I liked it, anon! I haven't gone looking for a fandom or anything, but I liked it. I hated how they showed a Kansas football game and it was KU, when universally in Kansas you will find that KU is good for basketball, K-State for football. But if that was the biggest nitpick I had, I consider it good.

I haven't seen it yet but my roommate liked it. Don't assume you have bad taste and definitely don't apologize for it! Like the things you like.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-08 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I liked it too.

It seems that members of my f-list hated it, so I'm not even saying that I saw it.

I loved it, too.

I liked it just fine as a movie... but hated it as a Superman movie... if that makes sense.

I liked it too, OP!

It wasn't perfect, and there were definitely flaws, but overall I really enjoyed it. (A large part of that came from Lois actually being smart instead of the movie just telling us that she is.)

I personally didn't like it, but I was at a convention this weekend and I went to a ton of movie panels. So many people really enjoyed it there, especially movie fans on the panels.

Everything depends on taste, in a way. Don't feel bad because you liked something that wasn't liked by everyone.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-08 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
It wasn't a good movie. It had, frankly, tons of problems.

But people enjoyed it anyway, so you're hardly alone.

It's a good movie, I don't understand where the hate is coming from, and I say this as a comics fan.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-08 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't seen the movie but that is the worst Superman suit I've ever seen!

Haven't seen it yet, but don't let other people make you feel like you have bad taste. Even if it is flawed (and what isn't, honestly) that doesn't mean you aren't allowed to enjoy it.

Own your opinion! (It's as valid as anyone's!)

Well, I personally liked it. To a person who is 'meh' towards the whole Superman franchise in general like me, the movie was quite an interesting take.

[personal profile] transcriptanon 2013-07-09 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
[Picture is the character Superman from the movie "Man of Steel". He is a muscular man with short dark hair and slightly tanned pale skin. He is wearing a spandex dark blue suit with an emblem of a red "S" on his chest and a bright red cape over his back. He is standing in front of a small parking lot.]

I loved this movie. But the internet seems to have universally loathed it, so I'm afraid to even bring it up. I just want someone to squee with. I'm sorry I've got bad taste.

I liked it a lot! Much more than TDK trilogy. I feel like while they changed a lot (and really had way too much destruction, reel it back, guys) it really stayed true to the core of the characters (except arguably Pa Kent).

I'm totally indifferent to superhero movies and I don't particularly plan on going to see this one, but I have to say that the huge glaring 7-11 sign in the background totally ruins this for me hahahahaha

I didn't even know it was hated until I saw a few secrets saying that it is, most people I know certainly liked it and thought it was good fun(if a bit OTT by the end with the sheer amount building destruction) myself included. I had a few nitpicks but for me it could have been a lot worse.

Also Henry Cavil is stupidly pretty.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-09 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
I honestly don't see why people would hate since I liked the movie. It was a pretty cool movie! :D

(Anonymous) 2013-07-09 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
I hear people who aren't in the respective fandoms alwas like movie adaptions much more than the fans of the source material. Maybe you should stick to those people?

(Anonymous) 2013-07-09 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
I liked it. I especially appreciated how Lois Lane was played by an age-appropriate actress (and that said actress was Amy Adams <3) and that it didn't slog through Clark's childhood aside from a few flashbacks, and jumped right into his adventures as an adult.

(Anonymous) 2013-07-09 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
For some reason I want to go to 7-11 now...

(Anonymous) 2013-07-09 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
I really liked it! The tone and feel of it kinda reminded me of the Lois and Clark tv show, and that was about my favourite Supes incarnation ever! (except for Batman/Superman comic)

(Anonymous) 2013-07-09 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Squee with me baby, I loved it!

(Anonymous) 2013-07-09 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
I'm another one who loved it. Superman is far from my favorite superhero, mostly because I find him boring. You know he's going to do the right thing in the right way, and he delivers. Giving the Superman mythos a darker take (and forcing the character to do something nobody else has had the guts to have him do, again, because he always does what's right) made him much more interesting to me.

I do have a couple of nitpicks. Like many people, I don't understand the gratuitous destruction during the final battle with Zod, because wasn't the point of destroying the terraformer saving all those people who have now died in your epic battle? And second, the people at the very end that Zod was trying to kill COULD HAVE RUN AWAY! Seriously. They aren't trapped with nowhere to go and Zod's eyebeams bearing down on them. There is totally PLENTY OF OPEN SPACE TO RUN TO AND SAVE YOURSELF? I'm not really sure how the director/editor's/ cgi sfx guys missed that.

Oh, and Henry Cavil is delicious. He's my new favorite.

And I actually like the new super suit. I really thought I would be distracted by all that blue with nothing to break it up, but I didn't notice it at all. Go figure.

My friend is a film masters with a super hero focus. He thinks it's the best Superman movie made, yet.

It's still all about preference, but I take his opinion a little more seriously than the interwebz where people like to be contrary.
