58- Because you have a brain and don't need things to smack you in the face to realize they're there. I mean come on, I've never comment on any "fatherly" figure about their "flawless body", and would hopefully never be refered to as their consort.

22. I see what you mean, but IMHO Light's really much more pathetic than tragic. His hubris isn't anything really special--he could be the twin of hundreds of other dumb arrogant kids right out of high school. Even his character design's weirdly generic--he's handsome, intelligent, and successful, yes, but he's also such an everyman it hurts--his schooling, his family, everything about him--he's exceptional only in quantity and not in quality. And then the show/the manga take such great delight in making him look like a delusional lunatic or an idiot at every opportunity. The dramatic potato chip eating? The silly slapstick routines with Ryuk, the crazy AAAAIIIIIIRRRRR faces? There's a reason he's a silly 4chan meme--Light's too laughable to be tragic, and I think it's entirely intentional on the part of the author, artist, and animators.

Light finally dies pitifully begging for his life, a very un-heroic (or tragic-heroic) death. He even draws no larger lesson from his own fate, there's no classic moment of anagnorisis or realization. It doesn't once occur to him to question the fear and death that he himself had already inflicted on so many others, even if only to then assert proudly to the end that he absolutely was right to do as he did. No, he goes down about as mindlessly terrified as an animal, all his crazy rhetoric and rationalizations gone, pleading pathetically right up until the last moment. (In the manga, at least.)

I guess I've always seen the 'point' of Death Note (above all else) to be the arbitrary meaninglessness of life and the cold inhumanity of the universe. Good and evil and brilliant and stupid men and all their grandiose plans and sincere moral beliefs all come to the same end. There's no real place for grand tragedy in a universe like that--it's an existential wasteland in the face of which everything is equally trivial.

12 - I can see where people get that from, really. But I was watching Terra Firma the other day, when Sikozu went back through the wormhole to Scorpy, and he grabbed her neck. And I was like "omg, just tie her up and fuck her already". But I mean, it's canon, but I was still like "OH GOD, I'm thinking that about /Scorpy/??"

I had no real problem with her at first. She was young, she'd had an Education. A lot of things (and glaring mistakes) can be explained by that.

But then all that shit happened to her. For which i sympathize because, hell. She went throught that without slitting her throat. She was building some character!

And then she was offered an out (as far as she knew), and her reaction? "*whinewhinewhine* but why can't I pretend to be a pureblood instead of an illegitimate child *whinewhine*" That one conversation made me despise her. After everything that happened to her, she still acted like she'd learned nothing.

That said, it's not active enough to make me want to take a rusty spork to her throat or anything. >_>

15. FUCK YEAH...!! Legend of Legaia is one of the most amazing games ever. The battle system, it is AMAZING. Ahhh. One of the first PS1 games I ever and beat :D

29. I love this pairing, too. It's one of the few shippings I support stubbornly and without waver. However, I don't read the manga, so I don't know what's been happening on that side of the series. I don't believe it's healthy for Tamaki to think of Haruhi as his daughter. They are almost the same age, and maybe, deep down, Tamaki is just trying to somehow satisfy his want for a stable, happy family (I don't think he even lives in the same house as his father!). If they ARE in fact getting together in the manga, I hope it's handled well :)

I write and read RPS [had some written about me as a present, which I rather liked] but to be linked stuff about yourself/your family that you don't want to read-! Yeah. Pretty nasty.

He is a tragic character, the memory loss section (at least to me) proves it.

He was seduced by the power of the death note and therein lies his tragedy, otherwise he'd have been a very good man. After he'd gotten out of school and gotten over his boredom, he'd have been just as wonderful a man as his father ... and that makes me sad.

Hes more complex than people give him credit for.

Agreeing with what pretty much everyone else has said. If I were the player of the character being praised, I'd be horrified to be praised at the cost of others being insulted so much.

And double-agreeing with

risen's comment: Kadaj and his brothers don't have much in the way of character. Who's to say that any of the three can't be taken in several different directions? I've seen a lot of Kadaj's played in various RP's, and lots that were very, very different, but he's a hard one to peg as "ooc".

(For the record, Kadaj shunning Jenova is very, very easy to play out if one takes the jealousy-over-Sephiroth route. In the case of one of the Kadaj's you mentioned, he no longer remembers Jenova because the memory was removed.

Pay more attention to their backstories in the RPs to see what the hell got them to where they are now.)
