TBH, I'm just really worried about the inclusion of Melissa McCarthy. Her humor just doesn't really work for me, and I'm afraid it will ruin the rest of the movie (again, for me, humor is subjective, etc. etc. etc.).

What? Awesome reviews don't mean everyone has to like her kind of humour. She usually plays pretty same-ish characters, so you either like her or you don't. What a weird thing to say, tbh.

(I think she's funny, though, and I'm excited for this movie. I'll never see Spy, though.)

If she plays a Stantz-type character (like I think she will), I think she'll actually be pretty okay. I don't like her gross-out humor, either, but she can play straight humor, too.

I haven't been following this very closely. Do we know if this movie is about the new characters starting their own Ghostbusters franchise or is it a reboot of the original movie?

Basically a reboot, the originals don't exist in the new film.

I wish it was gender switches rather than completely new characters (though, it would probably be kind of impossible to recast a Bill Murray character whether it was a guy or not). I heard that some of the script leaked and people thought some of the details sounded...uninspired, but I really hope they're wrong.

Actually: Story details are unknown other than the reboot centers on the next generation of Ghostbusters, who happen to be female. Ivan Reitman will produce the action-comedy.

It's the same 'verse, just the future. I haven't seen if any of the original guys will be in it or not, though Dan Akroyd is also involved.

Is it wrong that I'm totally cracking up at the thought of Chris Hemsworth as Janine? Like, are they really going to keep him behind a desk the whole time? That would be just awesome (probably for him as an actor, too, not having to green screen anything).

I don't see that working tho. Janine was hot for Egon, but he just had no clue.

I don't think any woman is going to look at Chris Hemsworth as anything other than man-candy, The ghost-buster / secretary dynamic only worked because egon didn't see Janine as a sexual object, where as the only way anyone will see Hemsworth is as a sexual object. The dynamic is going to be off. Plus if Hemsworth is as sexually aggressive as Janine was to an unreciprocating ghost-buster it will be VERY rapey.

I love Hemsworth, but yes, I think it would be great.

Actually, I think this whole "lol muscle guy as secretary" is just the sort of durrhurrhurr humour that makes me not want to watch it because that's often all current comedies are capable of.

I didnt realize until this secret that thw thing my long delayed post on this movie needs is pasted-head Ghostbusters. I guess I know how I'll be spending my free time.

Also, I was skeptical but now I'm kind of excited for it.

I'm worried about Paul Feig, tbh. I thought Bridesmaids had a very funny cast (Kirsten Wiig Maya Rudolph wooo), but wasn't a great comedy overall. So I basically like all the actresses in this (and Hemsworth lol), but I'm not sure if I really like this guy's comic sensibility. Idk.

Tbh this movie is probably going to be awful and unfunny and I'm going to hate it if I even bother seeing it all. Modern comedies are terrible.
