13. Any mention of Psychonauts gets an obligatory FUCK YES.

25. I remember those books! Weren't they pretty much a schill to sell dolls in the first place? Eh, I liked them anyway.

32. To be fair, Kefka is better than anybody.

46. Apparently, you're not alone. (http://www.smartbitchestrashybooks.com)

[identity profile] narishun-kun.livejournal.com 2007-12-11 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
15. Oh wow, this brings back memories! I actually felt so dirty for an entire week after reading that dj.

42 & Notsecret2

[identity profile] alexander.livejournal.com 2007-12-11 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
n!s 2 - who liked it? I liked it :o

42 - I'm not gonna comment to the first part, but have you tried adding another RP? Just so you get different perspective. Sometimes multiple RPs keep things fresh ♥

[identity profile] speccygeekgrrl.livejournal.com 2007-12-11 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
9. The internet is for porn trolls. Good on you for not feeding into the flames.

10. OT3s and OT4s are my not-so-secret love. And most people give me the weirdness whenever I reveal that.

18. Leave the fandom. I did, and I've never been happier as a Supernatural fan since the only discussion I've had about it is between my roommate and I while we watch. :)

22. What's the difference between "too obvious" and "supported by canon"...?

25. I read every single one of those books put out until I was fourteen. I'm 22 now and strongly considering selling Felicity and Molly because I have no room for dolls. :(

20, 39. Get counseling. Like, now. Before you go shoot up a mall or something.

[identity profile] threepwillow.livejournal.com 2007-12-11 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
5: Every time I see a secret about a badly-written Rukia in fanfiction, I become paranoid that it's my really good friend, whom I love but whose fanfiction is mediocre at best. D:

8: BRB STALKING. Oh Sasha Nein, you ambiguously homosexual German psychic dreamboat. T^T b

13: TWO Psychonauts secrets? This pleases me.

37: If you're straight for Yoruichi, I'm gay for her. Dayum.

OP 37

(Anonymous) 2007-12-11 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
I've actually heard that a lot from straight women. Other gay men...not so much.

[identity profile] merriman.livejournal.com 2007-12-11 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
12. Haha, BMC! Awesome reason.

8. & 13. Psychonauts! My husband's playing that right now!

[identity profile] mysticnocturne.livejournal.com 2007-12-11 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Out of pure curiosity, given the fanart you used, does it make me a good fan or a bad fan if I ship Light/L? I'm betting it makes me a bad one, but you never know.

7's OP

(Anonymous) 2007-12-11 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, I specifically used fanart for a pairing from a fandom I don't care about or have much opinion about at all. So, um, I don't know what it makes you.

[identity profile] ritalion.livejournal.com 2007-12-11 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
9. I don't get fandom's obsession with sexuality. Characters are one thing, but real people? Let people be what they want and stop being so considered with whether or not they're 'lying.'

And of course people are going to get defencive. People get defencive about race and religion and things like that, so why not sexuality?

20. Wow you're a loser.

[identity profile] fyretoppaaa.livejournal.com 2007-12-11 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
LATE LATE LATE

*sigh* XD

4. So many Vegeta/Bulma sekrits lately. ♥ :o

14. Poor Jack. XDD

16. LOL. Personally, I don't actually find Lockon that hot BUT FOR SOME REASON TIERIA MAKES ME GLEE LIKE NO OTHER EYECANDY EVER WILL, but to each their own. ;DD I will agree that we've got a very pretty cast, though.

19. AHAHAHA. ☆ I'unno why that's funny, but it is! XD In a not-bad way!

29. I really haven't seen outright bashing. I've seen what looked like it--but I can also understand where the people who are skeptical, at least, of these female characters are coming from. They might be doing more than a number of their male counterparts, but the fact remains the there is, as always, a slight imbalance between the number of male and female characters, as far as I can tell...

And I think part of the issue is that they either a) aren't contributing anything significant to the plot whatsoever (Louise--and Sanji Saji, but yes), or b) contribute to the plot, but in a TOTALLY ILLOGICAL MANNER (Marina, I'm looking at YOU. Sunrise better have a DAMN GOOD EXPLANATION for that, although 'Setsuna is a fucking idiot' might appease me for a bit. Also, without TONS more development, I don't want to see Marina/Setsuna. EVER.).

I haven't seen ANYTHING bad said about the other girl characters, besides possibly bitching about Liu Mei's sitting pretty (but at least she does moar than Alejandro, etc. etc.), and [livejournal.com profile] kaigou's dissection of Sumeragi, but that was a logical argument backed up by canon evidence.

I also need to say this: misogyny is a Big Bad Fandom Thing, but I'm getting really, REALLY tired of how label-happy people are with that. If you say something negative about a female character, even if it's your honest opinion, you run the risk of being shouted out of the discussion as a 'yaoi fanbrat'. So, are we slash fans allowed to yell at everyone wishing Tieria was a girl as 'het fanbrats' now? :|

O [livejournal.com profile] fandomsecrets, why do you always drive me to tl;dr? ;;

Thank you very much for saying that, I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who feels this way. I just wish I could have said it as eloquently as you -- or, y'know, at least without losing my tempter -_-;

I've always been fascinated by how I've seen some poly arguments here in the past and yet, the people against poly who are in it... are always posting anonymously. It begins to look as though people are afraid of their own moderators or fellow players.

That's not the sort of relationship I have with the players in the games I'm in, and especially not the mods. If I have something to say to them that's a complaint about the game, I tell them - discreetly, but I do tell them with my name attached. If I were to complain anonymously, they'd probably freak the fuck out and wonder why I couldn't trust them anymore.

tl;dr Even in a bigger game, people need to feel that the moderators will respect them for what they have to say, and that they won't have to give their .02 without their name attached. If they feel strongly enough to bitch, then they should feel safe enough to say it clearly.

Wow, maybe I shouldn't even add my own opinion on this but...

The mods are just proving the secret to be right.

Might I advise, instead of going, "THERE'S NO PROBLEM" over and over, and getting players involved in what SHOULD be the mod's fight, to do what [livejournal.com profile] ruxis is doing, instead of making a further fool of yourselves?

Re: 42

(Anonymous) 2007-12-11 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
But the mods are proud of taking two weeks. It's a hard job, and they're too busy to mod what they said they would. And can you blame them for refusing to give up their power when they can no longer fulfill the responsibilities it entails?

Why would they change that which they don't see a problem with?

I still have my dolls somewhere...

Just adding my small two cents on the Poly situation: Go to [livejournal.com profile] polychromatic, and complain there, in a logical fashion, if you can. You won't even have to go unanon for it.

Also please note that Poly is a HUGE game, long-running, complex, with some deep-rooted logistical problems due to mod turnover and sheer size. You aren't going to get these changes you're demanding TOMORROW, so in the meantime, say your piece, get to the point, and WAIT instead of creating further wank, please.

In regards to cliques, that happens in any RPG, as has already been said. I've played obscure characters at Poly before (my first character was Kimimaro from Naruto, to give some idea; I've also done Harao from ES21 back before there was an ES21 crew), and all that was needed to get them up and about in the city was sheer WORK. Getting them to comment, logging (admittedly, it is a lot of work and I'm lazy XDD), IM'ing other players I want to interact with... It's down to you, the player, to make yourself heard. There are cliques? Get yourself into them, or bring a friend or two to play with and make your own. There will always be cliques in RP; it's a fact of life, so make some lemonade with those lemons.

... I could've sworn that was meant to be a small response. >:\\

Pairings that one likes DOES NOT REFLECT ON THEIR SEXUALITY. I happen to be very much a lesbian.. however I like heterosexual couples. Clow/Yuuko make me wibble, so does Virgil/Febronia from Xenosaga. DOES THAT MAKE ME STRAIGHT? No. Does that mean that I'm lusting after Febronia. Not necessarily. I like the dynamics, it's like reading a good book... you feel for the characters and your gender or preference does not have to come into play AT ALL.

My fandom secret would be "Nothing has ever been as true to the way I feel about my sister as Simon's relationship with River. Therefore, Tamcest makes me secretly want to burn down the whole internet."

But that's why they invented the back button! go forth and be scary.

(p.s. I still secretly hope that my sister will turn out to have superpowers, instead of just The Crazy.)

[identity profile] mechanicaljewel.livejournal.com 2007-12-11 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
25. OMG, I totally know what you mean. I have Molly and Addy, my sister has Felicity and Kirsten, and I was saving up to buy Samantha (yes, I bought them myself) but then we moved and I sort of forgot about it. But I love those books so hard, and I really wish that they were using all this movie-ness they've been doing to sell the books, because those books are the only reason I bought the dolls. (Side note, to this day, I am still a huge Civil War, Victorian, and WWII geek)

47. Did he really? When/where?

(Anonymous) 2007-12-11 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
...Have you people seriously never been in a game that takes more than a day for application turnaround? Jesus. A week or two is usually the norm for huge games, especially if multiple applications come in at once. I know of one game which warns you that it may take A MONTH to recieve an acceptance or rejected letter, for the simple fact that they get so many applications in such a short span of time. It's impossible to blaze through them all and keep a certain quality of players in the game.

Learn to fucking be patient, or find another game that can reply to you in three hours.

For the record, I'm not in Poly, I never have been, I've never felt the desire to apply there, and I'm sure I never will.

WHERE DID YOU GET THE ANIME?! I wanna watch it soooooo badly ;_; Not to mention how much I'd like to read the manga in a language I actually understood, urgh.

21 OP

(Anonymous) 2007-12-11 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
Believe it or not, a small anime/manga store in a very big mall. It had a huge wall of bootlegged VHS tapes. Dororo was one of them. But only the second season/series. I'll take what I can. Have hope, though! The manga is going to be out in English come April. And yes, I pre-ordered it, because I'm that bad.

[identity profile] wao.livejournal.com 2007-12-11 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
41 - It's not entirely male!...

But well, it is mostly male I suppose. :( I swear there's many more female fans out there, but maybe because it's so long-running and not-very-quickly-released there isn't much impetus or excitement for people to create fics and whatnot. :(

Yeah, and in a number of places if you go create fics that aren't VERY good at handling relationships people will bash you for being a soppy fangirl who's only looking at love or someshit like that :/

24. I don't recognize either scene... do I want to know?

29. ...what. What. I... What? Okay, I don't like Louise or Christina much, because they're both a type of Genki Girl I don't like (omgclothes!!11) but... but? I like Marina! And what the fuck people are bashing Sumeragi? Sumeragi? Really? But... but she's Sumeragi!

47. ... Joss intended the subtext? Really? O_o

(Anonymous) 2007-12-11 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
29. Sumeragi's useless apparently because she, oh I don't know, makes mistakes with her strategies. As for Marina, from some of the excuses here (http://users.livejournal.com/_faded_fallen/22097.html), she gets in the way of Graham/Setsuna. Yeah, really valid, huh?

[identity profile] siriuslynow.livejournal.com 2007-12-11 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
9. - Well, I like het, I like yaoi and I like yuri. Could you guess what sexuality I am?

No, because what you read =/= what you are or enjoy in real life.

(I think the whole "not discussing anybody's sexuality online" is a good way to live. XD)

2O - LOL. You're so badass. Only, really you're not. :/

21. - I understand what you're complaining about, or at least I think I do. I hate it when fans just dismiss everything bad and horrible that character's done on his/her "Daddy-issues!!1!1!11" or excuse him because he's just "soooo kewl and kakoii!1!"

But, um what? I'm sorry, but watching your brother kill your parents and becoming seriously messed up isn't exactly the definition of the word "emo". Nor is it considered "emo" when you're banished from your home by your own father.

I understand if you don't find those characters particularly interesting. If you find characters who face their problems positively and with courage then that's great, really. But for some people, liking characters who do the wrong things and who can't face their problems isn't just because they are "super cool!" (hell, I doubt I would like Sasuke as much as I do if he had made the morally "right" decisions, I find it more human and far more interesting.)

[identity profile] dorknessrising.livejournal.com 2007-12-11 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
Word. At least in Zuko's case, he's more angry than sad. Constantly angry, and with good reason. The only time he was ever close to "emo" was the beginning of Season 3.

I usually find the characters who have been through hell and back without stumbling to be flat, boring, and unrealistic, and often smack of Mary/Gary Sue. Especially the younger ones. Seeing the character's past shape their psyche and explain -- not excuse -- why they do what they do is the fun part.

This is, of course, assuming the character does eventually get over himself and make the right decision. But at least for me, that's a dish best served cold. Seeing them trip and stumble and make mistakes while dealing with their issues makes the moment they finally do it right far more effective than if they'd done so from the beginning.

It's called conflict.
