Re: How many writers do we have here anyway?

Yeah, we have a lot of fic writers here and those who just write their original stuff for fun on the side.

Ursula is the best at sea witching. I bet she's got killer advice.

People do, regardless. There's not much you can do to stop that, unless you explain directly to them that you have severe anxiety.
And, even then, people will STILL talk shit about you because they either think that it makes you dangerous / autistic / whatever, or that you aren't "trying hard enough."

You're kind of fucked, regardless. Much like having any kind of mental condition.

It's a shitty position to be in.

But it doesn't mean you need to promote the negativity.
Otherwise, you're kind of just being an adamant raging douche.

So pretty much any non-lurker then.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yes, I'm not surprised that some people think that way--but I didn't see anybody saying it here, in relation to the OP's issue.

Ah, at $600 more in earnings, you are an absolute moron if you don't take it, even if you could only give one day notice. You've seriously been offered a job with better pay, better hours, and a chance to de-stress from your current work and you're not sure if you should take it?

Start jumping up and down all ready!

Commenting in threads is closer to talking, imo.

Is this cathartic or sexual?

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah so this is an uncomfortable question, but one that I really feel I need help on.

I've been reading a fic where a character is experiencing a serious physical problem that I also have. We both had seizures, and reading about him behaving in the compromised, post ictal state to a seizure give me a really visceral sense of understanding and satisfaction.

I don't feel like it's hot or sexy, but it's provoking a truly physical reaction of maybe sympathy or pleasure. Sympathetic pleasure? I mean, the post ictal state is not a pleasant experience, but seeing how it must have looked to see me in that state is kind of... weird/interesting/satisfying?

I don't feel like I wanna bang his brains out, just I feel very very connected to him through that experience, more than identifying with him on an intellectual level.

I really have no fucking clue why I'm having this reaction. Can anyone give me some insight?

Well you'll never find out for sure with that attitude.

But, whatever helps you sleep at night. ;)

I tried some Latte powder I bought the other day it was nice, and it didn't give me hell jitters like normal coffee does these days!

Right now I'm watching Lets Plays of PS3 games. It's a great way to really find out if I want to buy a game or not.

It was fine. It was just the one speed one, so for 125$ I definitely overpaid, because my mother has a cheaper one that has three speeds.

At least if yours breaks, Olay may be more willing to fulfill the warranty.

I've been paid for children's stories, and editing.

you like yoga butts and you cannot lie

I look at dis bitch and her fandom-paid whatnots & etceteras, and then think of someone like Anna S. (eliade) and her talent and horrible RL issues, and it's sick making.

You know, they have a radio station in Desert Bluffs. The guy there does a great job of explaining it. I can't really remember the exact words as I was oddly bleeding from my ears at the time but trust me, the pills are working great!

A few weeks ago, when I was displaced in reality by a living buzzing shadow for a while, I was pretty upset about it, I'll tell you. Now, I doubt I'd even lose sleep over it!

I can't even step into the circle anymore for some reason, it glows all weird. And you know what? I don't think I need to anyway! To be honest, I'm wondering if a nice fishtank wouldn't fill the space nicer and give the room a much cheerier ambiance.

It's not that glamorous, but I guess it's kinda okay. It mostly involves me lying around and watching Netflix or reading fic or playing games. And eating. Pretty much doing whatever I want since I'm doubly not going to be working for a while. (Already furloughed before the forced furloughs.)

...Because seeing something that you've experienced but rarely every see talked about/acknowledged [particularly in media] can really hit you?

At least, that's why I felt that way when I saw my mental illness portrayed as not the worst thing in the world/magical power - but almost exactly how I experienced it.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Makes me want to get my stuff out there, personally. To be an author (especially one coming from fandom) who isn't a bully, a plagiarist or wrote bad BDSM Twilight fic (50 Shades).

Aw man, all at once I wanna say, "Yeah, that great!" and "Aw, that sucks."

I hope you get your job back but enjoy your time not working.

Re: AUs - Tell me about yours

[personal profile] fingalsanteater 2013-10-04 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
"Canon-flavor AUs" is exactly the term I was looking for to describe the kind of AUs I like. I'm not really interested in AUs that completely transplant the characters to somewhere else.
