Re: Writers

(Anonymous) 2013-11-26 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
I have to specifically set aside time or else I'll never actually get around to writing anything. I am easily distracted and a procrastinator, so schedules are best.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-26 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
For real? I haven't written much porn, but everything I have done is completely self-indulgent. I doubt that everyone else is the same, but I imagine there are still others who are writing mostly to their own desires.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-26 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
I couldn't agree more. Also, those little references to imperfections the OP seems to find gratuitous or counterproductive make the characters more real to me -> the scene comes across hotter/more emotionally gripping.

I'm so sick my vagina's running more than my nose, boogers an all.

That "dandelion child" is one of the sweetest things I've ever heard. I'm glad things worked out for you. If I ever get a tattoo it'll be something symbolic as well, and not in color.

Re: OH MY GOD

I didn't say it was the absolute truth, I just mentioned it since it's a real possibility that people usually don't take into account. Also there's a huge, vast difference between being preoccupied with certain things (like babies) and the kind of behaviour that happens with frontal lobe injuries. The latter tends to involve things like public masturbation and telling relative strangers about how one time your Catholic priest touched your cousin Tommy's penis. Kind of the same thing the OP is describing, though again I could be completely wrong.

Don't be grumpy at me. :/

Favorite flavor of cupcake

[personal profile] mekkio 2013-11-26 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
There's a place in the sister city over where I live that sells what looks like the most delicious looking cupcakes. (Gigi's Cupcakes, if you are curious.) I want to try the cookie dough cupcake. (Yes, I know I am five years behind the trend. But, dammit, I like cupcakes.)

I ask you, in general, what's your favorite cupcake flavor? If you like cupcakes, where do you usually get them? A typical grocery store? A mom and pop bakery? A chain coffee house? Or even your own oven because you think you make the best cupcakes? Or someplace else off the wall?

And for non-Americans, I am curious, how big are cupcakes where you are? (Besides the fact, which country are you in?) What is the local baked good/pastry favorite? And why should we drool over them?

Kind of a test run to see how it goes, I'm hoping it will mean people are more likely to discuss fandom things with me than if I was some random anon? I do like being anon too though, so test run! c:

Also to be able to post pictures/links. :D

(Anonymous) 2013-11-26 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Grey and the Doctor were always my personal favorites, but Kai was adorable too. (I was always too impatient and stingy with my pineapples to romance him though.)

I'm curious though - is there anyone here that liked Rick the best? I always found his chicken obsession a little creepy. (Dude was way too thrilled by getting chicken feed that you'd bought from his farm in the first place.)

(Anonymous) 2013-11-26 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah but here's an audience of one whose biggest turnoff is bland perfection.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-26 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, McGann is older than Tennant and Smith - not as old as Hurt, but they could have put some gray in his hair and played that up!

Winter Has Arrived.

1. Any item of very good quality that I can score for free, and/or for a very cheap deal. (Thrift Store 1/2 off days have yielded a couple of pieces I still own.)

2. No.

3. I couldn't think of any reading down through the comments, but then I remembered the "devotee" fetishist of PWD anon who responded to another anon's secret about the topic, and how a couple of us basically tore the poor anon and their supporters apart. This was on LJ, long, looooong before the days of the SJWs. Sometimes I wonder if we went a little too far, or didn't go far enough. Regardless, the idea of being objectified AND infantilized at the same time like that, just terrifies me, and so does the fact that those people are generally viewed as "the good ones/selfless/etc" when they're anything but.

This is all excellent advice. I was going to reply with similar advice but the above anon covered it all already.

Just want to emphasize being specific about what you're looking for in a Beta. And this seems like common sense but I haven't seen it mentioned - make sure you actually say what fandom, pairing, genre, etc your story is when advertising or asking for a beta.

I like cupcakes without icing or that aren't chocolate flavored, everything else is fair game. Muffins are obviously the better cupcake.

I don't get cupcakes all that often, but the last time I had one was this small local one in a college town.

That sounds like the fluffy, cuddly romantic scenes my three (out of five) actively involved RP characters get into with their partners. Especially 'Mir and Nárë (as in, Boromir and a Silmaril).

I like serious and angsty stories as well, but every so often a good dose of fluff is needed.

Vanilla! It makes me sad to hear people talk about how that flavor is boring or whatever.

Depends on my deadline but normally when I feel like it.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-26 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. As much as I liked it as-is, I will forever regret just a bit that they didn't go that way.

I make my own. Nothing special, just basic cupcakes like vanilla or strawberry. I'm boring like that. And I prefer them to be without frosting.

Oh way back when F!S was just a baby and there hadn't been 100 posts yet, around post 60 or something was what I figured out last time I tried to see where I actually started out... My former RL best friend linked me to F!S and I like to think that I got this comm in "the divorce" so to speak.

It's not as prevalent as you want it to be, and comes with other symptoms. Like short-term memory loss, and impaired balance and coordination.

When I started working on my novel every day I ended up establishing a routine of writing roughly between 12:30-4:30, however long it took me to reach my daily word count and if I felt like continuing past that. I don't know if I'll have a similar routine for the next one or if that'll change. Before I got serious, I wrote when the mood struck, which was more often in the evening and at night.

You've been an anon that long? I did not know that when we last spoke. Makes your decision a bit bigger.
