'Ulysses' by James Joyce.
Anything by Hemingway. Not a Hemingway fan at all.

What's your problem with Hemingway? (Serious question, not being flip)

Anything Jane Austen but more because of the way they're treated than the books themselves

They're glorified romcoms. Fun but ultimately lacking depth regardless of how desperately your high school english teacher digs

I feel the same about lots of Shakespeare too

I still maintain that the only reason teachers use The Scarlet Letter is that they need an example of "17th-century American literature" that isn't as godawful as the literature actually written in America during the 17th century. (By way of comparison, one teacher had us read The Sovereignty and Goodness of God, which makes Hawthorne look like Nietzsche.)

Too many to list (including most of the classic literary canon circa ~1850-1920) but I'd have to say Planescape Torment is probably the one people know me most by.

I don't like Thomas Hardy. It was a chore.

I loved Chaucer when all of my classmates hated the stories.

John Hughes movies, especially "The Breakfast Club." I was in high school when I first watched it and I just did not get why my friends all loved it. Maybe I needed to spend more time in detention.

Most 'classic' movies that movie snobs like. Like Pulp Fiction, anything by Wes Anderson, Stanley Kubrick, and so on. I just don't find them that amazing.

- Soylent Green
- Fast Times at Ridgemont High
- The Dark Knight Returns
- The Killing Joke
- A Contract with God (This is literally the only thing by Eisner I've read that I didn't like, though. And I've read a LOT of his works.)

The Labyrinth.

I was born into the generation loves some 80's banana hammock, but weighted crotches aside, there's absolutely nothing of value or interest in the movie for me.

I've been made to watch it by two of my friends, one of them several times because she just doesn't understand how I can't find interest in the movie. Thanks, no thanks, keep your tights and scene chewing 'goblin' king.

Tarzan (the book) and The Odyssey. UGH. They're both so boring. Tarzan in particular was a chore to get through.

That said, I don't mind either of them in non-book form, and I do wonder if maybe I thought The Odyssey was boring primarily because I'd already seen it on TV in various ways. And also because it isn't really meant to be read.

I also couldn't get through Dracula, which is a shame because I adore vampires, and I think it might be a similar issue.
