I too have discovered the wonder of loose leaf tea. I find myself feeling notably unhappy if I don't have my tea that day, and everything just.gets.better with every sip.

And I've found out the fandom is fine! only, Thou Must Not Go To The Tags at tumblr, and seriously, it's like when they said all that awful stuff about Homestuck all over again. Indeed there are some people that really ought to step away from the computer, but most of the fandom is quite chillax'd.

What it boils down to is that she's a giant plagiarist who lifted the best lines of her HP fanfics from various other media and couldn't be bothered to give credit where it was due. She ended up with a bunch of slobbering fangirls... and a publishing contract for her "original" work.

Oh god I love AUs. I love for-the-want-of-a-nail AUs, I love Darker And Edgier interpretations (Pokemon fandom does Darker And Edgier REALLY well!), and, I'll admit it, I have a shameful love for modern AUs.

...Including high school / university AUs (my main fandom does involve high school-aged characters, at least!) and coffee shop AUs. Cough.

Most recent AUs are a university AU (Zelda fandom, here), and, significantly shorter, an AU meme here (also Zelda fandom - it's one of those 'pick ten characters, fill in prompts according to numberes' things). ...My AU tag is extensive and active, heh.

And no one's forcing you to use Cumberbitches. Just start using Cumberbuddies, who knows, maybe it will catch on. You can't tell me that there aren't a fuckton of SJW on tumblr who would jump on the chance to use something else than the bad misogynistic slur.

Mass Effect AU

After Shepard's memorial the squad went out drinking. Garrus got smashed so Wrex and Ashley had to carry him back to his apartment. He woke on his sofa with a hangover the next morning and went into his bedroom to find Wrex and Ashley occupying his bed.

When Shepard ran into Ashley on Horizon she was in a long distance relationship with Wrex and had moved on but Shepard didn't find out because Ashley didnt say anything about it.

During the events of ME3 even if Shepard romanced Ashley in ME1 she is not interested in leaving Wrex.

If Shepard is female she ends up with Garrus or Bakara, if Shepard is male he realises he's gay for Garrus.

That really blows. And not even a single 'thank you'? Man... I'd feel pretty slighted if I was in your position, OP.

And tbh, I've thought of meeting some folks I've known online for a while now, but I've held off out of fear I may inadvertently end up like your "friend" there, since I'm somewhat shy/aloof myself. Still always remember to say 'thank you', tho'.

(That said, I'm really glad I've met most of my online friends/acquaintances at places like conventions, since there's lots of stuff to do)

One thing is to be terribly, painfully shy, and another is to be (or appear to be) ungrateful. I think being conscious I'm looking terribly ungrateful would make me EVEN MORE SHY so if only to avoid an anxiety episode, I'd never forget to at least say "thank you".
