My mother has gotten into it, which I find adorable. I came home last night to the sound of "Gah! How do I catch this thing!" and caught her in the corner of the computer room trying to snare an Eevee. She then told me to hurry up and eat, because she wanted to check out where the PokeStops were in our neighborhood and needed someone to hold the flashlight while she watched the phone.

That *is* super-cute! I wish my Mom would try new stuff like that, but sadly, no... :(

I had a police officer pull up by me while I was trying to catch a Pokemon. He was like, "You playing that Pokemon game?? I saw you swiping at your screen!" I showed him how to play it so he can give it a try. The PD is a Pokestop so he will always be able to get some Pokeballs.

How do you people get Pokemon to show up in your houses? I leave the game on at my computer all the time and I've never had one show up.

People not living in super hot weather have a great advantage over us plebs in 90+ degree weather. I went for a walk earlier and could only stay out for 20 minutes. I want these stupid eggs to hatch!

I've never played--I grew up in a cave, I guess, because I never knew Pokemon besides something some kids at school liked. But four adorable teenagers almost mowed me down in Astoria Friday and yelled "POKEMON!" by way of explanation, so that was cute.

On the other hand I'm fairly sure somebody's going to die before the summer's over.

I have been having a lot of trouble making it work. :( first there were server issues, a ton, some of which have caused my game to crash in the middle. I guess everyone's experiencing that. also charger issues which everyone is also experiencing but it can really hinder gameplay. my biggest bone so far that could be easily solvable is that nearly every time I load the app (which also takes a long time...) I have to sign in again. Really? Seriously? that is a huge pain in the ass and I don't even see an option to stay signed in (if someone points it out to me I will feel stupid but also be very grateful).

Also, I haven't yet wanted to take a ton of time to just wander around looking for shit by myself. I find that very boring. the game is not super stimulating on its own. I like catching Pokemon and i hope to level up and battle and all that, but I have a hard time seeing myself putting hours into the game yet. what do you do while you're waiting for it to calibrate so you can find Pokemon? just...stand there and stare around? :/ (you can't close the app apparently or it will lose everything it's trying to do so playing another game on my phone isn't really an option)

BF has gotten into it. It's a cute concept, but honestly I'm just waiting for the first headline about a kid getting run over by a car because of it or something.

I'm really enjoying it! I'm slowly going to bake walking around in 90+ degree weather but you know, healthy or something. My mom is living vicariously through me and likes to see which ones I catch.

My immediate neighborhood is kind of iffy to walk around in but I've had plenty of luck driving elsewhere and walking around there. :D

I love that you literally have to *go outside and walk around* to play the game. That is excellent. And yes, whatever, people walking around unconscious of their surroundings, blah blah, but people do that all the time, anyway, texting and stuff.

I think it's just neat.

It seems really neat and I love Pokemon but I don't know if I want to do the work around to get it, I'd probably end up fucking up my phone knowing my luck.

But I am loving the screen caps and stories from people playing it.

Just got back from a thirty minute walk. I was walking for exercise before the app (Since I lost my exercise equipment; I've been trying to go every day, when the weather permits), but this gives me an extra push to go.

The only thing being... It's so fucking hot that staying out longer then 30 or 40 minutes isn't comfortable, and there aren't many PokeStops around my area. There are a few within what I consider walking distance, but I'm kind of wary of going there on my own because people don't watch their dogs like they should in this area, and I'm afraid of running into one that isn't friendly.

Wish the freaking Cemetery wasn't a PokeStop... I don't want to go to the Cemetery every day.

And I'm also envious of anyone who feels comfortable playing after dark. I worry someone might pull a gun on me if they caught me near their property that late at night/early in the morning.

Sadly, a lot of Pokémon look to spawn right to the side and back of my property, where I can't go. (They're closed off right now, because of the flooding.)

I just want more Pokémon! (And to not look so damn awkward whilst catching them.)

FUCK YEAH

The connection issues are killing me and I feel like I'm way behind everyone else in terms of CPs (haven't enough fought a gym yet) but I'm having fun with it. Wish there was more avatar customization and gen 2 Pokemon, I assume there are game functions they were planning on rolling out later on.

People getting into AR is nice though.

Haven't played Pokemon since '99 but it's weird how much I still remember. My mom and I went out to dinner last night and she indulged me when I wanted to go hunting a little bit after.

I found an Eevee at Walmart! But I'm still looking for Zubat.

I wish they would let you walk in place to hatch eggs. A treadmill will make it so much easier to hatch eggs in this 90+ weather.

A couple things:

-Gyms keep crashing for me. I think there are too many people trying them at once, or something, but I get the enemy pokemon down to 1HP and then the battle goes on indefinitely with no one actually hurting the other. It annoys me because so many of these gyms were well within my ability to beat!
-The ones that don't freeze up though are super fun. All around town, but especially in downtown/the mall the gyms are changing colors every few minutes
-I walked around downtown myself to play, and I swear probably one in three people/groups were playing it. It was extraordinary. I slunk by a gym where a group of young guys were playing, and sniped the gym from them. Unfortunately, the annoying part about gyms is you can only put in Pokemon with full HP, so if you used your strongest Pokemon to battle, you have to heal it before you can deposit it into the gym, so I quickly put in one of my other "strong" (but not nearly as strong as my top fighter) Pokemon. I immediately tried to level it up but the gym froze, and as I was trying to navigate that the other team took it again
-I'm pretty sure it's killing my 1GB data plan... will worry about that at the end of the month.
-Hoooow do I find other Charmanders so my Charmander can evolve and level up.

I live right next to a graveyard and there is a gym and like a dozen poke stops there and that is pretty awesome! (Unfortunately I have yet to find any ghost types there lol) Also: today while out looking for Pokemon I ran across a wild rabbit! You don't see much besides squirrels here, so I thought it was cool.

I've never been into Pokemon before this, but my friend wanted someone to bike with & got me hooked. We're actually going out tomorrow morning.

One specific instance- I gave some guys directions out my car window to the charmander I'd passed some ways back. They practically started sprinting.

I was late to obedience to catch a bulbasaur. After work I hung out with ppl and walked around the city. I just spent previously voting time waiting for bus attacking another gym and removing all but one defence (game crashed). The dog got 4 park visits in a row. I tried new desserts so I had somewhere warm to catch Pokemon in. My boss boss boss was impressed I was a gym leader for 4 hours.

I like it. Just wish it wouldn't crash so much. Sometimes it takes up to 40 mins to get in.
