42: Glad I'm not the only one. It's a shame he died, I give my condolences to his family , blah blah blah. But for god's sake, I'm so tired of hearing about it. And it's fucking everywhere. Then again I'm a pretty apathetic bastard with things like this, because seriously. How many other thousands of people died on that day? Humans are mortal. Dieing is what we do. His only seems to matter because he can act.

46: You fail at trolling.

Too big 7: Rp is srs bzn.

[identity profile] pleione.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
24. Yeah she is awesome. ♥

36. Exactly! I don't get it. It's like everyone would rather fandoms be nothing but about men.

49. That's cute. lol

42 - Yeah, I know how you feel. I hope I don't get chewed out for this, either...

26. Don't know them or that RP they're from but after stalking reading some of their entries just now, I gotta agree. Although you know you could be a little nicer about it. Idk, just saying. *shrug*

35. Dude, it's a kids' show. It's not supposed to be taken seriously (though yeah, wth was with Prime's characterisation?).

46. You know he's not real, right?

47. I'd totally read that! (I was the same way.) Actually... that'd be wicked fun... please write it XD

TB6. Yeah. It's definitely the children's books that are ruining your life. Not, you know, the fact that you blame children's books for all your problems. (Seriously. I grew up on them, and I'm just fine and dandy. I think the problem might just be your own.)

[identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
28. I don't think either one of them are gay, either, but I adore the fact that you used quite possibly the twinkiest photo he's ever taken. :)

26.

[identity profile] regeneration.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Fuck you. RPers are not your performing monkeys. Just because you want to praise an RPer does not mean you have to systematically slag off and make fun of other players of the same character. I mean, god forbid someone ever did something a little differently from your ideal.

Re: 26.

[identity profile] skittled.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed.

[identity profile] moebot.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
36. Word. There are just so many different types of female characters out there that hating them all seems really bizarre. Your examples are excellently chosen. Mitsuru? One of my favourite PRG characters of all time. I found the Zero girls arc in Loveless to be the highpoint of anime and the manga. Everyone else on there is equally amazing, and are some of my favourite parts of their individual series.

51. I agree. One of the reason I love the games so much is that everything is so ridiculous. That's what makes the characters and the plot endearing!

This secret made me smile ^_^.

It never crossed my mind to ship these two but I think can understand why you like them. I´m definitely looking for fanfics regarding this movie.

It´s okay, don´t feel bad about you OTP. Makes sense to me.

*snicker*

Awww, poor baby. Someone hasn't quite figured out that books and movies are two different media. I loved the movie. And I loved the book long before the movie ever got announced. The movie is not the book, and really, it shouldn't be. As a movie, it's pretty darn fantastic. As an interpretation of the book, it's equally good, and almost all the changes you whinged about are necessary changes to make the overall story carry over better without having to spend forever explaining. Without prose and without taking a good deal longer to explain it, the average person watching the movie would not get that "hey, Dunstan loved someone else but got fairy-spelled and had baby-sex and then went and courted and married the other girl and had a kid and it's all right!"

That's one more complication the plot didn't need. As for the other stuff...eh. Movie. Not exactly a horrible HOW DARE THEY?!? change, really.

I only had two complaints about the movie:
1) I think the conflict should've ended at the Wall with the witch realizing Yvainne's heart wasn't her own just because all the different plotlines were getting to be a bit tiresome for some people who hadn't read the book (my family). But then, a big, spectacular fight-scene-type ending was almost required.

2) I wish Lady Una had been the not-at-all-pleasant-or-nice character she was in the book. But then I have to acknowledge that the average movie-goer will think "Why the heck should I like or care about this haughty jerk of a character? Is she supposed to be a good-guy?" if presented with a character like book!Una in the short ammount of time a movie would've given it.

I agree with Douglas Adams--why do something the same way twice? The movie was true to the spirit of the book, even if it different in a lot of other places. It was still a good, fun, adventure.

Re: Not!secret 1

[identity profile] imaginihs-02.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
I completely agree. I actually enjoyed the movie quite a lot more than the book, but the only way to enjoy it is to back off and let it be a different experience.

[identity profile] sita-face.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
16. Well, there are other interpretations of vampires. I rather like Tanya Huff's view on Henry: being "alive" as long as he has hasn't really changed him. He's still arrogant and thinks everyone should basically worship the ground he walks on. He just has a better reason to think so now. Keep in mind, I'm speaking from the POV of someone who knows and likes the book series much better than the TV series.

52. FUCK YEAH, ANITA. I was Anita for Halloween. But, isn't there a way to, you know, lie about your age? I was writing smut when I was 15. If you've got the talent and the drive, I don't see why you can't. Rock that shit, friend.

Re: 16, 52

(Anonymous) 2008-01-27 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
I really, really hope you were going as Anita pre-NiC, because I somehow think that a giant vagina costume wouldn't go over very well with the parents of any passing trick-or-treaters.

But you definitely aren't alone!

(Anonymous) 2008-01-27 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
I used to like her, too. But augh, idk, after she lost her boots I keep having this overwhelming want to punch her in the face. Good thing she's fictional and two-dimensional, I guess, ahahaha.

[identity profile] lanoyee.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
1. And it looks beautiful, too. I'd love to know what the fandom is.

36. OMG YES. ILU. ♥ ♥ ♥ I am someone who hardly truly dislikes a character, but the ones I fall for, and fall for hard? Are nearly without fail female.

And and and ALEXIEL. ♥

Though I don't know if I could say I think less of someone who hates female characters, but it still... sort of makes me sad.

39. ... because their brand of fucked-up-ness is so very glorious? :D

13. I didn't like a lot of the Three Kings Arc and that was actually partially why. :X I mean, I could see him coming back and all (yeah, he wouldn't have back in middle school, but . . . character development; by the end of the series it made sense) but I can't see him actually settling down. Telling her he'd marry her, yeah, but actually going through with it? No. >.> And there's no way he could stand just staying in the Human Realm; the only way I can see that happening is if Koenma or Enma made him.

. . . on a slightly related note: YAY FOR YYH LOVE ♥

36. I don't understand it either; I mean, there are a lot of female characters that I don't like that are just plain annoying, but that doesn't mean that all female characters are like that. D:

22. "Tragic" is the perfect word and that's exactly how I see him, too. ;o; I think he was so unfortunate to discover the Death Note during his teenage years when he was naturally cynical and naive, and was also unfortunate in having his father working in the police force which was what lead to his strong morals. And in my opinion, the power of the Death Note did corrupt him. Granted, more so than it would do to somebody else, but I believe that's due to those circumstances I mentioned. Had he been a little older when he picked it up, he'd probably have been working in the police (following in the footsteps of his father) and the Note wouldn't have affected him in the same way that it did since he'd already be cleansing the world of evil and wouldn't have needed it. He might have tested it out a couple of times but probably wouldn't have taken it any further than that.

It's even more tragic when you see how he COULD have been during the Yotsuba arc when he loses all his memories of the Note. He seemed to be a really nice person that genuinely cared about his Father, Misa, L etc. With Misa, for example, he was adamantly against playing around with her feelings and didn't want her to get hurt or put her in danger. It's sad.

tl;dr? Sorry. xD

OP

(Anonymous) 2008-01-27 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
I TL;DR worse than that on a regular basis ♥ Thank you so much for the comment, with all the people who go around calling him a sociopath it's great to know that I'm not missing some key piece of information and having a skewed perspective -- I see it the exact same way you do. I think as a teenager, Light was still very much trying to find his sense of self-definition and was looking for a role in the world -- one outside of the perfect straight-A student who made his parents proud etc. etc. etc. and wanted to find some sort of purpose to his life other than acing every test. Actually, Light finding the Death Note when he was fully an adult, not a teenager still really figuring out his place in the world, could be quite an interesting AU.

26: Y'know, I realise the whole point of f!s is to get things off your chest, but you could easily have made your secret without slagging off two Kadaj RPers. For all you know they could read f!s, and how would you feel[edit: if you found a secret bitching about you]?

I can't comment on the ICness of the Landamned Kadaj, since I was only there for a short time and never interacted with him, but there's such a thing as INTERPRETATION. Just because you agree perfectly with how s/he plays Daj doesn't mean that's the only possible way to play him.

I'm in DramaDramaDuck. I know the Daj player there. I know how much effort she puts into her character. I'm sorry you don't agree with her portaryal, but there was NO CALL to bitch about her choices.

I don't know Purgatorium, but again, just because you decide Kadaj can't be shipped with Lucrecia doesn't mean it's not possible. And hey, meet #44! Would you say that Kadaj is OOC? But at least one person clearly loves that portrayal and DOES find it IC!

tl;dr: cry moar. your opinion =/= fact.

As someone that interacts with and adores one of Kadaj's bashed in this secret, I totally agree. It's so not necessary to be a bitch regarding other peoples' portrayals just to praise someone else.

[identity profile] avianthropy.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
45. I don't like her that much either. The way they used her early on to hit us over the head with the moral HEY KIDS, SEXISM IS DUMB, GIRLS KICK ASS really irritated me. Avatar's one of the last shows that needs to be so anvilicious about that matter -- even by episode 4, Katara and her waterbending had made that pretty clear.

I didn't mind her by "Appa's Lost Days," when the focus was actually on telling the story, but yeah, that wasn't enough to make me decide she's an omgawesome character after all.

Not!Fandom 2: A shipping secret I lol'd at! CFUD TOPS.

[identity profile] vivalanaomi.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
Especially after the influx of strong female characters in Season 2 and onwards. It makes Suki's episode a bit redundant and, in retrospect, a little bit patronizing.

Guy 1: Know what would be great for our viewers? To have an entire episode about a female warrior tribe!
Guy 2: Yeah! Feminism! *Devil Horns*
...
Guy 1: Say... how about we just make all of our major female characters kick ass?
Guy 2: That works too!

And although it was anvilicious, Katara taking on the Ice Master was so much more satisfying for me. One of the best moments in Season One, in my opinion.
