19 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
This secret is perfect for spotting the Moff haters. They are all shut up, or this secret is useless. Hating that the bible of hating is not having the effect they want.

Come on haters, whine harder. They can't hear you on Gallifrey (a very long time ago) yet.

You're welcome?

idk, I don't care if people like it, I just don't.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-19 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
You can probably set up an alert on your computer to do the same thing. That way you don't have to rely on an internet forum, which, let's be honest, is never going to be the most reliable thing in the universe.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-19 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It reminds me, too. I just kinda scan through the episodes to get an idea of what's happening so I won't be in the dark when the show transforms again sometime in the future. I'm assuming I'll like that transformation but of course I might not. There was a stretch of Classic Who that I didn't like and I still don't really know what I missed from that time and I'm just trying to avoid that happening again.

It just makes me want to scream at them to stop fucking watching if they hate it so goddamn much.

And I don't even watch Dr. Who, I'm just sick of scrolling past people bitching about it.
intrigueing: (buffy eww)

[personal profile] intrigueing 2013-05-20 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
Uh, okay? I think the implication you were trying to go for is "LOL@U Moffat-haters, you're *helping* me watch it and you're not convincing me not to watch it!! You failed!!!" but...um...I doubt most people who dislike Moffat actually give a shit if other people like it. And anyway, that's not why people hate on things.

People post unfavorably about things because, obviously, it bothers them to watch things that have problems that rub them the wrong way, and they want to vent/share their opinion/seek out other peoples' opinions. Which is the same thing as what people who post favorably about things do. It's okay to like things, as long as you're open to people disagreeing, and it's also okay to hate things.

I mean, if you post in a public forum, people are gonna post their opinions in reply, and not all of them are gonna be favorable. No one's out to get you or trying to police your preferences, they're just stating their own preferences and engaging in discussion about it.
