7. Not in the fandom, but character resurrection annoys me to no end. There are probably exceptions, but almost all the time, even if the author/creator planned it from the beginning and didn’t do it as a crowd-pleaser, even if I loved the character… I wanted them to stay dead. (OK, I can think of one exception but she wasn’t really ever dead.)

39. I hear you. It’s much nicer shipping something no one wants to bother arguing about because the pairing makes no sense or the fandom is too small.

48. They’re so married.

49. Haibane Renmei secret, sort of! I never thought I’d see one. It is great music.

67. No one could really hate on her, could they?

48 OP

YES. And I bet they secretly switch hats and rp each other.

YAY, THANK YOU.

The wank is just getting ridiculous. I've never felt ASHAMED of being a fan of something until now. Thanks, asshat elitists. ;__;

35. Gonna have to say I agree with the sentiment, but not the tone. Those -ly endings get pretty old, but people usually end up resorting to them when they've checked like... 12 usernames and they're all taken and it's so frustrating e____e I don't have any -ly's, though, the closest I have is [livejournal.com profile] highrolling XD

54. Go for it. The best part about fursuits/mascots? No one has to see your face! :D

Well, the failboat comments have already been made, so...

Look. You can't compare PS2-era games to SNES-era games. Why? Because games like Kingdom Hearts wouldn't be what they are without the influences of games like Super Mario RPG, Earthbound, and Chrono Trigger! Early RPGs came up with 90% of the concepts that were used in later ones - from basic things like leveling up, equipment, random battles and map encounters, and stats, magic and skills, to evolving job classes and job trees, combo attacks, summons, investing AP in specific stats or skills, making decisions that actually affect the plot, character affection stats...

Like those double-attacks in Super Mario RPG? The expand on it in Legend of Dragoon, and in Eternal Sonata guarding works in a similar fashion. Chrono Trigger had seamless map to battle action long before FFXII.

Games like Seiken Densetsu, Tales of Phantasia and Star Ocean set up complex action-RPG setups that were ten times more involved than the button-mashing involved in Kingdom Hearts, back on the SUPER NINTENDO when they could barely fit all that information on the cartridge. These oldschool games didn't have anything to work off, they didn't HAVE ten years of history in the genre to work off.

Older (console) games couldn't attract audiences with hot graphics and bishies (*cough*Organization XIII*cough*), so they put work into what REALLY mattered - innovation. That's why I love retro gaming.

Dude, fail troll fails. D:

[identity profile] relmneiko.livejournal.com 2008-02-16 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
...and that would be Seiken Densetsu 2 and 3 I'm talking about. 1 was for the GameBoy, I think.

4 - Tell me, if you find something hilarious that someone else obviously put a lot of time and effort into, will you be just as big an asshole and tell them you find it and their entire hobby stupid? Unless you just happen to be the world's absolute authority on everything popular, I wouldn't assume that you've never once looked ridiculous in your life to someone else. Like now, for example.

I'm sure there are hobbies you indulge in that others find silly as well, so I'd take yourself down a peg or two.

And if you don't have any hobbies...well, I'm sorry you have such a boring life. D:

Really, what is wrong with people mustering up a little respect for someone else's craft, even if it's just their keen ability for detail?

[identity profile] kerina.livejournal.com 2008-02-16 02:12 am (UTC)(link)

No really, Garfield may not be as funny as he used to be, but...why compare the two? They're...diffwent! :o

Edit: That is to say, there is definitely nothing wrong with you. I sounded a little harsh at first. :P

Don't worry. You're not the only one who loves the trailer. :)

I think the voice actors did a good job. Although I was a bit disappointed in Miyuki's voice.

26 OP, Yay!

The main comm was just whining, "OH NOW I WON'T BUY THE DVDS, IT'S SO BAD!1!", so I thought I was alone. ;o;

69. Parasite was a great series, and I hate what Mixx/Tokyopop did to it. I wish more people knew about it. When I was younger, it was a fairly well-known title, even though it hadn't been translated.

He starts out as a rather quiet background character who has the occasional funny line. And then there's an episode centered on him where we find out a lot of things about him. After that he starts coming out of his shell a bit more. And then he hits Owen, and that's kind of when I fell in love. And at least as far as I've seen in S2, he's getting the best lines.

6: Why do you write fanfic for something you don't like? But I guess you can feel better about it, if you think you're making them better with richer characters and better action. In that case, carry on.

9. I think I understand what you mean. I don't care what some people say. It's a great story and a powerful one. I was pretty emotional over it, and I still feel that way, years later. [The fandom stinks, though...]

15. He's a fanboy who made interesting characters in complex worlds for other fanboys and girls to enjoy. What's so wrong with that? [That's like hating on a comic book fan for writing comics or a film buff for becoming an actor.]

37. I hate when people say, "I hate ____" without saying why they hate it! What is it?! The suspense kills me!"

48. My God. Me too.

53. Ha, that also sounds like me...

54. Make them and sell them for furries. Then everybody wins.

56. Who says that they think Garfield is better than Calvin and Hobbs just because they like Garfield, too? They're obviously not in the same league. Let's compare Doonsbury to Get Fuzzy next, shall we?

63. But will you shoot up the mantle piece? Because if you do, I want to come over. [Sexual roleplaying, FTW!]
