LOL doin' it wrong secret: I don't know how the blah!character format got started, but the exclamation mark is also universally used to call attention to the fact that something unexpected has occurred or has the potential to occur.

I've always assumed that the ! was used to acknowledge and sort of alert the reader to the fact that the description that precedes it is a deviation from canon. And dude, lighten up, there are a lot of more worthy srs bsns things to get upset about in fandom.

29. I hate to say it, but I really hate all the only-AC fans. The game's not that hard to get a hold of. Why can't people just spend the damn money? The original is better than the compilation games anyway. AC alone can't explain anything.

I have no real basis to say this since I'm not in the fandom, but the people I've talked to who have only watched/played the compilation seem to have an INCREDIBLY skewered view of canon. I mean, obviously they're going to misunderstand the plot and all that crap by having not played the original game, but in general, I can't even connect with AC-era fans on characterization. I dunno- the compilation has always felt distinctly OOC to me, as well as a few character's portrayals in Kingdom Hearts (wtf, mild-mannered, etheral, Aerith-bot? o__O)

I always feel like such an elitist bitch for saying this, but it honestly gets on my nerves in the "I'd like to have a conversation about my favorite RPG that is actually ABOUT THE DAMN GAME, plz." It's also an observation that seems to be supported by the large divide in fandom between game-fans and AC-fans.

*sigh*

I guess people find it hard to play the game because some of the new fans just aren't experienced gamers, or don't own a PS2. *shrug* Which honestly isn't their fault (that's when you rope friends for playing the game with/for you! :D)

All the Animorphs are that strong, though usually in less subtle ways. ...Rachel, actually, was never as strong as she acted. Gah, you really ought to try reading most of the books. There are some in the middle which are extremely revelatory. Like, the one where she tried to take over and be leader instead of Jake. See what happens and who has to step up instead.

I feel your pain :( I hardly ever comment unless I think I have something to say - which is very rarely - but then when I do have something to say I feel terribly self-conscious about commenting, because I haven't for so long, and then it comes out stilted, and then if there's a response I overanalyse it. On bad days I can end up feeling as if everyone thinks I'm a complete weirdo. Why should it be so hard?

The worst thing is, I used to be on this website that was a bit like an early MySpace, and I was subscribed to about 200 blogs and commented on every single entry. I'm not sure when it changed.

Fucking word. I'm not even in the damn fandom (just can't get through the series) and it pisses me off. If you're really that hard up for Matt/Mello, then write fic or do some damn one-on-one logs over AIM or something. You're not the only damn people that want to play them, get the fuck over yourselves and move on.
