Honestly. That's men being men with each other, yaoi is often made for girls, it's fanservicey.

Though really, I think you're not looking in the right places for your yaoi o_o I've seen a lot of stuff without one of the pairing being especially girly. I seem to recall a general comment in FS about the uke/seme thing soemtime before saying that the stereotype has been dying out for sometime... I think they're right because it range is so vast now :x There's a lot of yaoi consisting of the men being men, trust me.

#23, ty for saying that. I don't know what they're reading or where, but I write slash and I can assure you my men are men and not weepy handwringers, and 100% of my flist write them that way too.

I love how this secret has Runaways, X-men, DOGS, Baccano! and Avatar, all in one nice package (notice my keen ignorance of Clamp). All those series are SO good.

11. Here here! I like comics, cartoons, manga and anime, so does my roommate actually. We happily enjoy a little bit lot of everything. Why people have to be so elitist with their "my preferred culture's entertainment is better than yours" blows my mind. Hell we were looking at comics and manga in Borders today and some kids, between eight and ten years old at the most were bitching up a storm about Kingdom Hearts and how lame and all around shitty it was for trying to be asian becuase disney knows how superior asian stuff is. 25. What will you do then? I agree that many English translations ring hollow if you know the language well enough. It sounds like you've put too much time and effort into learning the language to do something as fatal as quitting fandom or something like that. The good news is that there's far more in Japan that has never seen the light of day here. I'm sure some scanlation circle would love to have you. I want to see you succeed and keep contributing to fandom for your love of the language alone.

Yeah, it's Crisis Core alright. I'm not sure how I'm gonna deal with playing FF7 again; I've always had somewhat of a hard time killing Sephiroth, and now -- after seeing him in CC; such a sweet and sane guy -- it's gonna be near impossible.

I hope you have a chance to play CC soon! It was much better than I had expected, I truly loved it.

9 - Here or in history class or anywhere, really, every time I see "Samarkand" my brain tries to correct it to "Zanarkand," and I fail at life for that, don't I? >.>

23 - Oh do I EVER hear you. Some of my fandoms are so horrible about that I've pretty much abandoned them (I'm looking at you, Naruto).

25 - Oh god, I totally know what you mean about the nuances of the language. I'm not that great at Japanese yet, but there's still so much that can't really be translated at all (particularly personal pronouns and sentence endings), and I only wish my reading comprehension were better so I could read manga that wasn't translated.

30 - OH GOD ME TOO. ;_; That fight upset me about a million times more than the Nibelheim incident did, and I don't know if it was because I had no idea it was coming or because their relationship was clearly a close one or both, but... Trust me, you're not the only one.

33 - The problem with Jordan's books was he was trying to do too much at once, and that's why it all just ground to a halt, but the laughing thing? Is pretty douche-y.
