I think the point is that the man doesn't think about the woman at all. he lives in a world where women are conditioned to move aside for him so he never has to think about what would happen if the woman didn't move.

I dunno. He seems like a decent guy, all in all - but given the nature of his work - he lies and keep things secret. I wouldn't want a father who hides big things from me (which is ironic, as it's exactly what I got in real life, but I wouldn't have chosen it).

I do fail to explain things adequately very often. The Idea is that when walking down a street, men are inclined to slam into women rather than move aside to let them passed, and women are more inclined in the other direction
