I'm sure him being a white male has nothing to do with that.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-17 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, there's also the issue that it'd be kind of hard to make a Sleepy Hollow series and not have Ichabod Crane in there somewhere.

It'd be a whole different series, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I'm just saying.

Supernatural!

(Anonymous) 2013-11-17 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Supernatural has such a severe shortage of sisters, it's just criminal. Brothers brothers brothers brothers brothers.

I love Ichabod to pieces, but sometimes I wish the siblings had more time on their own together. I hope Jenny is a regular next season.

I was about to post this exact comment. Series regular and space in the opening credits sequence.

The way the show is shaping up, I'd guess that Ichabod and Abbie are going to spend most of this season defeating monsters together, and then next season more characters will band together with them to defeat the obligatory nastier monsters that will show up after the current ones are done away with. When that happens, we'll get more screentime for the not-Abby-or_Ichabod characters, and hopefully a lot of that will be devoted to the sister relationship.

I'd really love it if Sleepy Hollow was about a platonic friendship and a sister relationship and no romance, but that's probably too much to ask for.

And yes, I know the Tumblr SJWs are about to lynch me for not shipping it.

There are a lot of things TV needs more of, interracial relationships are one of them, but non-sexual relationships between people of opposite genders are another.

“Lynch” is such a loaded word.

She probably will be. If they don't include her more it'll be a missed opportunity to do some very interesting things with the sisters. After all, you can never have too many decent sibling relationships, and I'm having trouble thinking of any recent female ones... (Outside of books and things I don't watch or read.)

That said, yes, I adore Ichabod and wouldn't want him to go anywhere. They can all fight crime monsters and shit together.

Me too. I certainly find her more interesting than Katrina. Katrina provides nice exposition and all, but sooner or later we're going to run out of things for her to tell us and will start to need more characters who are capable of doing things in the present day, like Jenny.

I like Ichabod, but I would love more sister interactions. Jenny's moving in with Abbie, so hopefully there will be :)

I'm sort of bugged by the fact that both Abbie and Jenny saw the demon in the woods, but... Ichabod's the other Witness? NOT Jenny? Even though she, ya know, witnessed the same thing they did? How does that even work?
gondremark: (Default)

[personal profile] gondremark 2013-11-17 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
As I understand it, the witnesses are to witness the endtimes (or whatever) as it happens, they're not necessarily people who have witnessed the monsters in the past.

The show isn't too heavy on the lore and the mechanics of the fantasy and all that, it's more like the old monster-a-week format.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-17 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's bugging me too. How the hell is Jenny not a witness?

(Anonymous) 2013-11-17 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I thinking that might turn out to be a twist later. Like they thought the other witness was Ichabod for some reason but it actually ends up being Jenny?

I have feeling that the writers are going to make that plot point a twist. That the sisters are the witnesses and that Ichabod in terms of the Apocalypse is The Lamb. (The soldier that fights against evil.)

[personal profile] lex_antonia 2013-11-18 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
I think there's gonna be a twist, too. There's just something about the whole set-up that raises questions, and it feels entirely deliberate to me.

Here I was hoping there would be a thread so we could talk about this awesome show and its awesome characters.

I want Crane on the show because I ship him and Abbie. After 'The Sin Eater' there is no way I could not ship them. And I friendship him with her sister. I want a scene where they talk about how cool Abbie is and how they really love her and she overhears it.

This show is SO AWESOME.

I adore Ichabod and Abbie together (just friends!) - i love their little back-and-forths over things he doesn't get, i love how they're finding their footing re: fighting the Horseman, i love that Ichabod so obviously admires her....

And her sister, too! And Irving. And ghost!Sheriff needs to make another couple appearances. And it's just *fun* and funny and a little creepy and *pretty*....
Yeah. Awesome. :)

I don't care if Abbie and Crane end up with each other or remain friends, either way they're just adorable together. Especially when Crane gets confused by the modern world and doesn't want to admit it, and Abby's all torn between mocking him and comforting him...

And I love Jenny (though for some reason I'm really bad about remembering her name) and Irving. They're awesome side caracters and I really hope they get more screentime.

I love their relationship a lot!

It's one of my favorite things about the show.

But one of my other favorite things is Ichabod vs the 21st century.

Well last episode Abbie said her sister was getting out of the mental hospital, so I'm expecting to see a lot more of her coming up.

I'd watch it.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-18 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
That would be awesome! Even if they did an episode where Ichabod went hardcore missing, nothing that could be solved as easily as the time his Mason brothers showed up, and the only way that Abbie could puzzle it out would be to enlist the help of her sister.

Same. A lot of people agree. Take out the whole "Sleepy Hollow" part and just make it about 2 sisters fighting Death, literally. Then you don't even need Icabod.
