Notes:

Hey, "Hint Hint ^_^"? If your secret's not a secret and was never posted, maybe you should, you know, have made it a secret instead of bitching about it afterward. Logic, right?

Go on, be angry! It's fun to watch. (:

Of course, the date's screwed up as well... along with yesterday.

LOL. THE TIME JUMPING IS TEH CONFUSING

38: OMG LET'S BE BFF! Thrall is love and so is Thrall/Jaina.

[identity profile] cftf.livejournal.com 2007-10-01 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
FOR THE HORDE!

If it weren't for the whole not-being-human bit, Thrall would be the perfect man.

3. ...What could have POSSIBLY been so bad?
11. Oh, win! :D
31. I think Kamina just affects people like that. His confidence just rubs off on you.
33. Holy crap, I bought that book for the hell of it at an airport once! I didn't know it was something people had actually heard of.
37. I still play make-believe. :P Sometimes, I'll give myself a little treat by wearing clothing that sets the mood, making up a little storyline, and wandering around to different places around my town, and pretending in my head that I'm a mage or a vampire or an explorer or any number of things. I'm 19, and I don't think I'll ever grow out of it. It's part of who I am, and it makes me feel good, so I see no reason to stop using my imagination to make life a little more interesting.

1. Hahaha THAT IS AWESOME
29. TRULY TRULY TRULY OUTRAGEOUS

[identity profile] pariah164.livejournal.com 2007-10-01 09:18 am (UTC)(link)
3. Boo hoo too sensitive. :\ You made a gross generalization about people. How proud you must be of yourself. For the record, I'm a Higurashi fan. I'm in it for the plot; the death is part of the plot. It's fine if you can't handle it, but don't just assume everyone who watches it is a mass murderer in waiting. We're not, and you're ignorant to think so.

12. COMRAAAADE. I think the same exact thing.

24. D'awwwww so damn cute. XD

16. I suspect that would be my fault! XD

3. (THIS COMMENT CONTAILS SPOILERS)

[identity profile] sevetenks.livejournal.com 2007-10-01 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Well you know I think, seeing as I absolutely love this series (and School Days too for that matter), I'm gonna go hijack a NICE BOAT and rip out the love of my life's fingernails, but only after I behead them and rip of their best friend's baby out of their womb and beat their uncle to death with a baseball bat, so we can be on a romantic cruise forever.

But seriously, I love the characters of Higurashi, the story, the thrill and just about everything about it. It's a great series and everyone should get in on it.

And uh by the way anonymous, the overall theme is not LOL KILLERS AND MURDER but actually WE MUST FIGHT FATE AND LIVE ON!!!! UNMEI JA NAI!!!! HINAMIZAWA DA!!! etc

Re: 3. (THIS COMMENT CONTAILS SPOILERS)

[identity profile] sevetenks.livejournal.com 2007-10-01 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh and I'll be eating some NICE CAKE with that severed head for every meal on our romantic love cruise. Can't forget that.

19: I don't know how much actual fandom there is for it, but I personally ship Bumper/Stunt (come on, what slash fangirl doesn't?), Szark Sturtz/Dex Garrit, and purely because the current storyline is breaking my little fangirl heart, Jayden/Milov/Siggy OT3 (soooo wrong, I know). DD fandom: needs moar fanfic!

As a person who is bilingual since birth - well, that's what bilingual means, innit? Sorry - and who speaks and reads four languages now - no Japanese, but it's the principle of the translation thing - I can tell you that on one hand there is no such beast as a perfect translation because you can't translate cultural referents and when you try you end up utterly screwing up the original subtext which, BTW, is way more important than text in understanding written prose or poetry.

On the other hand, once you realise there is a very concrete limit to what translation can do, a good translation will give readers the original subtext and mood, even if it doesn't seem to be too adherent to the apparent text.

Given that nothing can replace being able to understand the original text and subtext and cultural references - but one has to have lived in that particular palce for years, hasn't one, to get it all - I still say that it's possible to read a good translation of everything. Maybe your problems are more related to how you operated when you first started translating and subtitling - which is a rather difficult art all in itself - than to what people who are not you are doing now.

Oh my god, are those DBZ pogs?

Those were cool when I was in sixth grade. XDDDDD That totally made my day.

[identity profile] blitzbebe.livejournal.com 2007-10-02 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
9. Oh lord... They're gonna kill it. Seriously, how are they going to do the footnotes in a MOVIE? (They were the funniest part!) I need to know who's directing it, so my mind may be at rest. And if they don't cast good ol' Barti right I'm setting up pitchfork-and-torches shops outside his house.

12. YES, THEY ARE.

37, just to let you know, if you ever wrote out your fanverse adventures, I would read every fucking word. I don't even like DBZ much but that sounds damn awesome.
