No honestly I love all the Starks. People tend to hate all of them for some reason, except Arya, who everybody falls all over themselves for. "BRAN IS STUPID. RICKON IS A WHINER. JON IS BORING. ROBB IS AN IDIOT." blah blah blah I think half the people reading the books forget that Jon is the oldest of them and he's still only a teenager. They're kids. You can't judge kids as characters the same way you judge adults.

Uh I hate to say this but...how does "devoted to her village and those she cares about but also feels the need to get out there and do more, fighty, a little impulsive, protective" = "no personality"?

Of course she doesn't have the personality of the main characters; she's only been in three episodes. But I can't help but feel that the reason people say she "has no personality" is because they hold female characters to a higher standard. :/ If a guy was a little impulsive, protective, and proud to dress up in weird clothes for the sake of his traditions, no one would accuse him of having no personality. But as a girl, her character traits are seen as representing a stereotype rather than representing her.

None of this is to say you have to like her! But it's just not true that she has no personality. :/

I think you're a little fast to pull out the "It's because she's a girl!" reasoning.

I don't think she has much of a personality. For that matter, neither does Mai, Ty Lee, or Haru. This isn't to say that they have bad personalities but rather, they have not had enough development by themselves for me to appraise them. HOWEVER, the moment they enter some sort of ship, I get twitchy. They are, in many ways, blank slates. How the hell do you ship someone with a blank slate?

But yeah. At least for me, it's not her lack of penis but her lack of development with respect to everyone else that makes me think that she has very little personality.

19. Really? Well, I read the later part first (with Winter and Otra) rather than the first part, which might explain why I don't think there's anything wrong with it. I think it's really cute no matter where you start or end. *shrug*

29. The way I like to think is that they put so much emphasis on the show being a parody of shoujo that when it actually is something you'd see in shoujo, it's that much more real. I think the point of the whole show was that you don't have to be "generic blushing shoujo" all the time to be a girl, and a vast majority of the time Haruhi isn't. If she didn't have those few weaker moments, she wouldn't be as compelling as a character. I don't know; I find Tamaki/Haruhi to be the only canon, het couple I've ever supported, so I guess I'm biased. :3

I was so incredibly amused by Tamaki stating the "obvious" facts that he and Haruhi were the main characters and the others the "homo-homo side characters" despite how things actually looked. Seriously, his delusions were some of the funniest parts of the series! If they're starting to become true, I feel the joke is more on the reader than on Tamaki.

3. I don't get it either. As a fan of TOS over the new stuff, I think I prefer Romulans, personally. A little bit freakier, a little bit cooler.

5. I think he loves her, but I don't think it's the same kind of love. The chemistry between Mickey and Rose reminds me of the chemistry between me and my best guy friend. We tried dating a few times. It didn't work. He's an amazing guy and we'd probably do anything for each other, but romance itself just isn't a thing.

That said, I love Mickey (I wish I still had my "Tin Dog" icon loaded). He was one of my favorite things about the first two seasons because I loved watching how the Doctor, even just on the perephrial, changed Mickey and helped him grow up. The Doctor=The Man Who Makes People Better. (And yes, the Doctor wasn't really doing it on purpose or anything. But knowing the Doctor was the catalyst for the change. Which says a lot about the show...)

35. A friend (well, accquaintance) of mine worked on that show. I've never seen it. But seeing so many 80's fandoms revived, I agree--just because you don't like the New Version of something doesn't make you an old fogey; sometimes things just suck.

I'll say this right now--I'm still upset by Heath Ledger's death, and the more I think about it, the more it's not because of some teeny-bopper "he was pretty!" or whatever. It was because it was so sickeningly stupid and unexpected. He wasn't a user or someone with "problems" (moreso than normal). It was probably just a stupid case of mixed medication, an OD of ambien mixed with something else in just the wrong way. And that's it. It's a freaky death, and it would be for anyone. But in Ledger's case, it upsets me more just because there were so many more great roles he could've done. He was pretty, sure, and he had a great smile, but he was also just amazing and impressed me every time I saw him in something unexpected.

I get that you don't care, because a lot of people just didn't and hearing all the fuss probably gets annoying very quickly. But some of us just got thrown for a loop. I'm more than a little annoyed with myself for being this tweaked over a celebrity that I never met or anything, but there it is.

55. I hope he's dead. Not because I don't like him or anything like that, but because I think it really lent a gravity to the show. I hate the idea of killing characters to make something "intense" but Jet's death was a really well-done scene, and I hate cheapening that sort of thing by reviving dead characters more.

I've pretty much only seen TOS and they were my favorites too. I'm fine with Klingons but, yes, they were hotheaded in comparison and the Romulans seemed like more dangerous enemies.

(The screenshot was so dark I didn't realize what 55 was. I agree, I like him too, but I'd be really disappointed if that turned out it wasn't really a death scene.)

Sansa is easily one of my favorite characters in the whole series, and definitely my favorite Stark. She's probably had the most drastic transformation of all the characters (well, Jaime is comparable). I started liking her more once she started growing up, but seeing her losing her innocence was also incredibly sad.
I think that a lot of ASOIAF fans see Arya's "badass" attitude as way cooler than Sansa's ladylike demeanor, and so see Sansa as weaker, which is completely untrue. Strength comes differently to different people.

Word. I'm not ashamed to say I cried at, "She was a good girl, and always remembered her courtesies." God, the poor girl.

But at the same time, the self-control she showed in that scene (Joffrey showing her Ned's head) revealed how much strength she has....it's just not obvious strength like Arya's.

43. Yes, I love Sansa's character too. Though I think one can understand the very good reasons for naivety and passivity, and still have a kneejerk sense of dislike towards her. Even though I've grown ever fonder of Sansa and, for that matter, Sandor since the Hand's tourney conversation, I still have 'ME KILL YOU NOW, IDIOT' moments. But I don't have time for the loudmouths who revile her without really getting just what a good job Martin has done with her characterisation. She feels more convincing to me than Arya, though I like Arya.

You know, I think of disliking a character and bashing a character as being two separate things. I don't have problems with people disliking a character, however I don't get the deal behind bashing one. And while doing it behind locked doors doesn't hurt, but the fact that some of the crap that has been said about Mai and Mai/Zuko in areas where there are known fans of that character as being disrespectful.

Dislike the character all you want, bashing just seems foolish.
