Well sometimes the plebs need to be reminded that Tom Hiddleston and Benedict Cumberbatch are the most amazing beings in this Universe and we should be lucky they deigned to bless something as mainstream as blockbuster movies with their presence. Ehehehehe.

Yeah, I can't stand them or their fans. The latter came first of course, I thought they were OK actors before.

I met the SPN boys and it's kind of weird how much the smile when they're not trying to portray deep angst and manpain.

I don't have a crush on Sam, but damn Jared is hilarious and adorable!

The comments about their appearances changing are sort of expected, but I will never understand how some people think Character's personality = Actor's personality.

I think it's basically human facial recognition + personality memory overriding common sense. That's the only explanation I've got, anyway, because it's never made sense to me, either. Do people completely miss the point of acting?

Tumblr has this weird way of being all "Let's pretend to be super dumb so we can think everything is amazing!" Sometimes I think it's funny, but yeah, sometimes it's just moronic.

Do people really have this problem with the Supernatural guys? Because in those two photos, they look exactly the same, just dressed in slightly different clothes and carrying/not carrying luggage.

Still, I get your point and I agree it's odd to flip out over actors successfully looking, sounding, and acting like different people, even to the point of being unrecognizable. I haven't seen 42 yet, but after seeing the trailer and a clip, I think it's really cool how Harrison Ford looks so not like Harrison Ford. It's great when an actor can be really well-known and still disappear into a role or successfully take on a role that goes against what audiences expect from that person.

Seriously. The whole thing is silly anyway but adding the SPN cast into it makes it even more hilarious since they look just like their characters off-screen.

I think with the SPN characters it's less about hair colour etc. than about their general demeanour, smiles, facial expressions, and also their voices (Jensen sounds nothing like Dean, for example). But yeah ... that's what ACTING is.

Unlike, you know, Nicolas Cage.

I actually didn't realize it was Sherlock guy in Star Trek last week until halfway through the movie, and I didn't realize the guy who played Han Solo was also in Indiana Jones (I couldn't actually watch the entire movie because it was so ridiculous, so that might have been it) until my friend pointed it out. But I can't seem to see Nicolas Cage's roles as their own characters; I only ever see him.

Oh god that reminds me of one of my ex-friends who would have an almost-breakdown over the fact that Barney from How I Met Your Mother is actually a gay person and a father. He was all like "omg he deceived me! he betrayed me! He isn't my bro anymore!!!"

I'm pretty sure most people know very well how these things work. They're just marveling at the differences between the actor and the character, some of which are fairly impressive.

It's hyperbole, basically, which I'm pretty sure is a staple of Tumblr.

This. There's some genuine stupid in Tumblr, but a lot of people are just having fun being over the top.

I just don't like it when it would be totally OOC for the character to smoke, barring some kind of explanation it's just strange to have your suddenly health-conscious goody two shoes with a career that involves needing to stay fit suddenly taking up the habit

How could Benedict and Sherlock not be the same guy, with all the people who look just like Benedict Cumberbatch running around!
