they're rude to waiters, customer service people, secretaries, tech support staff, or anyone who is just trying to do their job.

Especially if they bring up their own job/finances/education like it makes them somehow deserving of more respect as a person.

They are assholes needlessly or just because they can

They think that "I'm on the internet" or any variation therof is an excuse for shitty behavior they wouldn't pull in real life

they believe that you should never write a particular trope or whatever because someone pulled it off badly

(the first two because I'm annoyed by jerks and the last one is just because its a stupidly limiting attitude.)

They judge other people too much.

No but really, sometimes I think people need to learn to mind their own business and stop thinking they are morally superior over really petty things.

I also think it's not a bad practice to try to live in other people's shoes sometimes and give them the benefit of the doubt.

If they're prescriptivists.

If they rant about tipping without talking about wages for waitstaff, but usually, if they rant about tipping.

If they give bad medical advice, especially if it could potentially cause serious illness or injury. (I live in a very hippy-dippy town, so I've had my fair share of run-ins with homeopaths, quantum mystics, and even the odd raw milk devotee. I guess acupuncture could count, too, but it's not actively harmful like raw milk.)

people who insist they're just upper middle class

They always talk badly about other people behind their backs.

I don't mean atheists who say "Oh, thanks, but I don't believe in God" when you mention you'll pray for them during a hard time.

Those are cool atheists.

The atheists I'm talking about are the ones who leave comments on Christian youtube videos saying things like "God isn't real!" and "You're deluding yourselves and you're morons!" or, worse, if the video contains a relative who is deceased, they say things like, "There's no Heaven. He/She/They died and you'll never talk to them again."

Those are the atheists I can't stand.

My grandpa used to say people don't get loud and defensive about something unless they're not sure they believe it. He was the type of guy who looked at someone saying "God ain't real!" and kept walking. He didn't have to defend his Christianity. He was a devout, good man.

Now, to be fair, religious people who shove faith at atheists who don't want it are just as rude. The problem does run both ways.

Mean humor. Sorry, but if you can only find things funny by ripping down other people then I'm perfectly happy to judge the hell out of you.

I judge parents who think being good to their children makes them good, selfless people regardless of how shitty and selfish they are to everyone else, especially if they are shitty to other people's kids.

they judge other people by what they ship.

They get angry about my beliefs and opinions.

They don't believe in global warming.

They agree with Harper selling off our water. For the next 30 years. *For the economy.*

They think their way of doing things makes them somehow superior to others who do things differently (looking at you, friend who thinks just because you don't generally 'get' shipping it means you have some sort of deeper, better understanding of the canon. Hint: People are able to ship AND talk "deep and meaningful" meta and you are not some sort of superior sage just because you don't get that.).
