Sure, Sam deserves to be happy. But soulless!Sam was pretty much an asshole who'd kill a person without thinking twice. Not a monster or a bad guy, but a *victim* - how does that make Sam happy?

He was, in fact, horrified when he found out what his soulless self had done.

And, you know - he had a couple chances to stay with Amelia and didn't, so....

I am 100% certain that if you're watching this show because you want to see either of the Winchesters 'happy', you're doing it wrong.

Besides, IDK why you'd equate some of the shittiest times of Sam's life (fucking Ruby, blood addiction, soullessness) with him being happy. It may have been fun to watch, but Sam sure as fuck wasn't happy about any of that.

Personally, I'm far more interested in seeing Dean happy. Those few moments last season when he was hanging out with Benny before things went FUBAR (thanks, Sam), when he was all gung-ho about his purpose in life, when he was standing up for himself, when he seemed to be enjoying things again, that was the most I've enjoyed this show in years. Plus, happy Dean is still all fucked up, so it's still fascinating. Happy Sam is like 'lookit me with my dog and my seriously unpleasant girlfriend and my spaghetti and shit!'. The only good thing about happy Sam was his wardrobe, lots of nice form fitting shirts when he was being domestic. Happy Sam is boring as shit, sorry. Sitting through his flashbacks was excruciating.

I truely think neither boys will be happy unless their both dead, and even then, that's questionable.

I guess Dean's paradise would be him + beer + fishing and Sam's would be him + salad + dog. I don't think it would take a lot for either to be happy. I just think they've forgotten how.

I've missed episodes here and there, given up and then gone back to the show. I hated the whole angel story line and Sam being on the side of demons, but that said he will always be one of my favorite characters, ever, across all medias.

And it's not like he really ever apologized (without blaming someone else in the process) or made up for it or cared about how it affected anyone other than himself. Jumping in that hole at the end of season 5, it was like, the least he could do. And he wouldn't have had to in the first place if he hadn't been so egofuckingtistical as to think he could overpower SATAN.

IDK, Sam just always seems so fucking sociopathic and self-centered and pretentious, I don't feel like he deserves anything but a kick in the ass.

Hasn't Sam been borderline-sociopathic and self-centered and pretentious from the start? I mean, that's kind of his thing as a character. There's a reason why he's the only brother constantly going evil. I feel like (well, I felt like, when I was still watching) the show should just commit to him being a villain of his own free will already.

I feel like love is probably stronger than my actual feelings for Sam, but damn if I don't want that kid to just be FUCKING HAPPY, FUCK. I know it'll never happen as long as the show is on, because Sam just wants out and it's not ever going to be the Dean-goes-around-hunting-things-while-Sam-watches-football show. But that's what I want. I want Sam to go back to Amelia and his fucking dog and to go help Dean if Dean seriously needs help and for Dean to be happy in the bunker and kill things that need killed and maybe have some hunter pals (RESURRECT BENNY AGAIN) and maybe Cas around somewhere, SHIT, is that too much to ask?
