You weren't a Quiller, were you?

I never cared that much whether or not other people shipped Harry/Hermione, even as a Ron/Hermione person myself. But I never got the actual ship - Hermione always, in my eyes, treated Harry like a brother so it just never worked for me.

Well I guess they are canon OP. I always feel Harry and Hermione are like Luke and Leia. Ron is Han Solo. Sort of wrong to ship the twins :)

I've never been much of a shipper, and I still her annoyed over people devaluing some canon ships.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-24 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Honestly, I always shipped Ron and Hermione in the books.

The films made me like Harry and Hermione too though.

It's fine with me as long as I can stay away from the crazies and the Ron-bashing. I don't care if they bash him, I'd just rather not take part personally since I do like Ron.

I'm not that invested in it though -- I don't care what others ship. I actually read a weirdly compelling Voldemort/Luna fic once even though I don't really ship it. A skillful author can make almost anything work.

If people want to write pro or anti essays, I don't care. It doesn't change what's in the book or what I see onscreen. And sometimes I'll agree with them. Sometimes I won't. No biggie.

any romione recs, btw? I tried to look for huge developled canon-ish fics a few months ago and ao3 really disappointed me

LOL. I have never been an obsessive shipper of anything, ever, and in HP, I was always more interested in the general plot/character development/Harry himself/what was going to happen in the 7th book/who was going to die/what were the answers to all the mysteries than in something like endgame ships, but I'd be lying if I don't have just a tiny bit of this still going on.

This might be more a case of "can't like what you've never seen", though. I have read a couple of post-DH Harry/Hermione fics that were satisfying to me because they made sure to really show that Ron and Hermione still had a really great friendship and give them character development that made them not being a couple made sense in that fic, but even in those fics, the Harry/Hermione romance part still felt impossibly boring.

I've never yet seen Harry/Hermione done at all convincingly unless it was part of an OT3 -- and, by the way, I say this as a challenge for people to rec me a Harry/Hermione fic that will change my mind, not as a justification for me persisting in my own opinions about the ship. I like nothing more than for people to open my mind to more possibilities in fandom.

I honestly don't get this. People ship what they want and dislike what they want. But "wrong" is only something I'd use for things like incest, teacher/student, or death eater/muggle born shipping. Things which I may or may not actually ship but have some aspect that would be wrong in the real world. I mean, I really don't like Ron/Hermione at all, but I wouldn't say it is "wrong" to ship it. Or, if you want a non-canon example, I really don't like Remus/Sirius at all and I don't even really get the ship, but I still wouldn't call it "wrong".

Well, OP, I think YOU'RE wrong. but whatevs. I just wasn't/am not much of a Ron fan, even with his strengths.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-24 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I think we all know, deep down, that it should have been Harry and Ron together in the end.

I feel the same way.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-24 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I like both. /shrug

Granted, I'm totally into fictional incest, so the brother/sister vibes off H/Hr just made it better for me. I'm also down with Harry/Ron, and the three of them together in one relationship.

Idk, I don't get visceral reactions to shipping, it's really not that big a deal. Even in the case of my hardline OTPs, I really...don't care if people ship other things too? It doesn't change the nature of the ship I love or change my opinion on it.

I am partial to Ron/Hermione but I'm also interested in reading Harmony fic just to see how people interpret their relationship shift if it ever turned romantic. I think it'd be an interesting exploration. What I don't miss are the crazy ship wars and thank God those are mostly over.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-24 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't have any opinion on HP shipping, but this picture makes me sad, remembering when they were tiny and adorable and knowing how much sadness and struggle they still have to go through. I don't care who ends up with whom, but I am really invested in post-DH healing for everyone :(

(Anonymous) 2014-08-24 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I have this two and I never even shipped it. But I that with me it has more to do with the fact that harry and hermione where so much closer in the movies then in the books. I always sort of vaguely assume that they take more from the movie interpretation of the trios character. Which I hate. I mean was there any good reason to give herminone all of rons good lines. She was awesome enough on her own without making it seem like she was doing all the work for everyone.

I can only validate you, 'cause I feel the exact same way.

I feel that way too over certain fandoms. It's just, you spent so much of your time invested in it that there's still a little part in your heart that is reserved for that pairing. (I feel that way about Edge/Rydia from Final Fantasy IV. Everytime I see a Kain/Rydia fic, I just inwardly scream to myself "Nooo that is wrong!"

haha, I kinda understand that kneejerk response, though I don't voice it that way to other people (imo, it's the voicing that's the problem, and it doesn't sound like you're doing that).

And yeah, I absolutely ship Ron/Hermione and Harry/Hermione is very IDGI for me. It just reads as super platonic. (And I like their friendship quite a lot as it is, too.)

(Anonymous) 2014-08-25 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
R/Hr is (and I think it'll always be) my #1 ship, strictly going by the books. They were turned into a mess in the movies which still stings, but I guess it's win-win because we've got the books, H/Hr shippers can have the movies.

And honestly, I've seen a lot of tropes and fan interpretations that really turned me off of the pairing (beautiful perfect Hermione/bland worshipful action hero Harry, Weasley bashing galore) and I never considered H/Hr since Book 1, but if shippers like H/Hr and leave the Weasleys alone, it's not hurting me, so ship and let ship.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-25 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
I'm definitely not involved in the fandom but I quite prefer Harry/Hermione. I'm really not keen on Ron/Hermione.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-25 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Harry/Hermione gave off such a brother/sister vibe that I knew they would never be a couple.

It ALWAYS bothers me when people view platonic relationship like that as romantic, but then again most of them might not have any siblings so any close relationship of the opposite sex automatically seems romantic to them.

Why can't a guy and girl just be good friends?
