I'm so happy that people are getting pissed at Neil Degrasse Tyson for making science "pedantic", because that means a lot fewer people will be talking about how much they ~~~looooove science!!~~~ when what they actually like is easily-digestible Facebook-friendly non-thinky pop-sci. Pop-sci is like candy-- pretty good in small doses, but certainly not real food.

Where do you draw the line, though? Not sarcasm, just considering your point. Because I think it's a good one, but at the same time, there's so many different areas of science someone can be interested in.

I am sure it's annoying when people proclaim a love for science only to stare at you blankly when you get talking, though.

On this note, I hate "I Fucking Love Science". I've followed them for years and they degrade more and more to the point where they just post clickbait and bullshit, small-scale "scientific" studies that will get them clicks. It's hypocritical and shitty.

I think democracy in it's current form is wrong. Democracy as it stands lets people like Trump prosper when he should be starving. Democracy makes the sexist mudslinging at Hillary acceptable. Democracy lets groups like the KKK walk the street and murder three black teens. Democracy is not wrong, but the pure democracy we have now, where anyone regardless of moral authority can decide anything, this is not ok.

... "pure democracy".... We don't have a pure democracy. I think our political system could use some retooling, but in a pure democracy--I assume you mean direct democracy?-- we'd at least all be too busy voting on stuff to get into much trouble, but we might starve while voting on the best way to plant crops.

I get annoyed at people complaining about characters they don't like topping or bottoming or w/e and demanding fandom produce the opposite fo rthem

I know it comes from social justice causes and being anti gender roles and w/e w/e but it's porn, porn will never be politically correct and someone crying about Bobby never topping and being outraged that there isn't an outpouring of topBobby smut for them to read is just as entitled as someone crying about the lack of Bobby/Susie

Critiquing the way a fandom does porn is one thing, complaining that there isnt enough of something is another, this only applies to people who complain there isnt enough of what they want and try to makei t into some kind of 'fairness' argument to get the kind of porn they want

I think politically incorrect thinking should be punishable by sterilization. I do not want another piece of shit raising a piece of shit child to be a piece of shit. I think once we've had a few generations of with more right minded people in charge, maybe then we can open up the possibility of allowing them to breed, but for now, conservatives are breeding this world to death.

While I sympathized with her and thought the CEO was wrong in the long run, I have no idea why that Yelp employee thought posting that letter for the whole internet to see wouldn't get her fired. I think all captive big cats, especially tigers, should be neutered. For one, most of them are inbred, and for another, since they've never successfully been introduced back into the wild, it's not "conservation", it's breeding an animal for a life in captivity. And believe it or not, captive tigers aren't actually endangered, thanks to shady breeders and private ownership, there are actually too many and not enough accredited zoos and sanctuaries to give them good homes. They're so expensive to keep, especially when they aren't cute and small anymore, they're usually sold anyway... and places that buy adult tigers that aren't zoos, tend to be shady as fuck or even slaughterhouses.

atheists who used to be christians should stay the fuck out of any conversation concerning religion, because they are incapable of keeping their biases in check and incapable of understanding the most basic fucking tenets of any worldview that isn't based in either religious christianity or christian secularism. They also do not understand that not every religion functions exactly the same way as christianity, nor do they understand that even secular people from non-christian cultures are generally not raised with the same values and ideologies as secular people from christian cultures.
