24 - Man, this secret about made me piss my pants laughing. It's your attitude and the way you phrase it.

"ROCK THE FUCK ON. YOU DON'T WANT TO BE THEIR BIG BROTHER, YOU DON'T NEED THEIR MOMMA'S PERMISSION."

LOL! Rock on! Even though I don't care for high school AUs myself, I agree with the sentiments and spirit of this secret! Don't give a flip about other's bitchiness for what you like/fan over. Srsly. Let them have a hernia while you enjoy what you like.

Wow. I <3 this secret-poster.

I don't like her work either. O.O!

33. Yay, one of my avatars is in there! XDDD

----

I have never liked the FFVII compilation, but this comm is what makes me wish it never existed. I mean, I know the FFVII fandom has been wanking for pretty much a decade straight at this point, but these days it seems that the fandom is mostly made up of people who don't actually LIKE the game (because liking FFVII makes you automatically uncool).

Although I will agree with you, 37: Sephiroth was buttfuck ugly in AC. BUTTFUCK. UGLY.

[identity profile] cephiedvariable.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
Also, not!Secret 2? I totally agree on the "underrated character development arcs" point. It's not even because of the assumption that nothing "good" or "deep" or "emotional" happens in American comics (although it is that as well), it's mostly because all the really GOOD character development happens outside of A-list characters. It's only the characters who aren't recognized by the general public, or the legacy heroes, or the obscure characters (or, in the case of your favorite, the, uh, displaced Liefeld creations) who get the most fantastic character arcs.

Not a BNF or anything, but this hit a chord - I occasionally get really thoughtful and wonderful comments on my art from relative strangers. It's usually prefaced by "oh god I hope this doesn't sound creepy..."

The truth?
It's not creepy at all. Every time I read things like this, I'm so touched that a total stranger took the time to write something like that that I cry a little bit. (I AM A GIANT DORK)

I never really know how to adequately respond without sounding like a moron. Sometimes, if I'm having a really shitty week, I let the comment sit at the top of my Unread pile just so it's the first thing I see when I check mail, because it really does feel nice.

But thanks for showing the other side - I'm off to do some responding now :3

And speaking of art... I googled "P.L. Nunn" but I'd never seen the artwork before (really nice, though!)

But I'm nearly positive I've seen that name somewhere... even though I'm not in any of the same fandoms. Am I confusing it with some other author, or does she have books published? It sounds so damn familiar.

[identity profile] chakuura.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
14. I remember that fic! It was pretty awesome, considering it's subject.

17. I hate to think what I would think of the books if I were in the fandom, i'm just happy I was able to enjoy the entire book. I don't think she ruined Ginny's character, I don't entirely love her character, but she matured throughout the series, and thats what happen when some girls mature.

29. Sick of FF7 elitist secrets. You're stressing over a mediocre game made years ago, that now has a ton of other mediocre spin offs, get over yourself.

38. Oh god yes, i've never found W-inds to be entirely sexy like other J-bands, but Keita is very much the older brother type, and after reading this secret I could totally see it in my head. :D

...Was it me? ¬_¬ But that's a popular Host Club icon, and I don't do HC art... but...

To anyone's comment I neglected to answer due to my own inattention: Sorry, and thank you. Being a fan of people's art and saying so is never creepy.

Speaking as a fanartist, I appreciate all the replies and comments but do apologize sincerely if I am not able to respond or somehow miss someone. Sometimes it feels big-headed of me if I say "thank you" 20 times in a row. To be honest I couldn't be happier when I see someone commenting or saying they like my art.

[identity profile] ill-ame.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
Sweetie, listen, DO NOT let this get you down or discourage you. If someone ignores you after you give them a compliment, that's their problem, not yours. Being a BNF is no excuse for rudeness and a simple "thanks!" takes only a second to write. You shouldn't have to feel afraid to admire somebody, and there's no reason why they shouldn't be happy getting praise from you. There are some popular writers and artists who do respond to every comment they receive and remain humble and grateful. Just keep trying and it shouldn't take you long to find someone out there who actually appreciates you for voicing your love.

Good luck. :)

5. Gay? HE HITS ON GIRLS.

10. It was cut off in its prime. :(

17. Luckily, Ginny's only in like two chapters of that whole book.

I didn't even know there were BNF's as far as Death Note RP goes.

3. You'd probably kill me if I said that that was a really sweet secret, because it's obviously not fun for you. I do get like that, especially when trying to meet new people, sometimes it takes months for me to be at ease and be myself around them. I think I've gotten a bit better and more comfortable with myself as time goes on. Your girlfriend seems nice, I'm sure she can wait til you're comfortable to open up a little.

10. =( I miss Angel.

17. Probably will get a lot of backlash for this, but honestly, I find that Ginny's character to be so all over the place, she practically doesn't have a personality for me. One book, she's the stereotypical awkward little sister, next, she's quiet and shy, next, she's a random member of the gang, next, she gets all loud and brazen and suddenly, she's the main love interest type. I suppose it's harder to see how she developed because she's in a younger year and doesn't get much "screentime", but still, she's far too much of a randomer for me to be able to like OR hate her. Again, I will never understand why she was the main love itnerest. RxHr is fine by me though!

18. XD Right on! He rocks so much!

23. That series is so amazing. I recently rewatched them and was amazed at how brilliant they were. I always loved them, but you can really appreciate them more when you get older.

[identity profile] zeto.livejournal.com 2007-09-28 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
17) R/Hr was the best! LOL, those two were so awesome together. <3 Before TDH came out, my friends and I had a betting pool going on. On who would die in the end. And I said, if Ron or Hermione had to die, they better die together because I didn't want them without each other. T_T
