Thinking about it, it makes sense to me to add dicks and not vaginas to characters on a logical level. M/M pairings already have a built in method to bottom and a method to top. I would naturally assume there's less vaginas being added to male bodies because anal sex exists so that kind of penetration-by-genital is already present. In F/F penetration-by-genital is not there by default and not everyone is into artificial genitals or toys, so if penetration-by-genital is the focus, you add dick.

It isn't the same. The guys who like dick who are straight like it in a they love themselves and being male and their own sex organ sort of way. Whereas women are more likely to self hate and to dislike their bodies.

I didn't say all men and women and I didn't say it was inherent. But a lot of socialization tells men their dicks are awesome and makes them better than those without dicks. And a lot of socialization tells women their bodies are/should be hot except for their sex organs which are kind of icky and they shouldn't like that part of their body. And many men and women buy into that.

There is a... surprisingly large population of men who identify as straight, but who absolutely have a sexual attraction to dick, in a way that's completely distinct from enjoying your own sexual organ. Like, I'm talking about detailed fantasies about sucking cock, that kind of thing.

Now, I'm *pretty sure* that these men are basically just bisexual, and the reason that they don't identify that way is because of socialization (I generally get the sense that it's somewhat easier for women to identify as bisexual than men). But I haven't done any research on that. Just the sense that I get.

I think it has to do with how less visible a vagina is, but also because of the cum aspect too. There's something very explicit about the release when it's a dick, while in the case of the vagina not so much. I mean it's more about the whole body's reaction than the organ itself.

I think there's a lot to it beyond just 'sexism' or whatever. And I think you're vastly underestimating just how much we give vaginas to not-vagina-having people. (a/b/o, intersex!Loki, any sort of alien character, even the way most slash fic describes anal makes it sound much more like vaginal intercourse).

But as to why adding dicks happens to much, tere's the very obvious visual aspect. Vaginas are lots and lots of wrinkly, oddly-colored, naturally hairy wet skin. It's a combination of things that even on their own most people don't find terribly appealing. Meanwhile dicks tend to be fairly neutral, and if you asked I bet most people could tell you what an 'attractive' dick looked like.

But I think it also has a lot to do with how obvious male sexual response is. You can see when they're aroused. You can see just how aroused they actually are (semi- or fully erect). You can see when they orgasm, regardless of how reserved their reaction might otherwise be. And there's no mystery about how to give them pleasure.

Female sexual response is a lot more complicated. Many women don't like vaginal sex, or can't get off on it. Their arousal isn't as blatant. So is orgasm.

I'm fairly sure it has something to do with vaginas being regarded as mysterious or even impossible to understand, there are guides to "finding the clitoris" as if it would even be a remotely difficult task for anyone with even a basic understanding of anatomy. whereas penises are external and large and very "approachable" for lack of a better word, men can understand how the stroking of a penis = feels good!! so when they want to see a woman feeling good, or being sexually aroused- being able to visualize an erection on a woman, and watching the same stroking movements they make on their own dicks makes it much easier for them to do so.
