I still enjoy the show and think it has a good potential after the tenth episode to shine

Yeah, I'm going to wait until after the mid season retool before coming back to it. I'm hoping they kill off Skye though. If they do it right, then they can motivate the rest of the team and mostly Ward to grow the fuck up and act like adults with her death.

Yeah, fridging is definitly the way to go here. I mean, can you imagine a better way to give your male character growth, than by killing of female characters? Hell, can you imagine any other way?

I really think Shield will get better, I don't know why I think this, maybe it's because Whedon shows often start weak (really Firefly is the only exception to this.) And it's Marvel and Whedon, I'm sure there will be enough of a fandom that you can participate in a kink meme or something.

[personal profile] bringreligiontothewamwams 2013-10-12 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Firefly finished weak. The final 14 episodes just kept getting worse, and the psychosis of the fanbase puts people off by fucking wedging the name of their godforsaken piece of shit show into every other fucking discussion and they deserve to be hunted down and strangled with their own smugness.

I looked through the fics on AO3 and a lot were Clint/Coulson. I cried a bit inside. So I'd love some recs as well!

I think it will pick up. We're just getting to know the characters, so I can see why the beginning would be a bit slow. Now that the show (hopefully) has a big bad, we'll have a recurring plotline as well.

a lot were Clint/Coulson

As well they should be. *laughs evilly* That's one of the funniest things about the MCU fandom--you didn't think a few episodes would curb one of the more popular Coulson pairings, did you?

...I've read a couple of gen fics for this fandom. They were amusing even to me. (I, uh, haven't watched AoS yet. I'm waiting for my media canaries to report in.)

OT: spanking!AUs

[personal profile] dreemyweird 2013-10-12 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
...that's one thing I don't get. Like, no, obviously I understand why people enjoy it, I just can't take the idea seriously. It's so ridiculous. Everything is taken from the canon and the rest of the world is a-okay but it is fine to spank adults and everyone does that???? My problem is that I literally crack up every time I see the thing mentioned. An AU where everyone has a cucumber on their head wouldn't feel much more random.

I've heard it lots and lots of times by now, and I'm still kind of wondering why so many people consider Melinda May to be the one good character on AoS?

(Anonymous) 2013-10-12 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh, I think she's the only character with potential, actually. Ward is a boring Leading Man complete with tragic backstory, while Skye and the science groupies are really annoying. Melinda May could be developed enough to probably carry the show as showrunner, though, which is probably what people are seeing. I have high hopes for her character; I've already dismissed the rest.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-12 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I honestly don't know. People are all "She has the most potential" and, yeah, she has the ~*~mysterious background~*~ thing going for her and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing it revealed. But I think all of the characters have potential to grow (yes, even Skye - who probably wouldn't be getting as much flack is she were male - there I said it).

Also, I think the science twins are cute.

*double-checks anon* I suspect a part of the people who say that do so because she's Asian and they feel it gives them SJ cred. It's somthing of an automated fandom response. At least it sounds like that to me.

I think May has potential but so far we simply haven't seen a lot of her. The next episode seems to be more focused on her, going by the previews.
jain: Nick Fury, hands on hips. (avengers nick fury)

[personal profile] jain 2013-10-13 02:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I love her best because she's the only character in the main cast who behaves like an adult and who isn't Coulson. (I like Coulson fine as a supporting character, but I'm not really enjoying his upgrade to leading man.) Somewhat related to that, I like competence in my characters, and while the four younger ones have all been established as brilliant in their fields--with varying degrees of credibility from the viewer's POV--they spend most of their time fumbling to find their way through missions and their roles in SHIELD and life. Melinda May has some heavy emotional stuff to work through, obviously, but she's nonetheless highly competent; it's a pleasure to watch her work, while the younger ones, and Ward and Skye in particular, trip my embarrassment squick on a regular basis.

The fact that Ming-Na Wen can actually act definitely doesn't hurt, either. :-)

A1 +Infinity Recommends.

lol I'm just here for Marvel universe references. It's not a very good show :/

(Anonymous) 2013-10-13 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
This pretty much. XD I'm going to ignore everything about it except possible interesting plots and new Coulson character traits (both of which I will use for fanfiction.)

This show is basically the sci-fi/superhero equivalent of Merlin

[personal profile] nyxelestia 2013-10-13 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
The writing is terrible, the acting is debatable, the special effects are bleagh, and the characters are flat and generic. In other words, the show sucks. But we're going to stick around anyway, because the cast is pretty and the fanfic will be awesome.

I stuck around for Merlin, I can stick around for this.

I drop thing that I think "sucks" and spend my free time with stuff I actually enjoy.

From the sounds of it, I'm doing fandom wrong. Oh, well...

I'm not sure why you'd want to read kinky fanfiction about characters you don't even like... but whatever floats your boat I guess.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-13 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
I love Daddy Coulson fic. I didn't even know I had a daddy kink until I stumbled upon some Daddy Coulson fic. Damn it.
