She-Hulk <3

Oh, and Loki: Agent of Asgard.

I can't really buy a consciously good or evil superbeing... possibly an inebriated one.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-19 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Go back to your church.

I have no problem with someone saying that they believe that this question is irresolvable and that the most reasonable answer is that God does not exist.

I don't think OP's comment was that. It reads to me as "God's Not Real! You're dumb for having this issue because God's Not Real but you're too blinded or stupid to realize that." And that's a difficult thing. Sorry if I'm reading something into it that's not there, but that's what annoys me about it.

Genetic diseases, marsupials that breed until they die, anglerfish mating...
waterfall8484: The Chibi Tenth Doctor falling over with a "Meep!". (Tipsy chibi by jesidres and ivydoor)

This looks like a show I could watch. Is it subbed, by any chance?

(Anonymous) 2014-04-19 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
What...

No disrespect to any atheist, because atheism is not even the tiniest fraction of what makes this comment so horrifying, but...wow. Seriously? This...this is the way you think? You live like this? Day to day? And I've been talking to you this whole time, wondering why you always seemed just a little bit creepy but liking you so much anyway and thinking how strong you must be to have the job you say you have?

I...I really have no idea what to say, but I'm pretty sure I can't ever say anything to you again without this comment in mind and...I can't.... :(

I may have to write a story based on this.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-19 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
+1 to both parts.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-19 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
That sucks, OP.

...Wow, timezones get weird in places.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-19 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
There is no one single definition of being a good Christian, so your comment is ridiculous, but my minister teaches it very much in the spirit of the ayrt's comment. Have you ever been in a church? A good church?

I mean, they are both screaming, "LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!" but at least Miley Cyrus is succeeding. Hell, Lady Gaga looks more desperate to me. Especially now that no one cares about her, so she keeps wearing idiotic edgy/"artsy" crap.

Yes, you're reading too much. It's not about calling the other person dumb or stupid, it's just that they are deciding to ignore the facts that contradict their beliefs cause they want to continue believing. Nothing wrong with that, most people do it all the time, and not only with religion. It's like when you read something not so good about a celebrity you like.

I thought the anon was making fun of the comment they were replying to, because it sounds like the typical 'enlightened athiest'

(Anonymous) 2014-04-19 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Pretty much all Image comics are not about superheroes.

I do wish she'd learn some oral hygiene. Her tongue in that picture is just disgusting.

I'm not sure that's how it works. I've seen plenty of "good" Christians who accept that they are unable to answer this question, either because they do not consider their own experiences to be sufficient (e.g. not painful enough) or because they think the answer should be a matter of personal decision.

Your criterion only serves to distinguish between the Christians with a - how shall I put it? - scholastic streak and those without it.

This being said, doubts obviously do not make anyone a "bad Christian". Although I cannot say that I have ever actually understood how religious people combine having faith with having doubts (eh, my problem, I suppose).

(Anonymous) 2014-04-19 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
That's why it's called faith. Sure, it could be that there is no god and no purpose for why things happen, and that Earth is just one of an unfathomable amount of other planets moving through an unfathomable amount of space, and that your god is among thousands humans have created over the years. Whichever.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-19 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't understand why you're so horrified. They feel that it is impossible to reconcile bad things happening with an omniscient omnipotent benevolent being, and are bitter about attempts to do so.

I like teenage superheroes exactly for these reasons. When they make mistakes they don't look like morons, they look young and inexperienced.

And I like the implication that some teenagers AREN'T self centered nihilists, and that they can be smart and helpful, too.

*eyeroll* false equivalency

(Anonymous) 2014-04-19 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude, they don't promote characters at all. If you are not someone who into comic books, you are not going to hear about any of this. The general population doesn't care about any Marvel characters that are not in a movie.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-19 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
We don't need your patronizing attitude here.
