So calling a person "pathetic" for being upset by that kind of thing. I can understand telling them to take a break from the internet, but maybe not putting them down.

Yeah, I'm gonna stand by jaybie_jarret here. If I was fic-ripped about 5-6 years ago, I would've been crushed and quit the fandom instead of getting tougher skin.

So someone admits to being sensitive to others mocking them and you decide the best choice is to leave a comment insulting and mocking them? Why couldn't you have just not commented at all?

This is exactly why so many people complain about you. And the "oh it's just noodles!" reaction is such bullshit. I've seen regulars rip into anons or non-regular members for comments like this but for some reason always defend you and I'm sick of it. I've never replied to you and usually ignore your comments but I really wish you'd just go away. You are not funny, you are an insulting little troll and the community would be better off without you. Go back to 4chan or reddit or wherever.

The reasons people defend him, from what I can tell, are:

a) they've seen the part of him that isn't just a troll;
b) his troll posts are incredibly tame (yup, even this one!). We've had trolls here who are far worse and far less sensitive (I mean, shit, we had one troll who was telling someone that she was too mentally ill to ever be able to trust herself in social situations, and that she should therefore cut ties. And they were framing it as concern).
c) a lot of us are actually not very good people.

To expand on c: think about it. Think about the way people react to things on this site. Think about the things that people have said. We all act like it's okay because it's not "trolling." But many of us have said absolutely terrible things to people, things that make people not even want to post here, and it's all brushed aside. Compared to what many say in sincerity, what insanenoodlyguy posts in jest is nothing.

So, at the end of the day, why do I personally not mind him? Because I know he's not being genuine. I'm far more concerned with the behavior of people like iceyred, who are being sincere in their dickishness and contempt, then I am about the behavior of an admitted troll.
